This is an excellent watch overall. I found myself eagerly anticipating episodes every week. I may be bias in that I watch a lot of whodunit stories and have read plenty of novels with such storylines, but it's hard to get a good detective mystery drama that's set in the wuxia world. Each arc was nicely done and the acting was good. I know a lot of people have said that the ML is boring but I think it's a very interesting character and the ending sets it up perfectly for another season (though cdramas have a tendency to not film a second season, I really hope this one gets another season!). Producers did a good job in casting; though the actors were all new faces to me, I really enjoyed their acting and the FL's expressive eyes, ooohhhh you could just feel it! Chemistry between the actors was IMO perfect. Looking forward to more dramas with Tim Yu, Rachel Wang and Wang Yan Yang.
Every good drama needs great music and the ending theme song was just perfect. I actually played the song on loop for an hour when I first heard it! I enjoy rewatching my fav scenes but for this drama, I ended up rewatching all 18 eps 2-3 times before today's final episodes. Thank you to the Ancient Detective team for bringing us this wonderfully executed plot, now please give us SEASON TWO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
