A must-watch crime and detective drama
This season is definitely better than the first one in my opinion. The first episode started off with a bang and it immediately got me hooked.Even though the story wasn't too focussed on the relationship between Eun Sol and Baek Beom anymore, I didn't really mind it. It felt smoothly developed in the first season and the second season kept it that way. It felt like they were colleagues, which is what they were supposed to be. I'm glad that they didn't add unnecessary love relationships in the main cast aside from some side characters because this show didn't need that. It stuck to the crime solving and it didn't lose it's focus. Even though the reason as to why some of the older cast left the team wasn't explained too well, the new cast seemed to be better to me because they were more serious and that fit better in this season.
The cases were more interesting than the ones in the first season and the twists were great thanks to that. I found a specific villain interesting and liked their part in the story a lot. Some might find it unfortunate that Eun Sol's role wasn't that big this season and that she didn't really seem like a main character anymore, but other characters got a time to shine and I appreciated that. I feel like everyone has gotten their fair share of screentime and stories explained this way.
Cons:
- Unlike the first season, Baek Beom started to irritate me at some point in this one. He doesn't want to jump to conclusions so that's why he doesn't say much before knowing the full story, but at least getting explanations in some parts would've been nice. All we got was "don't write fiction" whenever someone asked a legitimate question and someone else tried to explain it because Baek Beom kept everything to himself until the end of the cases. Even though it's part of his personality, it got more annoying than it was in the first season.
- Every case had the same pattern to solving it eventually and it got somewhat predictable.
- After the time the team worked with Baek Beom they still don't trust his ability on solving cases when he's helped solving all of them? Understandable that the team doesn't have a lot of time and that they want to solve the cases as fast as possible but they'll have to wait for him to be finished regardless so all of the screaming for him to hurry up inbetween was unnecessary.
Even with the negative points considered, this drama was a great watch and it kept me interested until the end. Hopefully it will get a third season in the future.
