Only if your bored
This story started in a relatively positive way and was pretty cute at the beginning. Both the male lead and second male lead were very attractive. The female lead was also quite beautiful in my opinion. The costumes were fun. The female lead was portrayed as a smart independent woman and the male lead as a kind and considerate doctor. Typical chinese drama writing, contract marriage so someone can get what they want. Usually male CEO has to get married but in this drama the female lead was the CEO who needed to get married. Not very inventive but ok! I really did enjoy the drama till about episode 18-20 and then it went completely off the rails. She turned into such a stupid selfish bitch and I really could not stand her in the last 15 episodes. Any woman who hides a child from the father is pretty despicable in my mind. It sends all the wrong signals about what is responsible and decent behavior. This kind of writing just really infuriates me. Why could she not go to Germany with her husband like any normal human would? I get that the writers wanted her to look like she gave him up to help him but really? Her career was over anyway so she chose to run away and divorce him instead of staying by his side as his wife. He loved her and she said she loved him but obviusly she had no idea what love was. She was so self centered and selfish. The writing just made zero sense in the last 10 or15 episodes, it felt like they changed writers or something. This drama could have been 24 epsisodes and it might have been saved. The supporting characters were also very typical, nothing horrible but nothing great either. The formula writing continued. I would say watch if you are bored with nothing else but woud recommend a few other newer shows before this one.Was this review helpful to you?

Slow Road Home
I did enjoy this drama to a certain degree. I really like both the leads; Jing Boran is so expressive and definatly has the visuals in this one. Seven Tan I have enjoyed in a number of her other shows. The story was more mature, slice of life which I truly appreciated after all the nonsense shows we have been getting lately. The scenery was great and loved seeing that aspect of northern China. Nice to see a show out filming on location. That being said, there were a few things that I found lacking. I was disappointed in the pacing of the show. It just did not seem to flow very well and did get very draggy in parts. To much of the same stuff on repeat. I also had a problem with the secondary couple. Their story was not well developed and I found their chemistry to be nonexistant. Just could not get them as a couple. The little boy was adorable, his father, the second male lead, a blockhead. Found it hard to believe he was a SWAT Captain. The other couple, Seven Tan's best friend and her husband, were refreshingly normal. I like Seven Tan but honestly was not so invested in her character. I realize Lu Chen was her first love but after getting back together after 10 years I found her to still be acting like a teenager in her interactions with him. It was a little to cutesy cutesy for my taste. She was not acting like a mature 30 something woman. Lu Chen was the stereo typical SWAT team captain. A man of very!! few words. His communication skills were a tad bit lacking. All in all this was one of my favorites for the year. Was this review helpful to you?
Uncontrollabe Nonsense
Where does one begin with such a trainwreck of a show? The cast? Let me see: They were all relatively seasoned veterens. I am not a huge fan of Kim Woo Bin but he certainly carried the show. His character was not a likable one so it was hard to empathize with him even when we found out he was sick. Bae Suzy was terrible? I mean it had to be her right? Her character was such a trainwreck the whole time but honestly does she not know how to act? Was it the director who made her act in such a manner? All the shrieking and flailing around. Drinking until passed out drunk. I understand she had been through trauma as a child when her father was killed but nothing she did after that made me feel sorry for her. She tried to take care of her younger brother which was exceptionally commendable but really I also think she was selfish. We were supposed to be empathetic to her, but I ended up not caring one bit about her or her plight. She really was a useless, horrible person along with the rest of them. Kim Woo Bin's phsycho mother. Thank god I do not have a mother like that. Just a toxic selfish bitch who lived in the past pining away for a man who threw her away. Wow! Then there is the atagonist family. Father, Mother, Daughter and Son. More toxicity in one family than anyone can possibly imagine. I did somewhat feel sorry for the son. He in a way was the only character in the whole story I somewhat empathized with. He was exceptionally weak and snivaling but at least he did not stoop to his parents level of low. The whole filial piety thing seems to be an excuse for so many toxic things to be allowed to happen. Is it really anything like that? Then there was the sister and the crazy fiancee of the son who was not really the son of the father. Both horrid wretched people. The only likable person was her brother. He was just a cutie all the way through. Every other person, managers, friends, etc. all had their own agenda and thought nothing of trashing/trampling on another person to make sure their agenda was carried out. Finally we get to the number of episodes. A completely unecessary 20. They could have and should have stopped at 16. It might have been a 5 if they had. I know this is an older show but it is still available on Viki so thought I would give it a try. It should just fade away never to be seen again. Was this review helpful to you?
So I finished episode 16 full of hope that it would some how change my mind about this drama and make me like it. Unfortunately it did nothing of the kind. It was one hot mess. I watched it three times just to make sure I was not missing anything. Wow what a let down!

Durian in Wonderland
This was definately not a show I would recommend to anyone. There were a few very funny moments at the beginning when they first transported but those moments were overshadowed by the utter nonsense and writing that was the rest of the show. Not one of the supporting characters were likable or decent people. The writer must have been on drugs or something when she wrote this script. I noted that she wrote another show which I also disliked so I will definately steer clear of her shows in the future. It was in my opinion one hot mess, the ending was terrible and it was a total waste of talent? Save yourslelf an agonizing 16 hours and watch something else. Was this review helpful to you?
Fun
So this gets a good solid 7 from me. Not a masterpiece in my mind but entertaining. ML is adorable. It is somewhat hard to believe he is the youngest SWAT captain ever but we will let that go. Female lead is normal in pretty much everything. That is why I guess I enjoyed it so much. I can not tolerate these Cdramas where the female lead is in her mid-twenties and acts like a thirteen year old. I think all in all they were a pretty cute normal couple. The second couple I did find very annoying. The second FL was a stalker in my mind and the second ML was just a total blockhead. The third couple I enjoyed and was rooting for. This was a welcome relief from the last few shows I have tried to get through. I would say one of my favorite fluff dramas of this year. Was this review helpful to you?
So Boring
So after all the anticipation and waiting for this drama I must say I was completely disappointed. It has every cdrama cliche and then some and it is such slow going I could not take it anymore. I stopped watching at episode 18 and went to the end. I will commit cdrama sacrilage right now and say Xiao Zhan did not live up to my expectations in this. Nor did Yang Zi for that matter. I am sure they could have written a better script than the one they followed and perhaps a cuter, funnier, more slice of life drama would have been the result. This one was just torture. I saw zero chemistry between the main leads. I understand the age difference thing but still it could have been much better. Save yourself from this one unless you are absolutely a diehard fan of either of the leads. You will need to be a blind follower to get thru this one.Was this review helpful to you?
A Story of Manipulation and Phsychological Abuse
So this show was an absolute nightmare for me. I got thru the whole thing but found myself yelling at the tv because I just could not understand the mind of someone who could write somethig like this. The whole show is a series of manipulations and phsycological abuse perpetrated by every lead character in this drama. Male lead is a jerk, second male lead is constantly manipulating the female lead to get what he wants. The two seconday female leads, the actress who is a crazy bitch and the female leads sister who is also crazy and the cause of all the hurt and drama to begin with. Who could ever love any of these people? Female lead is a doormat because she is pathetically weak minded and has no communication skills. Everyone of these characters were pretty much horrible human beings who professed love but actually had no idea what love was. There was really no good characters except maybe the sisters assistant/boy toy who was decent but nothing special. The mother was a manipulative miserable human being. How is a plane crash anyones fault? Irregardless of why they were on it. The male leads constant tolerance of the actress even after finding out she did multiple bad things to the female lead. Just unbelievable. The whole show was just awful. Was this review helpful to you?
The worst yet
Absolutely do not waste anytime on this one. It is an older show from 2015 but honestly the plot was from 1960. Everything was horrible. The characters, the storyline, everything. The writers should be ashamed of themselves. The only saving grace was Hawick's handsome face. That is it! The FL was pathetic, disgusting and then some. There was no chemistry between any of the leads. Every message sent in this show is warped and so wrong. Keep a child from its father, allow a phsyco b..ch! to get away with anything, lie, lie and keep on lying. Seems to be a theme of these chinese shows. I could go on and on. The show was horrible all the way to the horrible ending. I am so sorry I wasted my time. Was this review helpful to you?

Boring
Oh so boring! I know this is an older show but like both male leads so thought I would give it a go. Female lead I do like as well but really disliked her character in this show. Some viewers thought she was amazing and so real. I thought she was incredibly pathetic and weak. Her constant lying got to me after a while. The two main men in her life were not believable. No way a sane man would put up with that. I skipped 5 episodes in the middle 12-17 and missed nothing. I will also say the ending made zero sense. ZERO. Do not waste your time. Was this review helpful to you?
Could Have Been So Much Better
Where to begin with this one? ML was ok in my mind, I did not find him as attractive as most people did. He seemed a little flat and boring to me. The FL I found a bit annoying but ok at the beginning. As the story progressed she did fall into the typical c-drama pitfall of overacting; espcecially her crying scenes. There were way to many of them in my opinion. The chemistry between the leads was cute and funny for the first 20 or so episodes and I really enjoyed their push/pull relationship. I began to get a little tired of their relationship towards the end, particularly the female lead and her attitude and mood swings. She was all over the place and the gratuitous sex before she left the first time really irritated me. The second ML was typical of cdramas, he was the good guy/boring/never does anything wrong/just does not stand out type. The sister of the FL was just a horrible human being. I can not stand people who are their own constant pity party and blame everyone else for their own shortcomings. The cinematography was good, OST ok. Then we get to the ending which in my opionion ruined the whole story and made me angry I wasted 34 hours of my time. It also fell into typical cdrama trope land with a lot of unnecessary deaths/plot twists. Do the writers not understand that sometimes less is more? I tend to not read reviews before I watch a show; wierd right? I guess I really want to form my own opinion without outside interference. I then go read the reviews to see if many of my thoughts were validated . They certainly were for this show. Many people seemed to hate the ending of this show. With good reason I might add. All in all it was entertaing and funny thru the first 23/24 episodes and then it got really boring. If they had made the show 30 episodes they might have saved it but 34 was to many. I say watch if you have free time and nothing else on your watch list. Was this review helpful to you?
Very Enjoyable
I have never been much of a crime/detective drama fan but I really enjoyed this one. It might be Chen Xiao, who is one of my absolute favorite Chinese actors but the remainder of the cast were stellar as well. It was 24 episodes so it did not really drag as much as those 30 episodes and longer dramas. It jumped between two timelines, the present 2010, and 1997. They did this very well in my opinion, it never got too confusing. I do not want to spoil anything by getting to deep into the drama but if you are a crime/police drama fan you should give this one a try.Was this review helpful to you?
Appealing Story
This show gets a good solid 7 from me. I really enjoyed the first 20 or so episodes and the characters were fun and interesting. The cinematography was quite lovely and the music was well done. I have become a big Chen Xiao fan lately and like Liu Yi Fei. I think she is quite lovely and he is so expressive with just his eyes and gaze. The side characters were good and the strong women banding together theme was refreshing to see in a c-drama. It really captivated me and I was loving it until I was not. The writers just could not help themselves from throwing in a few tropes that were entirely unnecessary. Mainly the I am breaking up with you for your own good trope. I think that was thrown in as a filler to get through 7-8 episodes. Definately not needed. It was a 9 for me until episode 27 or so and then it digressed. The last 13 episodes were to me poorly written. The ending was a total letdown. I almost gave it a 6 but just love Chen Xiao so upped it to a 7. It is definatley one of the better c-dramas out there these days but why oh why can the writers of these dramas not learn the lesson that sometimes less is more? Was this review helpful to you?
