I was attached to this drama for two weeks. I watched raw releases and then the subbed version. Maggie, Viola, Jerry and Ron was a casting coup, in my opinion. All of them were beautiful/ handsome and they fleshed out perfectly the characters they were given. Even the secondary performers, particularly the PAs, were very good. Fashion was the other well developed character. It showcased just about every facet of the fashion industry: the designers, models, fashion houses, the intermediaries, the financiers and businessmen. You can say, this was an expanded Chinese adaptation of Devil Wears Prada. The intertwining love story plus the well woven quest of Fangsi to succeed to establish her fashion brand, despite all odds, was absorbing and well paced. In fact, I felt that a story change occurred almost every other episode. The 42 episodes flew very quickly by. It was the perfect ending. Everything was tied up neatly like a bow. Good job to the writers and the production staff.????
In terms of the characters- the cast melded well with their characters that their spots made it believable and cohesive to the entire storyline- making well use of the common wing man presence in chinese/taiwanese dramas, they were not tiresome but rather took care of the humor mosaic needed when the main actors have to do the heavy scenes, they provided the spots of relief since it is a long drama at 42 episodes.
As for the character I fell in love with- my eye is now on the look out for the guy who played hao ran, its the first time II'll be actively looking for a taiwanese actor's previous and future projects since for me, his portrayal had the most impact in terms of solidity- he was likeable without losing his coolness factor and I really felt that in a way, his character is the only one I wanted more out of. I never knew I would like such a wily character, a pleasant revelation!????
