I discovered the world of Asian drama via an interest in languages. Initially Japanese, then Korean, then Mandarin during the pandemic, and recently revisiting Japanese.. I'm only at a basic level in each language, but I enjoy them, including discovering the relationships between them.
My favorite dramas are Korean (My Mister, Mother, Age of Youth, Reply 1988, Crash Landing on You, Forest of Secrets, Sandglass), and my favorite Movies are Japanese (Our Little Sister, Kakekomi, Little Forest, 37 Seconds) and in general I prefer the slice-of-life genre.
I've done solo cycling tours in Japan and Korea, and had planned a tour of Taiwan in 2020. That's next on my list for when travel opens up again. I admire the liberal social values in Taiwan as an example of where things could go in the rest of Asia, if they could only see the benefits.
I stand for and try to live by basic human rights, including feminism (a relevant issue in most Asian dramas and indeed in most of the world) and freedom of speech.
If you make a friend request, I'll probably discard it, unless you message me and tell me why you'd like to connect. I'm into quality not quantity. I still haven't been able to find out the benefits or consequences of "friend requests", unless it's just about collecting a large number.
