She was friendly towards Hur June and his mother though they were strangers to her.This episode explored the theme about being kind to others. Hur June, even though he could find no place to stay at first in Sanum and needed the money he had for himself gave some money to a vagabond because her daughter was hungry.This expisode explored the theme of standing up for oneself in the midst of adverse situations. Even though the magistrate Hur June was reliant upon for his livelihood was no longer around, Hur June did not give up. He not only found himself a place to stay but also a way to make a living as Weetae's apprentice.This episode explored the theme of letting go of the past and starting afresh. Hur June left his hometown to go to Sanum to start afresh. He was able to forget Dahee and his past and start afresh again.

Hur June's mother talked about Hur June's sorrow as his friends all moved on from where they were to government officials and even though he was the more clever one, he remained low in status because he was born a concubine's son.This episode explored the theme of kinship between father and son. His father might be angry at Hur June's action but he let Hur June escaped because he was Hur June's father. Though he was mad at Hur June for what he did, he could not bear to let his son suffered the consequences of the law.This episode explored the theme of the impotance of not making rash decisions. Hur June rashly went to search for the culprit who stole his money and was punished for his actions by being temporarily locked up in jail.

When Cao Cao wanted to invade Xu province, no one is willing to lend a helping hand. No one except Liu Bei. When Tao Qian offered Xu province to Liu Bei, Liu Bei rejected it three times. Liu Bei had no ulterior motive for helping Xu province. That is what I called a man of integrity.

Dong Zhuo is dead finally, and at the hand of his adoptive son Lu Bu. He deserved his end, he is a tyrant. I am glad Lu Bu and Diao Chan can be together at last, they deserve to be together as they love each other. Wang Yun proves to be more foolish than I thought. Despite the advise of Chen Gong, he chose to be arrogant and that proved to be his death as well. No one is left to take care of the emperor now and we wonder at the fate of the Han dynasty.

Diao Chan faces a dilemma... should she follow her heart and love Lu Bu or sacrifice her love for the greater good? It is not an easy choice for a woman to make, especially a woman of ancient time. And Diao Chan chooses the greater good, a hard choice, but admirable. She is not selfish. I feel sad for Lu Bu, also. He is torn between his loyalty to Dong Zhuo and love for Diao Chan, but he loves her, he genuinely loves her. I hope all turn up well for this couple in love.

While Sun Jian is foolish to take the imperial jade for himself, he does not deserve the death he receives in this episode. I feel so sad when he asked his soldiers to take Sun Quan away because he did not want Sun Quan to see him die. Sun Quan proves to be very intelligent and brave for his age, and he is cute as well. I wonder if he plays a role in the future. Overall, I like the Sun family and wonder if I will see more of them in this series.

My respect for Wang Yun really went downhill in this episode. Although I knew he planned something bad for Diao Chan when he realized Lu Bu and her loved each other and he said she could save the dynasty. I never realized how bad his plot is until this episode. He wanted to give her to Dong Zhuo and Lu Bu at the same time to sow discord between the two. Even if he is her adoptive father, this is a rather mean thing which he did. I don't approve of it, at all. I feel sad for Diao Chan.

Cao Cao proves to be intelligent, again, fooling Sun Jian to part with his army. Sun Jian proves to be very foolish, caring for the imperial jade when it is just a piece of rock. I wonder if this will really lead to a disaster for Sun Jian in the end. I am still rooting for Liu Bei.

What a wonderful fighting scenes between the three heroes and Lu Bu. Lu Bu is really formidable, and Liu Bei still seems honorable. I really enjoy the fight scenes between Lu Bu and the three heroes. The change of capitol near the end of this episode proves to me what I know all along when I first watch this series... that Dong Zhuo is a tyrant. He only cares for himself and not the citizens. I hope he gets deposed, soon. At this point, I am rooting for Liu Bei. He seems to be the most honorable man among all the characters!

Guan Yu proves to be a brave warrior that can do what no other can... slay Hua Xiong. Liu Bei and Cao Cao's conversation here seems to further hint at a future rivalry between the two as both are ambitious but have a different notion of how to achieve their own ambitions. Sun Quan, the son of Sun Ce, is so cute and intelligent. I will like to see more of him as the series progresses.

My worst fear comes true and Cao Cao did kill his uncle. He does not seem so noble as he did during the first episode. He seems to be cunning and ambitious, and not just care for the greater good. Liu Bei, on the other hand, seems to be moral, looking at this episode. Despite his humble beginning, Liu Bei seems to draw a heroic aura. I am left expecting more good things from Liu Bei. I sense a rivalry between Cao Cao and Liu Bei somewhere in the future...

I still like Cao Cao. He is still cool, although a bit suspicious, it seems. Liu Bei, who is introduced in this episode with his two brothers seems interesting and I wonder what role he will play in the future. Chen Gong seems like a nice character, who rather than sacrifices his righteousness, chooses to flee with Cao Cao, instead. Oh, what a sad misunderstanding at the end of this episode. I fear what it will lead to...

We are introduced to Cao Cao, one of the main characters of this series. Cao Cao is shown here as someone who is willing to lay down his life for the sake of the greater good. From the start, we know he is likely to be a major character as much screen time is given him from the first episode. He tried to assassinate Dong Zhuo but failed and we grieved with his failure and worried for his safety. Episode 1 ends with Cao Cao trying to evade capture and we are left to fear for his safety.
