PLOT: High and Low is one of those classics we will never get any more, Directed by Akira Kurosawa, and starting two legendary Japanese actors Toshirô Mifune and Tatsuya Nakadai. Story is easy to understand, An executive of a shoe company becomes a victim of extortion when his chauffeur's son is kidnapped and held for ransom, As the story folds through out over 2 hours and 20 mins, you see the smart brilliant direction when the cops investigate to help Toshirô Mifune, the story is really detail, the cops and city people explain such an interesting way of the criminal and the doings he's done, for a white and black film, only one scene with color, kind of interesting to see that, As Toshiro son is kidnapped, the ransom so high that he will lose his business, and possibly house, so will he able to do this?
ACTING: Toshirô Mifune delivers great acting as always , especially for a modern citizen since he's always playing a samurai in his other films, and a good heart guy. Tatsuya Nakadai as a good, is great! He places such a good smart cop who is willing to help Toshiro at all means, and talking to his team about the best ways to catch the criminal.
Music: Music is mystery and suspenseful, classic and keeping the film good like other Akira films, with it's shocking and sad scenes.
Re watch value: I've only seen this film two times, maybe more in the future, it's pretty long.
OVERALL: Overall, This is the best Japanese film ever made, and nothing can come close to beat it, well Seven Smauari is only a few inches away but this masterpiece direction, screenplay, and story is so amazing, it just keeps getting good and good as you progressed through the film, everyone should watch this movie, you will not regret it!
