All makjang all the time
Let's start from the beginning, shall we? I got into K-pop in 2009. My first kpop group was T-ARA, and my favorite member of the group was Jiyeon. I learn that she's casted in jungle fish 2. I watch it on YouTube, fan subbed (didn't have much options back then as an American teenager into this stuff. We've come so far!)
I watch jungle fish 2, and immediately fall in love with it. School dramas were my life until about 2015. Then, I realized it was graduate to a higher standard of storytelling:
The daily drama.
I'm joking, but I'm also not. Daily dramas are 100% my thing... Especially the revenge dramas! My watchlist may not reflect it (at the time of writing), but I absolutely love daily makjangs… I love makjang plot tropes… I love makjang villains (my icon is literally yeon minjung 😭) and I will absolutely be invested in our leads until they reach episode 100 and reach their happily ever after.
Fun fact: the first daily drama I watched, from beginning to end, is G
- lass Mask. Seo Woo was one of my first favorite Korean actresses!
