Messy plot.

In my opinion the first few episodes were decent. But as the show progressed the story started getting messier. What I disliked the most is the background stories of each characters. The antagonists were made out to be worse than they actually were. On the other hand, the protagonists' characters and their background stories were glorified. Hence I couldn't empathize with the main leads' thoughts and emotions.

The second thing that bothered me was the story felt kind of unfinished with too many plot holes. Like how did everyone know that Shang Yizi is in fact Qi Huan, the son of prevous crown prince and when did everyone find out that Han Maisui is a woman? Why did Chang Yuqing suddenly fall in love with the fl? And most importantly why did the emperor who had tried several times to kill the ml, suddenly decides to abdicate the throne in favour of him instead of his own son? There are several other plot holes but I don't wish to go on.

The acting was good especially the fl. The fighting scenes and brotherhood of the soldiers were the things I loved. The ml's character wasn't memorable. Instead Tang Shaoyi's character was much more well written and better. I wish they gave him more screentime.

AMAZING DRAMA!
I have seen so many political and historical dramas but this has got to be my most favourite one. It was somewhat dark but showcases the harsh reality of royal families. Jealousy, backstabbing, scheming, revenge etc are conducted by the people in such a way that you cannot but feel angry and sorry at the same time for those people.

In my opinion it should be rated higher. The plot, acting, visual everything was absolutely top notch. Some people may dislike the drama because of the scheming and double sided characters. But in my opinion this is what makes the drama good. It doesn't make the audience believe that the lead characters are saints rather shows them as people who struggle to survive and use desperate methods for self survival. Not necessarily bad people but not also saint like and these are real characteristics of royals, power seeking, struggling people.

Another important factor is how the women are showcased. They are shown as evil, attention seeking people. At the beginning every single scheming woman makes you boil with rage. But eventually they have the same ending and the only reason is because they are born as women, they lack power and have no choice but to listen to their willful husbands throughout their lives. You cannot but feel sorry for them.

The character of Haolan is so inspirational. Even though she was born as a woman she refused to yield to her fate and refused to be controlled by other people. Exempted from family, sold as slave, being misunderstood by people as traitor, as a cheater,losing loved ones and ultimately was misunderstood by her own son. Even after encountering so many hardships she doesn't lose faith, nor does she lose herself.

I absolutely loved loved the drama. I highly recommend it to everyone.

Unexpectedly really good and sweet. In fact I was amazed at how much butterflies I felt watching the drama.

The best thing of this drama is the realistic viewpoints of love, friendship . Age gap, inexperienced couple, playboy phase, divorce and remarriage etc are some of the views of today's relationships which were individually portrayed by the lead characters. The natural attraction towards others and the character development of each character added so much more to the story. The story was on point and well written.

I especially loved that the secondary couples' story was rich and added a lot to the drama. Also the fact that there were no annoying second leads, misunderstandings, chichés, deserve a big thumbs up.

Big props to the amazing OST, aesthetics and visuals (I could literally go on writing about their looks. The boys are fine AF and the girls are damn pretty).

Overall if you're looking for something sweet, fluffy and realistic I highly suggest you to watch it.

I have watched many cross dressing korean, chinese dramas. They have decent plot. But this is by far the dumbest plot I have seen. Excuse me you can't live like a girl nor let others know you're a girl because if you are a girl you will die earlier? And what the hell only when you are 25 you can live like a girl and preach to the world but before that a big fat no? Dear writers what were you thinking?

I really loved the overall vibe of the drama. Very calm but not boring at all. It's the perfect healing drama for me. The plot was good, especially after every episode, the comments made by the main characters truly made it remarkable. I loved the pacing of the drama. Something I loved about this drama is how naturally the relationship progressed between the main leads. The way Shen Juan and Lin Yujing overcame their fear and came out of their respective shells makes it such a good drama. Especially the growth of Shen Juan and in this case the impact of Lin Yujing was amazing. One of the few dramas where the main leads have an amazing healthy relationship without any unnecessary misunderstanding. Also I must say the bonding of the friends was also great. Overall a memorable drama which I highly recommend to people who want to watch something about individual growth and healing.

It has become one of my most favourite dramas. Give it a try.
