If you love the first season, this is a must watch.
I learned about the second season of this wonderful series on Reddit. Unfortunately it was a warning not to waste time watching this because it's no where as good as the first one. Anyway that didn't prevent me from giving it a try. Even if the story is mediocre, it's still worth watching because of Hiroshi Abe alone.
Half way through the first episode, I knew I made a right choice! All the factors that made the first season such a masterpiece are maintained perfectly in this next one. Similar sense of humor, stellar acting from everyone in the cast. There are only so much stuff you can talk about life of a single person, so it might feel kinda repetitive if you binge watch both seasons in a short period of time. However they're designed to be aired 13 years apart so I guess it's fine.
The only thing that I really don't like is the main story arc feels a little bit rushed. The build up between main characters is still somewhat lacking so the ending feels kinda unnatural. If there are 1 or 2 more episode to focus deeper on the interaction between them it would be better. Anyway I always treat this series as a lighthearted comedy so I still love every minute watching it. Hiroshi Abe really nailed his role once again.
