Little gem

The depth, relatability and maturity of this drama caught me by surprise.
I was expecting a slow pace and insignificant story, maybe with some bullied student achiving some goal. But my bad!

This is a beautiful and really entarteining piece about vocation and service to others in a quite competitive field. The conflicts are so relatable that your emotions are carried by the story without any effort.
The characters have depth and the acting is superb!
And you can see the ML smile a lot, since that would be enough reason for me to watch it. :)

Thats all, just in case you are in need of a good and round drama, this is it.

The story could have been entertaining, maybe a little repetitive but fine, but the writing for the main female character was really infuriating. She only exists to smile, to stare, to hug the male protagonist, and to make him (and us) fear for her. She has almost no feelings, no thoughts, no agenda, nothing. She stays at home, waits for the men to arrive, or walks to encounter several characters and listen to them talk. She has a big trauma, but never verbalizes it.
It speaks volumes of the actress to be able to work so well with so little. She is really lovable and sweet without really a script to support her work. More experienced actors were not able to do such a good job with their "cliche" characters.

I wanted to write this review prior to watching the last four episodes of the drama, because I didn't want it to be affected for wether I like the ending or not. I have to confess I have not dropped it out of curiosity for the ending.
Sadly this drama was not worth the hype.

Edit. To be fair, the last two episodes address some issues with Jin Ki Joo's character, and explain her trauma and lack of communication. However, not enough, in my opinion, to justify such a treatment during the whole drama. But I was able to understand the intentions behind the writing. And I liked the end, so gave it one more point in my rating. :)
