Cringeworthy second couple stealing main couple screentime
LOVE: Yu Mei Ren and her character antics and fashion, Xin xin's acting, the main couple chemistryHATE: what else if not 2ML and 2FL! They're disconnected from the main couple and steal so much space!
Agree with others, it has become a romance of FOUR little forests. Felt cheated, they uses the main couple for publicity but in secret pushes out a lot of the secondary couple. What kind of shady situation is this? YMR sweet beauty and the main couple chemistry can't save this, even the main couple storyline was a bit too slow burn and going back and forth ffs. It took more than 30 episodes for them to hold hands....really. What a shame, if the writing was better their chemistry could've been more sizzling, still good job to Xin xin and Bin Bin for doing their part to make their chemistry work although the storyline was weak.

Authentic wuxia, Underrated drama is better than expectation and Xing Fei shines as Cheng Lingsu
I came in without expectation only to watch Xing Fei but pretty pleased at the authentic wuxia and like many others said the awesome fighting scenes. The script get quite messy sometimes though but the action scenes always become the saviour.While I'm not pleased the drama's fxxcked up ending I'm pleased at Xing Fei's acting and how her character is written. Cheng Lingsu is sooo loveable and it shows Xing Fei is not just an idol drama heroine. Her one sided love and sacrifice for ML is touching and moving. I'm also pleased at other her other costars acting Liang Jie, Lin Yushen, Qin Junjie, Maggie Huang, Ye Xiangming, little Xiao Mei all did a good job. I just don't like Peter Ho's OTT acting. Other than Cheng Lingsu I also like MRF character, he is the soul of jianghu in the drama and I think his ending was written badly. Lingsu's arch nemesis Shi Wanchen baldy was a bad guy but he was entertaining too, I wished there are more cool poison wars.

Xing Fei nailed Lu Anran
Entertaining drama but it got somewhat messy towards the end, but I get their intention with the open ending. I enjoyed the show more because of the actors and the novelty of the plot, the script could be better. Towards the end the script got messier and messier.However I'm happy that Xing Fei showed her acting prowess in this drama and she has good chemistry with both Zhai Zilu and Jing Chao. I think Jing Chao steal the show a bit from ML Zhai Zilu although MC is more likeable,but MZ is more tragic.

Everything about this drama is GREAT!
As of August 2022 this is the drama of the year for me, it's the first time I feel so engrossed watching a xianxia drama!The CGI is perfect and the art is beautiful, the story is smooth and enjoyable and it's fast paced, not draggy at all! Dylan is a very great actor if not one of the best actor of his age group love his demon lord so much aura and of course Esther is one of the rare actresses that can act cute very so naturally! The casting is perfect.
Really recommended, it's one of the best wuxia/xianxia coming from cdrama!

A promising storyline ruined by subpar casting
This drama has a promising storyline, a slice of time travel, comedy, romance, modern romcom, republican settings mixed together, it has the potential to be great, but they picked the wrong actors.Hu Yitian is ok, he's good looking, his acting is good but not outstanding enough. It was the female lead who need to be mentioned, I was giving her a chance here because the storyline looks cute, but she's mediocre as always. There is no chemistry between the two leads. The female lead character is too childish, and the execution is mediocre. Dropped.
