It was a good watch! ^^ It wasn't very new but it was good :) I know it's going to be a sad story so it took me time to be ready to watch it. Lol. I haven't watched the anime but the movie didn't make me cry. Still, there were a few scenes that made me sad and empathic. And, there's this one where I nearly cried because it made me feel the frustration and desperation.
If you're worried it will leave you with a heavy heart, you shouldn't. It's that bittersweet movie that won't leave you broken.
What I liked the most were those moments they made the music communicate. "Will it reach you?" I loved this line. Every time it was delivered, I just felt it.
I'm no expert on music nor can I play instruments, but since watching TwoSetViolin on you youtube (not a long time subscriber but they're classical musicians who also react on drama/movie which involves violin.. explaining things like how it's so fake.. lol they're hilarious and savage), it made me also focus on whether the characters will make me believe they're playing the instruments. Afterall, music is one of this movie's main ingredients. You can't leave that out. I was looking at their hand movements, the bow strikes... while listening to the music (again I'm not expert). I gotta say it was believable to me.
I believe they at least had some months of training (I couldn't search but I checked in the comments and they said they did) before making the movie which I appreciate just thinking they made an effort.
Lastly, I quite liked the cinematography ^^
On a side note, the supporting characters didn't feel like they mattered though. I mean they were supporting characters but it felt like they were just passersby.
