i stumbled upon this drama together with Put Your Head on My Shoulder when I was searching for C-Dramas to watch. I watched them interchangeably, as they were both ongoing when I started. I even blamed myself for watching an ongoing drama because it was a struggle waiting for the next episodes. Good thing this aired three times a week, with two episodes a day, on Youtube when I watched it. But whereas PYHOMS, I’ve totally lost interest at Episode 21 (Note: i only watched that far because I was waiting for LCDF’s next episodes) because I found it too shallow for me, with not much going on, LCDF on the other hand, was so captivating for me that it did not even make me skip any scenes, nary a one. Even the flashbacks, which were oftentimes annoying or confusing in most dramas, were aside from shedding light to story, they, more often than not, came with such sweet or funny scenes that would make you look forward to them even.
Although at some points of the drama I looked forward to the Guanchao-Wuyi pair more, but never enough to skip any Yan Mo and Qiao Yi scenes. Although there are tons of the smart guy-ditzy girl stories out there, I could say, there’s none more compatibly written than these two. They complemented each other like no other that every interaction was either so stinking sweet or hilariously funny. Yan Mo’s nonchalant demeanour was so well acted by Zhang Yu Jian it’s so funny every time. And Janice Wu.. I can’t remember any actress that plays the ditzy girl that does not come off as annoying, but Janice, just like in My Sunshine, she plays the dumb girl without being annoying, instead she makes it even cute and endearing.
This drama is such a breeze to watch, with neither annoying characters nor scenes. I can’t say it’s a fluffy drama because although half, if not more, of it happened while they were in school, it tackled other life stuff aside from the normal school happenings. But everything just meshed so well together that the story flowed almost seamlessly.
I liked the chemistry of Zhang Yu Jian and Janice Wu, Zhao Zhi Wei and Ma Li. You could see from the BTS how comfortable they were with each other. Every couple in the story was so cute, even the unlikely couple, Dauchan and Youmei. And Guanchao’s and Qiaoyi’s parents! They bicker so much but it’s never annoying or tiring.
All in all, this is one fine love story. A story that, after watching it, just makes you sigh and smile. Not one that, althugh surely you’d wanna keep watching them, but it does not give you the feeling that there should be more. Not an extra episode or a special. It’s just made complete as it is. A love that has come full circle.
