get under the umbrella
WOW. What a breathtaking roller coaster of fun and intrigue. I'm partial to Sageuk dramas so I have watched my fair share and I have to say this is definitely one of the most unique ones I've ever watched.A lot of times my frustrations lie with the cheesy left state minister and all the politics, but this was done fantastically written and woven with plot twists that you couldn't help but be captivated from the beginning to the end.
You won't be bored the whole 16 episodes.
Sure do I have unanswered questions like why are there no daughters out of this many wives etc but at the same time that would be nitpicky of such a masterpiece.
What I also loved is that it showed us a layer of the palace that we rarely see- the competition between wives and their children, as well as the real intense mothering that must be happening when you have nothing else to live for, but your prince.
The brotherhood was also the ultimate bromance!
The queen really stole the show. She was dimensional- loving, kind, shrewd, brilliant, defensive- every single thing you would ever want in female lead.
That being said- the rest of the cast was incredible from the princes to even the king. This show had heart, emotion and a lot of love.
DON'T miss this one!

crash course in confusion
so I don't know that I've ever been so conflicted about a drama - the parts that were good- actors, occupations, emotions, feelings, playful love- were SO GOOD.BUT the parts that were bad- why we gotta go so dark and awful in places to achieve a story line that's been done... less stressfully... made it feel like a grind at times.
I had to force myself to watch at times, had to read the recaps to see if it was worth the push, and did end up finishing it and I'm glad I did... although per usual the fun endings you wanted you didn't get enough time with and the situations you wish would wrap faster took forever.
I do think overall it's a darling show- but missteps along the way!

don't hesitate- the perfect easy watch rom com!
I can't tell you how many times I've based on beauty inside - even though I love Lee Da Hee! Sometimes I'm grateful for when the sleeper hits exist because when I'm looking for something to happily binge I come across them and then I'm grateful that I haven't watched them yet.I was delighted by the pace of the show as well as the fun cameos and interesting storyline. Sure, it's a little far-fetched and there's holes in it, but at the same time some of the best rom-coms are.
While there definitely was the usual time jump and break up episode, overall the couple grew to care and love one another as well as their genuine affection for each other throughout the show and trials really made them a unique couple you were constantly rooting for.
The supporting cast was equally fun. Loved their houses and the fashion was also fantastic.
The show sparkled in all the right ways and is a great one to binge when you need something light and fluffy. Don't miss it!

absolutely don't hesitate to watch
I'm sad it's over and I'm sad I waited so long! This title is on several top drama lists for a reason- don't get swayed by the "it's about mental health" storyline.I remember starting this drama over a year ago and thinking, oh this might be too dark for me based on the first 5 minutes.
But after being unable to find something to grab my attention after several other starts of highly recommended dramas (hospital playlist, prison playbook) I decided it was time.
To absolutely be dramatic, it sucked me in and saved me.
The leads couldn't have been casted better- of course they're stunning- but dimensionally gorgeous and wounded and well played.
She's psycho and aggressive and he's heroic and tortured and they're PERFECT.
Pacing flew by and the every episode a fairy tale kept the charm of the theme on point.
Trauma, mental health, special needs, and all the wounds we carry with us day to day make this drama even more special and soulful.
DON'T miss it!

just lean into it
this was the perfect filler drama in my mind. not a ton of emotional commitment needed but moved and enjoyable pace.sure you could say more episodes more context more explanations
but what we got STILL felt really good.
sure the ending is open ended but I choose to believe they are together in secret and not for public consumption... as it should be.
they're an electric couple to watch- Suzy is at her mesmerizing best (man that hair and the outfits) and the rest of the cast is perfection.
let's not forget we're here to be entertained, and Doona! it's exactly that.
