This show doesn't excuse stalking-
But it does aspire to redeem a stalker. I found this show fascinating and very enjoyable. As a dark romance book lover, I was fully prepared to overlook the stalking anyway (I'm not here to defend my book tastes so don't come for me ?), however this show did not intend to let the viewer overlook this.Nishina was very mentally unstable and unhealthy. He was suicidal and latched onto the person who saved him and this grew into obsession. His obsession lead to his delusion that what he was doing was just keeping her safe. We watch as he breaks down and comes to terms with his actions. Sakamoto sees that his intentions were well placed, but poorly executed. He stands firm that regardless of your intentions, how your actions affect someone else are what matters, therefore his actions were inexcusable. This hard truth really opens Nishina's eyes and crumbles the illusion before him. He realizes his actions are no different than Fujiko's workplace stalker and harasser.
The show doesn't excuse Nishina. He says, "but I didn't hurt her, I wasn't violent." because he only followed from a distance and took her picture. The message is non-negotiable that despite the intent, the trauma caused to Fujiko is the same. In his case, maybe worse because she truly fell for him. This is where he is redeemed. He truly did not realize his actions and takes the time to process and reflect. He realized the harm of listening to his inner voice rather than considering her feelings. He admitted he had been so in tune with his inner monolog, he was too far gone. He took his talk with Sakamoto to heart and began the process of actually changing.
The proof of his change is really highlighted by the scene where Fujiko says she loves him. He doesn't immediately abandon his dream and his journey for himself. He acknowledges that he does love her, but he has to change. These two demonstrate a healthy relationship foundation through supporting each other, even in times of distance.
Nishina definitely needed therapy. But I did appreciate this show demonstrating his commitment to becoming a better person. I think this was well done, well acted, and definitely worth the watch!

idk what to even say
I'm shocked by how hard this show flopped. This flopped harder for me than Pitbabe. Like what WAS this? This should've been wrapped and cut before they ever left the island because the second they left the sea it was a snooze fest. The drama was so painfully stupid. The GL was so boring I just had to skip it. I expected a dramatic masterpiece and was given less than mid. Even the NC scenes off the island were so bad. What happened?! I really hope Boy Next World or whatever isn't this bad, but I'm losing hope. Was this review helpful to you?
Mixed feelings
This was an 8/10 for me until the group trip and it got gradually worse from there. What I liked: The concept, the actors, and the production quality.
What I didn't like:
1. It was a good start, then it got a little stale, and then it got so messy. It is completely unclear to me what the purpose of the soul mates serves to this plot. The parents didn't end up together. Tai had a soul mate for 2 years and then randomly a second one? All Tai had to do was get overwhelmed and scream to sever his connection with everyone? So then the show is like create your own fate! Soul mates don't matter! Then dropping a bomb in the last few seconds of the finale?! The concept is good, but jeez pick a lane.
2. The relationships were undeveloped. Lom spent 99% of the show obsessed with Tai and then at the very end he's like Tien I love you! & when did Tien even fall for him?? Did not see that lol. They barely had any moments that could sell me on their romance. Tai and Patt's was a lot better, but could've had more depth.
3. EVERYTHING WAS LITERALLY TAI'S FAULT???!!! How did everyone just sweep under the rug that he knew people were telling him Lom liked him. He intentionally LIED repeatedly to his BOYFRIEND so he could spend the day with Lom. Let Lom kiss him. & this is all after he yanked Patt back and forth with his uncertainty. Yet Patt was the villain.
4. Patt's meltdown, behavior, actions, etc. were so out of character in episode 10 it's not even funny. I could get the crying and frustration, but not that physically violent behavior and screaming. He was the sweetest, most patient, softest character and then randomly they were like "slam things around and push Tai while you punch Lom" like hello?
This show is still enjoyable, but there are definitely some aspects that make me go huh???

A lot of mixed feelings
Some parts of this show were quite cute (the beginning and the last few seconds lmao). It started out with promise and I was enjoying it, but before the halfway mark I was bored and it was falling flat. The acting also wasn't very good, it seemed that they all had one tone for every situation.NC: ?
Happy: ?
Danger: ?
Sad: ?
I was very interested in this couple and their mysterious back story from the Cutie Pie days, however finding out everything I was like really???? I personally found the big secret so so SILLY. ? Now that might just fall on the OG manga, but the acting in this series did not sell me, nor did that CGI tiger. & did the dad even like his son? Why did he randomly try to steal his guard and go, "remember he is the reason your dad is dead." hello??? he was a literal child when the tiger accident happened.
Zee and NuNew were my favorite part, as well as the poor bug eye dog lmao.
It wasn't AWFUL, but I don't think I'd watch it again.

Cooking Bust
This show started out cute, but it derailed so fast. They wasted so much time on absolute nothingness and pointless plots with poor resolutions. I am rating this as high as I am just because Off killed it. This was not an OffGun series, I really want Off paired with someone else at this point. Gun is a phenomenal actor, but this show made me see how limited he is. Gun just doesn't have the range to do romantic comedy, and that's okay. But that doesnt change that his performance was flat, and half of their kisses he seemed disgusted or like he didn't want to kiss Off. I'm not sure if this was the character or actor, but neither scenario makes sense. The amount of back and forth and half baked resolutions crammed into the finale really sealed this show's fate for me. I can't say I would recommend this or watch it again sadly. This was a GMMTV miss for me, and an OffGun miss.

Ugh!
1. Yuki deserved SO much better than Akira.2. The fact Akira randomly dumped Yuki after ELEVEN YEARS and married a whole other person for several years before taking off his clown makeup and standing up to his mother...
3. Akira literally ruined his whole life like tf?! This plot ruined the whole relationship for me. He did not have to destroy Yuki like that. ?
4. The ending was very mixed emotions. Bittersweet and depressing. I was still reeling over the last 40 minutes of Akira throwing a grenade to his life.
5. I wanted to love this and feel like I got too caught up in my feels to enjoy the rest of this movie. ? He could've broken up for a couple years and been single. Accepted a job somewhere. Anything, but what he actually did. & the seven or eight years it took for them to get back together... nah nah nah NAH.

I loved this so much!
I loved the manga, and then I loved this even more! This show stuck closely to the original manga story and perfectly showcased the emotions of this story. These two are separated by tragedy and must find their way back to their true love.
I felt the emotions; despair, love, jealousy, and rage. This was so wonderfully done. I feel some things even came across stronger than they did in the manga. Ren's friend, especially, really had me reading to come through the screen!
One of the most interesting BLs I've watched in a while. Highly recommend!

This literally had no point...
Romance? Where?Coming of age? Where?
See the cast and acting wasn't bad. The issue is this had no direction or point whatsoever.
1. This is advertised as a BL. It is not. They try to rope you in with some "steamy" scenes, but thankfully this is not very steamy. Chimon, who I did not even recognize until looking this movie up on MDL, was 16 when this came out (younger if they filmed any year beforehand). The sexualizing they did was bad enough so thank goodness they didn't have him in actual NC scenes. Yuck.
2. The main character's sexuality was not determined or pursued. So how is this a coming of age? He watched a guy get a blowie and was like hmmm that's hot. But he rejected the guy interested in him. He ended up befriending another guy, Toy, and falling for him, who rejected him. Toy's sexuality is presumed straight, despite everyone insisting he was in the closet, there is not enough context to confirm this. The two guys the lead encounters were blips on the radar. His mom also rejected the possibility of him being gay too. So it immediately got swept under the rug all together. Like they really said nevermind this is actually about him going to college. ??♀️
3. He tried to unalive himself and his friends just popped up out of nowhere. The ending was so rushed and stupid. Then it just focused on him getting into college through a couple time jumps and then he and Toy become friends again.
Literally what was the point of this movie? Speedos. Underdeveloped plot masquerading as a romance as an excuse to get a bunch of speedos on screen. So unless I saw a different version than everyone else, that was it.

This is as good as everyone says!
I can't believe I binged this for 12 hours straight, but also... yes I can. This was so good I couldn't hit pause! The way this series absolutely captured my heart, broke it, and put it back together is insane.
As a spice lover, I almost didn't notice the fact the leads only kissed once (I think) so they did an amazing job selling the romance with little physical intimacy! (Though it is implied to have happened a lot off screen making it cheeky and funny)
Non being an angsty high schooler made a great villain. I thoroughly hated him. His immaturity and age showed quite well!
I loved both main couples, Rain and his love interest didn't interest me at all tbh. But Sun and Mork omg. Amazing!! Ofc Kao and Pete were epic.
I actually haven't seen any of the prequels and had no issue understanding and falling in love with this cast and the plot. Well done!

Hidden agenda or hidden PLOT?
This was definitely a snoozefest. In 12 episodes I can barely remember anything that happened. Every week a new episode came out I had already forgotten the last one.
Zo is not a likeable character. At any point. Also no matter what happens; big, small, happy, or sad, Dunk's acting stays the exact same. ?
Zo could manage to give the dead whiplash with all the back and forth he put Joke through. Joong was good, I adore him, but even he couldn't save this show. He needs a script that will showcase his talent and a partner who can show emotions and give chemistry.
I'd recommend this if you want something kinda low key, medium angst?

Eh...
I feel like I have bad luck with BL movies. They are never good.Story: The story progression of this did not make sense to me. It was mostly like watching a silent movie. Not many lines, no buildup, just a bunch of scenes pushed together. The lines you did get contributed to a very boring plot line. There wasn't even a happy ending.
Acting/Casting: The whole thing was just bland and seems to exist just for the sex scenes tbh. Those scenes were decent, you could feel the chemistry between everyone, but that's about it.
Music: Not amazing and not awful. Probably the only good thing in the movie.
Rewatch: Not likely.

Better than Naughty Babe
Pros:* No CGI tiger (jk there is one lmao, but it's not as cringe)
* Nat's acting improved (a little)
* Interesting plot/premise
* Drastically better (in my opinion) than Naughty Babe
* The set and music were pretty nice
Cons:
* Max still seems stuck with the same tone and facial expressions
* Again, Nat's acting only improved a little
* Got a little fuzzy in the execution and definitely had some slow parts
Overall worth watching if you like MaxNat, maybe if you don't know them. if you don't care for them then I doubt this will impress you. I do give it major points for creativity and a little action between Nat and someone who isn't Max.

Definitely worth the hype!
Surprisingly, for the length of this show, it didn't feel long at all. I've had shows with half the amount of episodes, feel longer. This kept me engaged and entertained despite the fact nothing drastic really happened. This is a sloooowwww burn on the BL aspect, which isn't my favorite, but SOTUS was successful in my book.
My only real "complaint" I guess is there is something about Singto's acting in this that just didn't sell me on the romantic chemistry aspect. Kongpop was brave, funny, and cheeky. Singto aced all of these areas in his role, however it just felt like the spark was missing between Singto and Krist. Krist did amazing in all areas, including the romantic chemistry. Krist has such expressive eyes. But something about Singto's acting just missed this mark and his smiles seemed forced in the show.
Overall it is worth the hype I'd say. SOTUS is a fresh and unique story, even all these years later!

Ofc it's rushed!
For whatever reason K-dramas want to take 20 something chapter mangas/webtoons and cram them into 8, 15 minute episodes.I think given this trend in these BL K-dramas the cast and crew did just fine. The two leads especially, I didn't have issues with their acting. They did lightyears better than the "Naughty Babe" cast. ?
The Director Who Buys Me Dinner was also a victim of long story crammed into a tiny show, that was not a good experience for me, it made zero sense. It was, quite frankly, a hot mess. Bump Up Business is rushed at worst. The plot made sense. It was a cute and pleasant watch. It was good, sure if it had more of a time slot it could've been great.
I'm not familiar with this K-pop group so I don't have any bias nor did I have any expectations. I think it's worth a watch if you're looking for something bite-sized. It's not riveting or amazing, but it's not bad at all in my opinion.
