OMG! It's Bad

It was somewhat bearable at first, until episode 7 where things turned for the worst. I didn't have high expectations for this show, considering the ratings, the comments, and the actors past show histories but still gave it a try. Not worth the watch, it's very messy, and I was confused a lot, the plot wasn't super interesting, it was funny sometimes but some jokes weren't delivered, there's also a lot of SA and weird shit that shouldn't be acceptable or ok in shows to be shown just like that. And yeah overall not enjoyable. I also had to skip through the last episode which is very rare for me to do, because it was so boring. PS: I would've loved for Mick to be more than a comedic character, which is something I didn't like either, I see a pattern in chubby characters being used as creeps, stalkers, funny characters but never the main or anything of the sort but that's another story for another day. Anyway, I lowkey shipped him with Mai at the end ngl.

Toxic, Confusing, Wasted potential, Overrated

Honestly I wasn’t planning on reviewing this show because I wanted to just binge watch this one and Stay With Me. But omg this show makes me so mad and I just have to speak about it. First of all I really despise the fact that this show is so glorified and overrated because it seriously isn’t all that it’s played out to be. I will admit the actors are good, the plot had somewhat potential but overall it’s mediocre and just a typical story. Nothing out of the ordinary. And the fact that it got banned and they had to remove scenes doesn’t help this case (though I don’t blame them for this since it’s out of their control) but still even the deleted scenes aren’t the best because almost all of them are just Gu Hai sexually harassing Bai Lou Yin and it just makes me so angry. There’s nothing cute or romantic about someone forcing themselves onto someone when they obviously don’t want anything intimate. And honestly half of the people who comment or leave reviews don’t talk about this and it’s so weird. It’s just a show, I know, but overhyping this show even though it has a mediocre plot and the only “romantic” content it shows is just pure sexual harassment is just wow. Usually I trust the shows that are rated lower on MDL than the higher rated shows because for some reason I tend to like shows that are usually rated like 7 and under rather than shows that are rated 8 and up. Idk what it is but that’s just how it works for me. I do like to give overhyped shows like these a chance to see what all the hype is about but everytime it’s always just very basic and disappointing or very boring and bad. But anyway, back on track another thing that I disliked was how Gu Hai was always treating Bai Luo Yin as property, an object or some sort of belonging. With the over jealous behavior and even getting physical with people when he felt jealous, also straight up telling Bai Luo Yin that he belongs to him and that he owns him is just huge red flag. This man is just toxic all over and it’s disguised by “romance”. But to contradict what I’ve been saying in this review I will state that I enjoyed the last episode the most out of the others and it’s maybe because the kisses and intimacy was more consented this time and more voluntary on both sides which was good, also things were starting to get interesting since Bai Luo Yin’s ex came back and you can tell if this show hadn’t been cancelled then it would’ve been really good and probably much better. But once again it wasn’t something they could’ve controlled so I don’t hold it against them. I will say that the chemistry was confusing, it felt like Bai Luo Yin didn’t really like him until episode 15 and that’s when he acted upon his feelings but I feel like at the same time he was forced to start liking Gu Hai. But at the same time he could’ve had hidden feelings for Bai Luo Yin and at towards each episode he realized that more and more but was a bit in denial or scared which is common. Regardless it was a bit confusing and that could’ve been portrayed or explained a bit better through actions or something.

Overall, would I recommend? No. It’s not horrible, trust me I’ve watched worse. But it’s an unfinished show, along with its censorship, but even with censorship poor Bai Luo Yin is just getting constantly sexually harassed, then the plot is just mediocre, the whole show is just Gu Hai chasing Bai Luo Yin and it makes me so irritated cause the feelings don’t feel mutual for like the entire show until episode 15. So yeah, don’t waste your time and watch something better. It’s really not worth it and wasted potential. And let me tell you they did not lie when they named this show Addicted because that’s just what Gu Hai is towards Bai Luo Yin. Addicted.

Mediocre

Didn’t expect much from this drama since the reviews weren’t the best and the ratings aren’t high. But overall this show is mediocre, the story is mediocre, the acting is mediocre, the chemistry is mediocre, everything is just mediocre. I wasn’t very entertained and lowkey forced myself to finish this series because I had like 2-3 episodes left but I considered dropping, there’s nothing special about this show and it’s even cringe and embarrassing at times. This is common in shows/BL’s, mainly Japanese ones but like this show doesn’t do a good job at compensating us for the cringe/embarrassing moments so it just adds to how bad it is. It felt like I was watching 2 teens try to have a adult/mature relationship but failing miserably, I can’t believe these are adults who are prob in their late 20s/ early 30s. Soga was so unbelievably annoying, his cringe personality and annoying way of speaking, the stops he would take in every micro phrase he would say drove me nuts, and the shy behavior was so annoying too omg. Sakae was more bearable, he had his cringe moments but he had a better personality than Soga. Overall this show is just something you would watch if you had nothing else to do/watch, you won’t gain anything from watching and it’s overall basic and just your “typical” love story.

Very Bland, What Was The Point?

Overall, this show is just mediocre, there isn’t much going on with half of the show, it’s very simple and doesn’t have anything accelerating the mood. I guess you can call it somewhat of a slow burn, I also didn’t like how fast they got together and how God liked Diew without even meeting him face to face, and it's not even about God liking Diew for his personality either since they hadn’t even talked that much too so idk it just didn’t spark for me. As for Diew being an introvert it was somewhat relatable to me, I am introverted and I also have social anxiety, but even so, the things he would do are things I don’t 100% relate to, kind of feels stereotypical, but I guess it’s different for everyone since it's like a spectrum so I won’t judge. Anyway, here are some things I noticed while watching the show that I wrote down.

- [ ] Intro song is bad, when I first heard it, it wasn’t ear pleasing it literally sounds like Bright singing, but after them playing that song a thousand billion times it sounded a bit better. But seriously did the group not have any other songs to play?

- [ ] That poor turtle has been abused the entire show, smaller container each time, even its home is small asf, notice how it’s trying to climb out of its container in every shot there is of the turtle, like seriously this isn’t even criticizing the show its just about that poor turtle I hope it was treated properly during shooting and I hope it has a bigger home because thats like a food container size.

- [ ] Acting is kinda awkward most of the time in general, honestly this is mainly towards both ml, like half the show they were all happy and stuff so the acting was very awkward for some reason and it felt so scripted, but towards the end it did improve way more, you can see more emotions because things started taking turns, and more conflicts were being introduced, but it took a while for us to get that, like having to wait till episode 10-11 is insane for us to have some action and some decent acting.

- [ ] 2nd couple carried, wish they had more screen time, loved their chemistry and just everything, I don’t have much to say for them cause again barely any screen time but they did good with what they had.

- [ ] Ending was mid, I’ve never waited for a BL episode EVER cause I usually make sure that the show is completely finished but I wasn’t aware that I had to wait for this one, let’s just say it wasn’t worth the wait.

In conclusion, this show is literally the definition of mediocre, nothing much, nothing less, honestly nothing really made up for the lack of story there is, everything just revolves around Diew being an introvert and that’s it. I think this could’ve had better potential if more things were taken into count. And I still can’t get over how awkward and low-key bad the acting was at times. I just checked and Park (Diew) has been in like 3 shows so I guess it explains, he still needs more practice. But yeah, it’s a very bland story, personally wouldn’t recommend. It really sucks that I’m mainly writing bad about this show, because even if a show is bad I usually find a way to see good things in it, and I have things to compliment, but this show was just so bland that it’s hard to do that. I want to be honest with this review and this is all I have to say.

A True Love Story

Not to hate on any other love dramas because at the end of the day love is a abstract thing that can be seen, felt, shown etc. in many ways. But this drama depicts true love and forbidden love so damn well. From the actions to words everything being shown makes me feel warm inside and makes me crave this kind of love from someone, the chances of a lot of us experiencing this kind of love ever is probably rare, mainly because of todays society. But I'm going off task now, I just have so much to say about this show because when I say this I mean it, this show was an absolute masterpiece.

The Acting
-------------
I mean what can I say, it was spot on. Every emotion and feeling is portrayed extremely well and realistic, everything is so beautifully shown, raw, and real, it makes me dive into the story even more while I'm feeling what the characters are feeling. All the actors did an amazing job and I honestly give props to that since it's hard to do so good.

Cinematography
---------------------
Spectacular, this show conveys the old/vintage aesthetic and the whole vibe so well with its cinematic scenes. I loved how aesthetically pleasing this show was to watch with its effects and beautiful cinematography, so eye catching that you would be lost in it along with the story and music.

Music
--------
Honestly another rare thing that shows have in general is good music, some shows even play music in scenes that don't match the vibe or just aren't ear pleasing. But omg this show had such amazing music that along with the acting, story, lines, and cinematography it dove you even deeper into the story until you felt like you were there with them.

Fav Quotes/Lines
----------------------
The actors lines, and quotes were so poetically said, mainly by Yai, he was so poetic with Jom and that also made me feel so warm inside and I felt the love that was being shared by them both. Their love is beyond and so beautiful. Some of my favorite lines/quotes are:

"Not a drop of liquor to interfere, drunk on love's celestial bliss. I've tried to resist this sweet intoxication, no matter how drunk I am, sobriety comes with the morning light. Drunk on love, my heart undone every night". -Yai Ep 4

"I've missed you. We haven't slept together for only a few days. I couldn't help but yearn for you". -Yai Ep 10

"For you, I'm addicted to you". -Yai Ep 10

“With the matter of time, I might already be your past, but for me you are my future”. -Yai Ep 12

Yai is such a poet with these lines, he shows so much love towards Jom and honestly Jom deserves every bit of it because of his past, I know if I was Jom I would feel so loved with these words and actions that Yai shows to Jom. Absolutely beautiful.

The Ending
--------------
I didn’t necessarily get half of the ending, but upon reading some comments on here I understand it a bit more. I didn’t get how Yai was waiting for Jom and how they got to meet during the current time (2023) but apparently it was a reincarnation of Yai aka Lek’s (Yai’s little brother) grandson (Yai Kanthorn) that also remembered his past lives, therefore he knew about Jom and that’s why he was waiting for him. Now the only part of the end I don’t get is the part where Jom goes back in time again? Maybe even further back in time possibly? Not sure. What I’m wondering is why? And how? What could’ve possibly made this happen again? And what’s the reason if they apparently met again in Jom’s timeline (2023)??? There’s so many questions just from those last couple minutes and it’s a MUST to have a second season to answer these questions and make this show clearer at the end. I know there’s a special episode but I can’t see it or find it anywhere since I think it’s released in specific countries or a country (not sure) so it’s very difficult to see. This doesn’t help the ending case since idk if that episode answers any questions. Idk if we’re getting a second season but I hope so, this story was absolutely beautiful and I would love to have a second season to enjoy even more of this masterpiece.

Overall such an amazing show and would recommend to anyone, it’s a love story, a cinematic masterpiece and just a beautiful show overall with so much representation for multiple communities and even history itself. Worth the watch even for the 1hr+ long episodes, and I hate watching long episodes but this made it worth it.

Cringe & All Over The Place

I watched the Korean remake first and wasn’t planning on watching this one since I heard it wasn’t good but I liked the Korean remake so I wanted to watch more. Therefore I gave this one a try, at first it was okay, I was able to watch it pretty decently, sometimes it was hard to continue because of how cringe the characters were (mainly Zon) and just how boring the whole storyline was in general. The only reason I kept going was because of the relationship between Tutor and Fighter but after they went on their beach vacation that was enough for me to fully get bored, because there was nothing for me to be excited for anymore and since I’ve watched many BL’s I can guess what’s gonna happen in the last 3 episodes I skipped and decided to drop. Therefore I didn’t even finish the show because I won’t sit for 1 hour and 5 min to just watch some cringe content and arguments form. I don’t want to compare this one to the Korean one because at the end of the day this is the OG, but I think the main reason why I liked the Korean one better was because it was short and simple. The story was told fast and with the perfect amount of information we needed for context and that’s it. I really hate long shows and BL’s but some are worth watching every minute of it. This one on the other hand. Wasn’t the best. Was it the worst? No. But could’ve been better. Also I watched “Peach Of Time” before this show and seeing Zafiah and Zon together as a couple just seems wrong to me since I saw them having more of a friendship/brotherly bond rather than a relationship bond. But they’re actors so ofc they’re gonna have different roles and I’m sure they’ve acted in multiple shows together. But I just wasn’t used to it. Anyway, if you like lengthy quirky shows with some cringe in it, then this is for you, if not then I wouldn’t reccomend.

Controversial, But Hear Me Out

Well don’t know where to start with this one, but I will say this BL is a little controversial since it can be viewed in different ways depending on the person. I have a very “in the middle” opinion with this show so I will state what I think like if I’m writing an informative essay… kinda lol.

Some may state that this BL is considered incest while others will state otherwise. But as of now let’s focus on the first opinion.

Is this incest?

Well considering they’re not blood related, no it’s not incest but other factors play a major part into why this could be seen as incest. Other people have mentioned how the fact that since Qian raised Yuan since a very young age that he should not have those sorts of feelings towards Yuan. I read a review saying that it’s understandable that Yuan had those feelings considering his rough past and also him being young and taken care of by Qian could possibly confuse him and make him have feelings for Qian. But Qian reciprocating those feelings is just plainly wrong because for one he’s old enough to understand what’s right and wrong. And two he basically saw Yuan grow so you would guess they would only have a family relationship and feelings towards eachother. Now, this is something that I am confused about, though liking an adopted or non-blood-related person is very possible mostly if they’re adopted already while you’re in your teens or so. But if you’re growing up with them since little I would assume you would only see them as a family member. Like this is what I would see it as but if my family adopted someone when I was very young and I grew up with them I would never have such romantic feelings towards them since once again, I grew up with them and will only see them as a sibling. I’ve also never understood how in some shows best friends that grew up together also start having feelings with eachother because to me if we grow up together I will see you more as a family rather than a friend that could possibly turn into something romantic. You know? Now having a best friend that you grew up with since very young and having an adopted person that you grew up with are very different things because, one is adopted lol so that automatically makes you related to them. But it’s still something that seems to play a similar role to me because once again, if we grow up together, you’re family to me and I will see you as such. It’s not the same as meeting someone who was adopted by your family when you’re, let’s say 15 and they’re 15 too, and by the time you’re a bit older you realize you have feelings for that person because once again you met that person at a pretty mature age and didn’t technically grow up together.

Anyway, that’s all I have to say about that opinion. I side with both opinions being stated for this show. Because once again it’s controversial. But let’s talk about the second opinion and come to a conclusion.

Is it not incest?

Morally speaking it is, realistically speaking from DNA and so on. No, it’s not. No matter what anyone thinks they’re not blood related. So is it not incest? Before I keep going let’s search up what incest is. And from a quick search it states “ Incest is human sexual activity between family members or close relatives. This typically includes sexual activity between people in consanguinity, and sometimes those related by affinity, adoption, or lineage”. Therefore based on this definition what they did is incest since he’s adopted by Qian. But once again they’re not blood related. Since I can remember the word incest has mainly been used when actual blood related members of a family have a romantic relationship between themselves. Though when someone dates their stepbrother or stepsister it’s a little bit more normalized but by some it’s also considered incest. There’s a lot of shows/movies about stepsiblings catching feelings for eachother, but back to the age thing most of the times this is portrayed, the stepsiblings meet when they’re in their late teens and don’t necessarily grow up together. So it’s not as controversial. Cause it’s like a friend of yours or your crush suddenly becoming your stepsibling cause your parent and their parent decided to be together.

Ok that’s all I can think of to say for both sides, ngl trying to write out about this not being incest was a little hard because the way this BL is portrayed is very much incest coded.

But to conclude, this BL is gonna be seen differently by many different people depending on their own personal views and opinions. I myself will admit that I’m in the middle about this show, although I do see why it’s seen as incest I can also accept why it’s not. Yes, it’s more to the incest side because of different factors such as age gap, the fact Yuan was adopted by Qian, the fact that he was very young when he was adopted by Qian, and the fact that Qian played a father, mother and older brother role for both Lili and Yuan throughout the years, and not only until Yuan confessed his feelings did Qian suddenly start having those feelings for him as well which leads me to think that before Yuan showed signs of liking Qian and also confessed, Qian had no such feelings for Yuan. And that thought makes it a bit weird but also not? Once again, controversial as fuck. Very complex to actually put a label on it as either incest or not incest. At the end of the day, they were both kids when they met eachother, there was an age gap but possibly no bigger than 7 years, but still they were kids when they met. They both had hard lives and tough pasts. A lot of trauma and no therapy or anything that could’ve emotionally helped them. Even Qian would have nightmares about his mother, therefore he isn’t mentally stable to make more mature reasonable decisions such as not dating your adopted brother. Both need therapy and need help mentally, and the fact that they liked eachother isn’t 100% their fault, most likely not their fault at all. For one you can’t control your feelings, and second they’re both not mentally stable to possibly understand how weird it actually is. And the fact that everyone else accepted it so easy didn’t help this case either. Because in reality this probably wouldn’t have been so easily accepted by people mostly coming from a gay relationship. But that’s just how this show turned out to be and we must accept it as it is. Overall I will admit it was a good show, the acting was good, the story was decent, and everything else was good too. It’s just a little controversial but that shouldn’t be something you let ruin your watching experience, mostly when you consider the other factors as to why things turned out the way they were. Was it a little unrealistic in some parts? Yes. But this whole show is a little unrealistic and controversial all over. But also realistic and relatable in certain parts.

Final thoughts

Have an open mind when you watch this show, your opinion is valid whether you think this is incest or not, or both. It’s up to you to let this show be a certain experience for you wether that be a bad, good or both. But let’s not lie, the chemistry was good, and so was the acting, casting, and directing.

Overall: 8.8/10

Educational, Sentimental, Intriguing

This show shows you the perspective of different kinds of relationships varying in ages and sexualities. Showing the ups and downs of each relationship and how they solve them throughout the series. It educates people on different topics such as sex, family, relationships, marriage and more. I really enjoyed this series because it kept me entertained but also seemed educational in different aspects. It gave you the perspective of all the characters and how some things can be misunderstandings and could be minor issues that with miscommunication it becomes a bigger problem but with time, patience, cooperation, communication and involvement it could be fixed. It showed the struggles of what a married couple could experience at a specific moment in their marriage and how it affects them overall, this show does an amazing job at showing how sexual attraction can be affected once you’ve been with someone for a long time and how issues with sexual intercourse could arise due to lack of time, lack of interest, and just not enough communication and also making plans to switch things up here and there. It showed conflict, sentimental, happy and confusing moments and more with family and how it all evolved through the series. The tension, connection, and intimate moments shared in this series speak for themselves, while some sex scenes scream out love and affection others scream out as a cry for help in the relationship because the bond is just not there during it causing conflict and confusion in the relationships. This show does a great job as being realistic on multiple subjects and how it affects multiple people in either a positive or negative way. While this show is mainly targeted as a sex show, focusing on only sex is not the main plot, there’s more to it and it takes you for a ride so expect yourself to cry, laugh, and have your heart pounding throughout the spicy scenes and passionate kisses. Overall a beautiful show with realistic scenes and many characters stories being shown to keep you extra entertained. Really recommend this show!

Not Bad, But It's The Same Thing Every Time

I've noticed a pattern between all SUKFILM BL's, like Blue Boys, Bad Guy and now Seoul Blues, they all have a very similar plot and it doesn't help that the actors are always the same, now no hate towards the fact that the actors are always the same like I have watched many BL's with the same actors as other BL's but the problem I have with this is how similar the plot is and how nothing seems to change, it's always the same with the girl liking the main couple and getting hurt and then is never seen again for the rest of the show, or the ex coming back to stir some drama into the newly happy relationship, and they are always in the same places too, the cafes, the apartments, I guess with budget things are limited but once again no hate towards things that can't be preventable, I just need more creativity towards the story and characters personalities. I will admit this one was slightly better than Blue Boys and Bad Guy for some reason, I didn't get as bored or annoyed as the other 2 but I will still not rate this any higher than I rated the other 2 because it still lacks, and regardless of being able to see the effort they put in a lot of things and seeing the quality it has in the sense of cinematography, I will still have to give this a 7/10 for the listed things they lack. Regardless I'm hoping for improvement from them, and I hope the upcoming projects are better.

Mhm..Okay...

Honestly this wasn't much, I don't even know where to start with this because a lot is lacking and it could've been way better. I know this was short with 4 episodes each being 10 min or so, but when you know you have this limited time then you work with it and make it fit enough for it to not be/feel rushed, and if you have the ability to make the show longer so things are well paced then do so. Theres so much going on in such little time, everything moved way too fast and I disliked that a lot, also too much drama from the start, a lot of these shows same with Blue Boys start with a lot of drama and it ruins the entire plot, but even so the plot isn't even strong and the characters are not realistic. Ji Un is constantly giving in, like as soon as Tae Ha says to do something he does it, sometimes with no hesitation, he puts no fight and has no self control, while Tae Ha is a wreck himself, doesn't even know where he's going or what he wants so he just does what he wants as they repeated in the show over and over and over. Like yes, we get it, Tae Ha always does what he wants, but man ur literally letting him do so too. Like Ji Un can't complain when he's letting Tae Ha do as he pleases. Poor Ji Un tho he looked like he wanted to cry in every scene, I couldn't tell when he was happy or sad anymore. But idk just these things didn't fit well in the plot and the characters and it's also the fact I saw the Uncut version too, so I can't imagine what the cut version must look like. A lot of room for improvement, but we lowkey got nothing . Regardless production was great, just a lot with the whole plot and characters need a lot of improvement, also I know probably budget is tight with these but they always start at the same cafe and they're lowkey always in very similar/same places. It would improve to see changes in scenery, doesn't even have to be something to waste hundreds of dollars in, creativity is key in these things. Not hating just trying to give my thoughts. Other than that I rate this a 6.5/10, waiting to see improvement in future projects.

Blue Boys Pt.2 Thoughts

{Blue Boys }

I gave this show a second try (I only watched Pt.1). It’s been months since the second part got released and I spent $10 on the membership just to enjoy the full thing and take it all in. IDK why I did it, I just got the urge to (I need help).

My Thoughts On Blue Boys Pt.1

It’s honestly not much different with the membership, yes you get to see them kiss for longer periods of time and it’s more heart throbbing but the plot is lacking so much in so many ways that having them kiss for a minute longer doesn’t do much of a difference in enjoyment. I can say confidently that if this show had ended with only Pt.1 I would’ve rated it super low. Now as I write this review I haven’t watched Pt.2, so I can’t speak much about the overall rating and how much I enjoyed overall. But so far based on Pt.1, with uncut scenes, my rating is 7. I rated it a 6.5 before when it had come out but I think the longer scenes definitely make the ratings go a bit higher but not too high. So 7 is a perfect score for this part.

My Thoughts On Blue Boys Pt.2

This part was definitely more lively than Pt.1, but somehow I am now shipping Choi Jae Min with Tae Ha, idk they seemed like they could be a cuter couple. But regardless I glad this show had a happy ending, this part didn’t have much even with the uncut so that was a bit disappointing but it’s fine. I rate this one a 7 too, still lacking a lot and could have been better. I feel like they had the chance to do more with this part but kept it very mediocre and lowkey. It was ok.

I LOVED IT!

Guys… I’m so happy. I haven’t rated a BL show a 9/10 in a LONG WHILE. But this did it for me, like oh my god I just loved it. I’ve noticed I tend to like BL’s with a traditional setting more regardless of the plot, like it’s just a huge preference for me so I should definitely approach BL’s like that more often. But yeah, let talk about it! I want to appreciate the beautiful scenery in every episode, and the beautiful actors as well. They were all in a face card war cause Jesus they were all beautiful, mainly the mains. The outfits are absolutely stunning and detailed, it just made them look even better. The story was okay, a little confusing, but honestly it was a bit understandable once you reached the end more and more but still some questions. I don’t watch a lot of Chinese BL and I think this is my first traditional setting BL from China, because of the obvious laws in China, and I’m a HUGE physical touch person, it’s a bit controversial but it does make it more interesting to watch. I know this isn’t the most physical touch BL but I loved it regardless, the kiss at the end was worth it, and their chemistry was pretty good. I just loved the whole vibe. In other shows I would probably drop or skip through a lot because honestly the story was a bit mediocre but somehow it kept me hooked, idk what it was but I was hooked. I watched every single episode without skipping or fast forwarding, and that’s like so rare with shows these days, I have to at least fast forward in the last episode or last couple episodes. But here they managed to hook me in each episode, everything perfectly balanced. I really do hope in the future they have more traditional settings in BL’s it doesn’t matter where, either Korea, Japan, China, or Thailand. I know China has a lot of them but they’re very censored, but I mean a BL that’s something like this or even more would be the DEATH of me. Anyway, there really isn’t much to criticize here, other than I wish Zong Zheng Huai En and Jin Xiao Bao had a bit more of screen time being happy, a lot revolved around the drama going on rather than their relationship but at the same time it was enough, honestly a special episode of them just being together for like 20 minutes would be lovely, and last thing to mention is how Zong Zheng Shao Yu (The 2nd prince I think) had a VoiceOver in the show, he is Thai irl so idk if he was speaking Thai which explains why the VoiceOver did not match what his mouth was saying, but like they could’ve done better in that, it’s not super distracting, just something you can notice. But yeah that’s all, really good show I recommend it, I want more of them and I want more BL with a traditional setting and a HAPPY ending, can’t leave that out.

PLEASE SOMEONE STOP JIN XIAO YOU FROM NOT LETTING THESE TWO LOVEBIRDS KISS UGH!!!

OK LISTEN LISTEN!

I was just going to comment under this show but I feel the need to review, because I just have to talk about how off the ratings in MDL are… or maybe I’m the odd one out. How is this show rated lower than Takara No Vidro? Like I literally watched this show after watching Takara and this one is way better in so many ways. Like Takara lacks so many things, it’s not horrible but compared to this one, Takara loses. Idk man, I just feel like this deserves better ratings, it wasn’t even bad. Like I enjoyed it way more than Takara, it’s not the best JBL ever but it’s really good compared to so many JBL’s we’ve gotten this year. It has chemistry, it has action, it’s not super toxic, a lot of the characters are super cute like Taichi, and overall it was pretty good. The storyline wasn’t the strongest but neither was Takara but at least Cosmetic Playlover made it work, while Takara literally gave us nothing. Not trying to be a hater, but it’s just sad/disappointing seeing actual good shows get worse ratings than mediocre shows or just trash shows.

Interesting...

((MAJOR SPOILERS))

First things first I want to applaud this show for being probably one of the few that actually has me hooked till the end in these past months I’ve watched BL, it wasn’t that hard to finish, I think the fact that it has 8 episodes which is a perfect amount plays a part too, because god… 12 episodes is so much and a lot of shows have that amount so they really stretch out the story to the point it gets boring midway. But this show had me hooked, I think the way they made each episode flow was very helpful too. They made sure to confuse the fuck out of everyone in each episode enough to make you wanna continue to the next so your questions can be answered, and trust me if you’ve watched till the last episode, all of your questions will be answered. So there really is no reason why people should be confused. But if you still are, I’m going to explain what this story was about in my words. If there’s anything I misinterpreted or missed then I’ll take the blame lol. But so far what I got was in the first couple of episodes it shows Great and his experiences, at first it shows him living that 4 minutes life, but in reality he’s really in the hospital having a near death experience, then between the middle it shows more info about other characters and then it shows the reality of Great, so basically what Great actually experienced, where he actually runs over the girl and all that. Towards the end it shows Tyme and his near death experience, and he was also experiencing the same thing as Great in the sense of the 4 minutes and such. Then at the end they recover and live happily. So what is there to unpack here? This whole show was based on 2 people who were experiencing a near death experience, and once you’re dying I guess you just relive what you’ve experienced, any guilt or regret you have will transform into the opposite in your brain, that’s why Great could see 4 minutes into the future and basically fix his mistakes, and that’s why Tyme had a whole different life with Great during his 4 minute experience, he had a good relationship with Great and they were dating. But in their actual reality, Tyme didn’t have the best relationship with Great and he treated him pretty badly, so when Great got shot, that guilt stayed with him. And Great regretted running over the girl, and also “helping” or not doing anything to stop Title from killing Dome and more interactions or decisions. So this whole near death experience was a way for the brain and body to cope with the regrets of life and they kind of created their own reality that’s why both Great and Tyme have a whole different view/perspective on how they met and the experiences they had together, but the reality isn’t even close to what they both created. Thankfully both survived and lived to what seems to be happy (YAY), everything seemed to be resolved. Sadly Dome, Korn, and Tonkla passed away. Honestly, they all deserved better. And the fact that Korn killed himself after Tonkla died makes this an even more depressing love story between them. And poor Dome, he was so innocent and kind based on what we saw. He didn’t do anything. And the cop Win, idk I did ship Tonkla and Korn but I first saw Fuaiz (Tonkla) and JJay (Win/Cop) in DFF (Dead Friend Forever) and they were a couple there so this is what I was kind of hoping would happen here too. But I guess in either shows do they have a happy ending T-T. Poor JJay. But yeah this is pretty much it, I also have to applaud those NC scenes, omg… it was giving KinnPorsche. But nothing beats KinnPorsche. Anyway, the only things I would switch about this show is probably making it a little less confusing for the viewers, I like the fun in looking forward to the next episode but they really had me confused for a couple episodes until the end where I was like “OHHHH”. And I guess include a little more romance in it, I know this is a specific genre and the romance is there, but just a tiny bit more would make this show a little more enjoyable. But overall pretty good. In my opinion, this show is good to watch once, I probably will never rewatch, but to give it a try, I will for sure recommend.

Idk How To Feel, But Listen

Ok so, I’m honestly very stuck on how to feel about this BL, don't get me wrong I loved it, I feel like a lot of us loved it until the end. But even with the ending I want to have an open mind on how it ended and try not to bring down this show because of it. I know some people on the reviews and comments have said how it’s not necessary to have such a sad ending and kill off the ML and I agree, but maybe because a lot of the BL I’ve watched have happy endings and I barely watch on purpose or come across a sad ending do I feel like having a sad ending once in a while is refreshing. It sucks and it's not what the majority of watchers like but it's more... realistic? Life is not always happy and life doesn't always have happy endings. So I feel like this story having this ending is in a way refreshing regardless of how depressing it was. Since we have no other ending it’s good to just accept it as it is and try to look at it in a different perspective and maybe that way we can enjoy the show more. I know I sound like a dumbass making this deeper than it is but I like to see things on a deeper level most of the times. And this show was honestly really good, the tension the main couple had and chemistry was unmatched, I haven't felt this way about a BL in a while, the way it made me feel was something I haven't felt in so long with BL since these days BL's are all pretty much the same. But this one was different. And it does hurt a lot that we didn't get that happy ending, and god Xi Gu deserved that happy ending. But I guess that's just how life is for some of us, unfair. And I like that realism. It's beautiful, it's real, it's unique. And yeah. As for the second couple, I hated it, it was so cringe and bad and the age gap................... normally I wouldn't mind age gaps but like you gotta have good chemistry for that to slide with me, these 2 were like so weird. I didn't feel anything with them and at times I felt disgusted. If I could choose, I would make the second couple go through what the main couple went through instead of them. Cause seriously every frame those 2 were in, made me wanna ball my eyes out. Horrible chemistry. IDEK why Zhi Gang even likes Bo Xiang, like? A lot wasn't established and a lot of details were missed. But whatever. Overall good show, wish it had a different ending but that's all we get so might as well make peace with it. I feel like this might be impossible, but I’m hoping for more BL shows In the future with Wayne Song and Huang Chun Chih as leads, and if it does happen, pls... happy ending.
