Congrats to this movie for becoming the first terrible Korean movie I've ever come across. Also, congrats to it for being so bad, that I'm writing my first bad review. Ever. *applause*
I know I'm going to be met with a lot of haters, but eh...I felt I had to warn others that might be mislead by its popularity like I was. I shall try to point out the faults without giving anything away, although it may be difficult.
First things first. The premise itself seemed good enough from the get go, but I felt that it just went around in circles several times throughout the entire story. It was oh-so predictable in so many situations that I just had to laugh at myself for bearing with it all. I just cannot, for the life of me, comprehend this female lead's intentions when it comes her purpose in the story and her relationship with the male lead. I was delighted to read from the synopsis, that this would be about two intelligent people in the business world constantly (and maybe comically?) at each other's throats. But was utterly disappointed to see the female lead having absolutely no professionalism, no class and even coming off a bit (dare I say it?) slutty in some situations. I mean c'mon! Have some dignity, woman! I was so embarrassed to see her degrade herself in such a way, all to get a man. Yes, I know the title is "SEDUCING" Mr. Perfect, but the seducing could've been done in a much more clever and classier way than what was portrayed. All in all, it made her seem easy, weak and gullible. And that kinda thing just doesn't fly with me.
As for the acting, I didn't find the female to be anything special. Nothing she did really stood out to me and I just didn't connect to ANYTHING she was feeling throughout the entire movie. There is no question Daniel Henney is a stud, but that was about all he was good for when it comes to this movie. He was the eye candy you stare at to distract yourself from the mess that was unfolding around you. I really question his acting abilities as well. I mean, if all you're going to do is stand there and look stoic then you might as well be a tree. (HAHA JOKE! Don't kill me.) But in all seriousness, I WISH I had something encouraging to say about his acting skills but it just didn't happen in this movie. Their love just didn't seem as genuine as I would've liked and again, I felt no connection. Also, I did not find the constant transition from English to Korean (and vice versa) to be appealing nor did I find it to be appalling. So to put it simply that part of the movie was just..."meh".
The music was also nothing special and nothing worth mentioning. Would I watch this again? Haha no. No, no and no.
Overall there was just NOTHING about this movie that stood out and astounded me and really nothing that appealing, besides Daniel Henney and his hotness. This factor, along with the questionable acting skills of both actors, the weak/predictable storyline and the way in which the female lead was portrayed, was enough of a problem to persuade me to give this the rating of a "bad" movie.
I, of course understand that we all have different tastes and I respect everyone's opinion, whether you like this movie or not. But I just felt I had to throw my two cents in there as well. :)
