Give this show a try
I have been waiting for this drama to come out for a pretty long time and this was it. I was so excited to start watching it. The trailer was well made and it gave it away to me so I stopped watching my other drama and started watching this one. Dance of the Sky Empire drama is so just cute and adorable to me, but it's pretty good overall. There are a few parts that are hilarious, which made me laugh pretty hard and there were sad parts as for choosing where your alliance stays. I think the scenery of this drama were amazing. They sure put a lot of effort into it. Story line was also great. It starts off with a pretty mysterious beginning and a back story. The actors and actresses were unique. I literally watched it all day trying to find out what happens next and I can't wait for the next episode to come out. Loved the first few episodes. Give it a try!Was this review helpful to you?
AN ABSOLUTE MASTERPIECE
I freaking love it! This show has been on my drama list since 2019 because I saw it everywhere on social media so I added but I have never got to the show because I was just eh when I read the summary of the series. I regret not watching it earlier but during this year's quarantine I went through my list of dramas and I decided to try it out. I'm glad I need it because this drama is amazing. I remember when I was younger I always loved watching those historical romance dramas, understanding those emotions, and putting myself in their shoes. Watching through this drama made me go through a roller coaster of emotions. Understanding friendship, family, lovers, choices, sacrifices made. I swear I have never cried so much over a drama. The scenes are beyond what I expected and the theme has such a deep meaning. I remember the first time I watched this I was like, why in the creature world are these boys so beautiful and I thought I was good looking. I think I have met the dream of my dramas, I can watch this so many times but I do have school so can't really. Was this review helpful to you?

costume: 8.5cast; 9
music: 8.5
Story: 8.5
Based on the average I would rate this drama around an 8, (8.6) to be more specific).
This drama has been a hit for me because it's been a while since I've seen a good martial arts fantasy drama. I like the acting very much, with both leads having their looks and acting skills. Yang Yang never fails me with his dramas and I've been looking forward to this one. Zhao Lusi I was a bit concerned that she wouldn't be able to bring out the martial arts heroine but to my surprise, she did an amazing job bringing out Bai Fengxi.
The costume was good, especially the plain robes of both Hei Fengxi and Bai Fengxi in the martial world. I also like the difference in their clothing when they switched from being in the martial arts world vs. their political court affairs.
Song Unpallared, at the beginning of the intro, had a good beat for a martial arts show like this.
The storyline was catchy in my opinion and had my attention. Though there was a lot of politics there was also a lot of action which is what I'd like to see. There were also times when a few romance scenes popped up making me want to ship, their ship name basically "Hei Feng Bai Xi" even more. The last few episodes leading up to the ending seemed a bit rushed and there were just too many things happening but I did like how the beginning episodes from 1-10 led me in. From my perspective, I didn't really like the ending for some reason. I don't really know why.

Xianxia Dramas are starting to go downhill
Why did I start watching?I can't say that I originally watched this drama for the main cast, however, the drama has left me disappointed.
Story
There's nothing too new but I feel like the story like is the same old same old along with other xianxia dramas. The story went downhill after Shang Gu (the female lead) was reborn in the immortal realm.
Casting
I was looking forward to this drama after Xu Kai's Arsenal Military Academy and Legend of Zhao Yao. Zhou Dongyu isn't a bad actress either cause I've seen some of her other dramas. But I just feel like her appearance doesn't match the fairy-like appearance of the drama and in my opinion, the side female leads were more of a candy to the eye.
Overall
After the storyline went down, I couldn't raise my interest for the rest of the drama. But I did ultimately finish the rest of the drama. The ending was HE.

whats with these english titles?
there's not really anything wrong with the drama but honestly, these English titles need to be put more effort in. I've come across more dramas than I expected that have "legend/legend of," so these titles don't appeal to me as much. It is a good thing I chose to watch this drama because it led me to the introduction of actress Bai Lu and actor Xu Kai.Storyline: It was definitely different from other xianxia/wuxia dramas I have watched. I have nothing else to say about the storyline except that it got a little messy and fact-pacing towards the end. Some scenes were probably unnecessary and could be cut without affecting the storyline.
Cast/Acting: Bai Lu's character astonished me deeply. Although I love all the other characters Bai Lu played, Lu Zhaoyao never seems to disappoint me. I really enjoy dramas with strong female leads and this drama did it. Either walk like you're the queen or you don't care who the queen is, is how I would describe Lu Zhaoyao's personality. I would really consider Bai Lu one of the few actresses who is 倾国倾城 meaning desperately beautiful, this is because of her crying scenes in many other dramas. I also really love Lu Zhaoyao and Qin Zhiyan's interactions throughout the drama, the sisterly love. Xu Kai's character isn't bad but personally, Bai Lu's character was a bigger eye candy than his, AND OMG CAN WE TALK ABOUT JIANG WU?!! He literally brought the comedy to this show and I just absolutely love this character.
Music: I ain't complaining but one of the songs apart of this drama sounds kinda of sad when I heard the lyrics and beat but it sounds really good. These songs are really a hit in my opinion and when I had completed this show I went to find the songs and add them to my playlist.

One of the best sci-fi cdrama I've seen
I've got to say this is my 4th time watching this drama and I just can't get over the excitement and the 10 different emotions that run through me when I'm watching.First let's start with casting/acting
In my opinion the cast of this show if just MAGNIFICENT, every character had their own style and the main casts really brings out characters. The female lead keeps me humorous throughout the entire show and I think Janice Wu did a fabulous job. I didn't expect to have a Korean male lead act in a cdrama and he did a good job bringing out Xue Lingqiao. Although he is serious throughout the story but at times I feel like the character was brought to life with his acting. The only thing that was off was the dubbing in the drama. I'm not super annoyed but it's something I can pick out and clearly visible. Otherwise the entire cast did a beautiful job of bringing their characters to life and nowadays it's kind of hard to find a drama with good acting and beautiful looking faces.
Storyline - spoilers
OMG!!! I never thought I would like watching sci fi dramas but this drama changed it. The storyline of this drama is very interesting and keeps me at hook, I love the interactions between the 2 main leads and especially the interactions the female lead has with the supports roles Feng Dongdong (assistant) and Zhang Xuanxuan (her best friend/a list celeb) since the female lead acts as a female star herself. Xue Lingqiao's story is enriching and it makes since as long as you don't skip through the episodes. One of my favorite part is when Xue Lingqiao explains how he "flies" in the air. The ending of the story was expected but I didn't want it to be ended that way and of course there is a season 2 but I don't know how to feel about it. I dropped it at ep 3 but I did see a clip of season 2's last episode and I do know that the main leads end up together and even have a son. Puts me at ease to know that they do end up together.
OST/Music
The beginning music of the episodes is very catchy and has a up beat rhythm to it. I could listen to the song on replay for hours. I also really like the MV to the songs so go check it out if you'd like.
Rewatch Value
Considering this is my 4th time rewatching, it's worth my time! Only 28 episodes which is pretty short inside of those long cdramas that have 50-60 episodes and a lot of the times there are some scenes that aren't necessary for those long dramas.

........
Acting:I hope to see more improvement in Yang Chaoyue's acting skills. I thought the male lead did ok. However, I do like the character that Fu Jing played even though she was the antagonist.
Storyline:
The storyline just wasn't as captivating as the description made it seem or the trailer I saw.
Visuals:
As for the cast visuals, I wasn't disappointed but wasn't super excited either. I've seen the Manhua version so the cast visuals was alright. As a xianxia drama, the production team did do a good job with the effects and all.
Overall, it just wasn't it for me...
