The best korean series of 2021 so far
I was excited for My Name when I heard it would be directed by the same person who directed Extracurricular and boy did it not disappoint me. I watched all 8 episodes in one sitting and by the end of it my emotions were so chaotic and all over the place and that's why i loved it.Likewise to Extracurricular, the characters in My name are morally ambiguous and its this ambiguity that allows for the plot to avoid the cliche route. If ever there was a point where I thought I had figured out something this drama somehow managed to destroy every assumption and make it even more interesting.
I absolutely loved Jiwoo, she was badass and intelligent without the need to be arrogant.
And can we please take a moment to appreciate the acting! Literally in Awe! especially Han so hee. Her whole scene in episode 6 made me feel like my own heart had been pulled out of my chest and i cried along with her.

An incredibly beautiful drama that everybody should watch at least once
First of all, I hardly right reviews so I think that in itself is a testament to how much love I hold for this drama.Would I fly to you may intially seem like a typical chinese youth idol drama, loaded with cliches but by the end of the first couple of episodes, you realise that this drama is something that is really special and unique.
Cattree as the director is incredibly skilled at illustrating the beautiful parts of youth; by his choice of the camera angles and shots, the wonderful OST, to the overall aesthetic, it is clear so much effort and precision was afforded to making this drama one that would be remembered by so many people.
I loved how consistent the storylines were, and coupled with the scenes of the digital cameras, viewers will feel a sense of nostalgia that brings a warmness to the heart.
Every character was fleshed out and had distinct personalities; They had their complexities and shortcomings yet they were so incredibly hearywarming that you cant help but love them all like you would love a dear friend.
ZaiZai and RangRang's chemistry was so beautiful to see and their story was developed so well; i truly felt like by the end of episode 24, i was saying bye to my children who has grown up.
I think what i loved most though, was the friendship; it felt so authentic and natural which i think i so hard to see in cdramas.
im so thankful for the existence of this drama. I truly feel like ive been healed and that my heart has been warmed.

It's been done before
i've never read the webtoon so didn't know what to expect, but this was just a bit of a let down. When I read the description I expected a fresh take on college life yet relatable. I got none of those. It was cliche, boring and the main leads acting as times, made me cringe.I also felt that the fl had literally no character. I get she's meant to be 'average' but she made it quite uninteresting for me to watch.
The only storyline I was kinda invested in was Soo hyun's and Young ran but even that left me disappointed.
Also i felt that Minjoo in this drama was so unnecessary, like the character added nothing to the plot.

Although I haven't watched all episodes, I can already tell that this drama will be one of my favourites for the year. I first heard about it when I found out Shen Yue would be starring in it-I didn't especially enjoy her role in 'meteor garden' but I thought that maybe she improved in this role and I was not disappointed. Her acting so far has been exceptional and authentic. The story is basically about two women who have been best friends since youth but have totally opposing personalities. Qi Yue is more logical, straight forward and prefers to have her future planned out whereas An sheng is free spirited, open minded and careless. I think, in ways, it is a coming of age story. There are quite a few complications that arise between time like falling for the same guy and jealousy but the portrayal of these complications are done so realistically and honestly, hats off to all the cast (especially Shen yue , Cui Bao Yue and Dylan Xiong). I can empathise with an Sheng so much and I adore her character. I also think that people shouldn't be so harsh on Qi Yue. Yes she can be quite stubborn and ignorant, but we really have to view thing from her perspective. I don't know what the future holds for this drama but the cinematography, acting, story and music is undeniably beautiful.
