two broken souls, unable to heal each other the correct way

major spoilers ahead, read at your own risk.

this drama just feels like a vicious cycle, even until the end. the synopsis mentioned that the characters will heal each other, but did they really?

for the first 8 eps, push & pull between the two leads, and it’s a bit hard to understand how the male lead just fell for the female lead at first sight and became so clingy, almost obsessed with the female lead (which he probably did become obsessed in the later episodes)

and then from ep 9-18, it’s a cycle of, he gets jealous — she gets angry about it — he apologises — she forgives — they make out — repeat … it feels like they just settle things with kisses, or violence. considering the fact that he uses violence as an outlet to handle his anger, i’m surprised that he isn’t suspended from school :/ also, his favourite line is, “i know i’m at fault, i’m sorry, i won’t do it anymore” yet, he does it again the next time they had an argument, there isn’t any progress in the plot at all.
also, this drama is full of villains, making me wonder if there is anyone who is decent at all in this drama. clingy ex-boyf, vengeful friend, vengeful ex-boyf’s manager, horrible mother. please, with this number of people who are constantly hurting others, how are they able to heal. the only person who is nice in the drama is probably their friends & the professors.

finally the last part of the drama, ep 19-24, they finally found out that he is actually sick and his mental health has been affected due to his upbringing. yet, it doesn’t seem as if the psychologist has helped him in anyway, he should really get proper therapy on it. the girl tried to heal him, but it obviously didn’t work bc up till the last episode, he still cried and thinks that she’s leaving him, and that she hates him bc of his illness??? then he went overseas to further his studies bc he wanted to be a good child to his mother, and then when he’s back after 3 years, he’s miraculously healed??? and isn’t he still stalkish is a way that he keeps checking up on her activities by coming back to her place and hide in the dark to see her.

idk man, all in all, i feel like the entire plot has issue, the synopsis is not a good representation of what goes on. i wished they had actually worked on his mental health, and showed us the progress, and not just tell us that he’s healed after 3 years but not knowing how it happened.

for the friends, it’s kind of regretful, but at least i learned something from ruoshen and xiaoyun. love can’t be forced. they both have different values and goals in life, which resulted in them going different ways in life. like cheng feng said, “you’re both not in the wrong, it’s just that you’re seeing the same thing in different perspectives” — guess that’s my biggest takeaway from this drama but well, at least cheng feng really did go through therapy and walked out of her trauma with the help of jiang dian…

i guess you can watch this drama if you’re here for the kisses, they literally kiss every single episode (i feel), which is cute in a way that the production team isn’t afraid of showing these scenes. but this is a show that i wouldn’t recommend if you’re here for the plot.
