This is my first drama review and it's like 3 am and I literally made this account to write a review for this drama lol. This drama takes you through the perspectives of many characters, and through that, it is able to address many issue in society which are prevalent through the modern world. I loved how they subtly yet effectively introduced problems regarding the environment, whilst including ways to prevent these issues, also managing to link them in with the plot. Mo Ge Li and Chu Shi really carried out their environmentally protective roles and were able to spread them around to the other characters which also helped with their character development, especially Ling Xi.
Now onto the characters and their respective pairings. I've recently watched Go Go Squid which had Yang Zi in it, and I did not know what to expect when I knew about her transition to becoming a CEO role. She definitely did not disappoint. Although Ling Xi's character may have seemed unbearable at the beginning, her character development definitely made up for it throughout the series thanks to her great bond with Mo Ge Li. This was the first time I've watched Ma Tian Yu in a drama, and I think he pulled of his character extremely well. At first he gave me Choi Dal Po from Pinocchio vibes because of his wig, but it just added to the innocence of his character. Both actors had great chemistry, and were my favourite pairing. I just couldn't get over how they were able to portray such sweet and slightly cringe moments so effortlessly. This pairing was definitely the one to keep me going throughout the series and both were vital for each other's progression!
For the other characters, I didn't know that I would be super invested every pairing! Tang Cheng and Lu Ziyue's relationship was definitely a show stealer. Complete opposites and were able to influence each other for the better. Their meeting was interesting, but made the relationship as strong as it was. For Zheng Li and Bai Yiling..I won't lie, but it was hard to get into their pairing. I have nothing against him being younger, but seriously? He's making moves while settling her divorce? I guess that was necessary though because he was always there for her anyway. I loved the way they got together because she was the one who initiated the conversation to return the feelings, and the scene was rather funny. Ling Yu and Chu Shi's pairing also stunned me, in a good way. They were also quite opposite, and Chu Shi managed to bring him out of his shell, and allowed him to focus on relaxing in life, whilst he was able to show her the cultural side of the country. Although they could have built up this pairing more, I still enjoyed all the moments that they had.
I think the plot was pretty good. Everything was well paced, especially for a 50 episode drama. I only occasionally watch dramas with more than 30 eps, and I'm glad I managed to stumble upon this one because I didn't regret it. I think that the fact that each pairing managed to have their own storylines going on helped with the pace as a drama, as sometimes when one pairing had issues, the other pairings were there to keep the drama more lighthearted. However, the ending (and I mean literal ending, like the last 20 mins) of the drama had more potential to be explored or was just not necessary at all.
Overall, I found the drama extremely enjoyable and it has now become my favourite. It may not have been the best regarding some aspects of the plot, but the character portrayal really hit me in my feels and I grew attached to each character and their pairings.
