Absolutely one of the best BL dramas I have ever watched

As soon as I finished it I immediately watched it again. It was so moving and real, and the acting so fine. The chemistry between the two actors was gripping.. The real life themes of authenticity and artifice and redemption coming through the love given by another person and his refusal to give up were masterfully portrayed. This series is a masterpiece. Both actors were great. Lee Seon lit up the screen. He was mesmerizing with his smile and buoyant presence.

Great acting but oh how tedious the actress who played Seong Deok Im is. She ruined the drama.

The acting was fantastic. Lee Jun-Ho was brilliant as the crown prince/king. Boy can he act! And the old king was excellent. But the lady that played Seong Deok Im, while a good actor, was such a downer. She was too too serious. Humorless and really quite unlikeable even though portrayed as noble. He character ruined the whole drama for me. She kept refusing the king and conveyed that she really didn’t like him at all. She was a downer and unpleasant and had a martyr complex. She was a shrew. I really don’t understand why it went on so long.

I had high expectations for Moon Sang Min. I loved him in Under the Queens Umbrella. But so far in this series he seems utterly charmless. He talks too fast. He seems expressionless. Does he need to be in a period piece to be a good actor? He is only 24. He seems totally shallow. He has no heart. Other handsome actors who were young, like Kim Soo Huyn had heart. This guy seems to have nine. Otherwise the series is quite entertaining. I imagine that it will turn out to be a good series. I hope Moon sáng mịn develops a little more charm and personality.
