gosh so i watched this after it kept popping up in my recommendations on here, and i was a bit dubious at first because the synopsis and the trailer make out that the story is about one boy's unrequited love for another and so i wasn't sure i would enjoy but that's not how the story goes.
for anyone who had the same worries as me the two boys are very much in a mutual, loving relationship which is exactly why this film hits as much as it does - the acting from all parties is brilliant, all the character's are real and human as are their relationships.

the story itself gets quite a low rating from me simply because i'm not too fond of the disapproving parent trope (i know it's realistic to a lot of people in society but that's partially why i don't enjoy seeing it redone over and over - i tend to lean more towards lgbtq+ stories where any issues that arise are completely seperate from their sexuality. however once the plot moves on past that it's a beautiful story about people coming together for their love of one person.

this leads me on to the end of the drama which broke my heart, it was so quietly sad but it's never explicity stated as to why (it's not a bad ending i wouldn't say, but it left me feeling empty afterwards when you consider what the character's have gone through to end up there.

overall it's a beautifully made film that i absolutely recommend watching but i would never be able to rewatch it again simply because it does its job so well by hitting so hard.
