This might’ve legitimately been for kids
This drama had every trope that I hated and only one thing that carried it: the silliness and awkwardness of the ML
But even that grew old quick because sir…you are 36
Horrible and controlling SML who treats the FL like a child without autonomy? ✅
Nosy SML who keeps butting his head into everyone’s business and acting like he’s owed access into their personal lives, thoughts etc?✅
Self righteous SML who thinks he knows everything✅
Clingy SML who believes that having a crush on a virtual stranger means owning them✅
ML who repeatedly pushes the FL away every time things go bad like she’s not a full person in their relationship but a pet he can choose to care for or discard on a whim ✅
Everybody acting like the FL is a newborn baby in need of protection (even from her own emotions) and not a 30 yr old goddamn woman✅
A 30 yr old woman and a 36 yr old man freaking out every time they so much as touch (the first few times is tolerable but yall are dating?? What did you think happens in relationships?)✅
Slapstick “comedy”✅
Saint FL who’s more like an idea of “perfection” than a person(I don’t feel like explaining this one rn but iykyk)✅
THAT trope (you know the one)✅
I was done with the story by ep.11ish but I didn’t hate it. It was very stupid most times and a lot of the jokes just weren’t funny and seemed like they were written for 12 yr olds but it was ok.
From ep.2-11ish, things were fun and flowed quickly (minus the sml) so it didn’t feel dragging or exhausting but after that, I kept fighting the urge to turn the tv off.
I liked the pairing. I liked that she stood up for herself every time he pulled that savior crap on her and it’s no surprise that I loved how obsessed he was with her.
The side characters were unsurprisingly not the worst. I usually hate this kind of setup cause I find it obnoxious and pandering but I didn’t mind them too much. They were over the top at times but I understood their place in the story and ji hwan’s life as well as his place in theirs. For them, he’s their savior. For him, they’re his lifeline-they give him purpose.
It was a fun and silly drama and if they would’ve kept that vibe and shortened the story a bit, it might’ve actually been perfect.
If you’re gonna have a story where everyone acts like Disney channel rejects, why do you think Tony Soprano would fit in?
Believe it or not, at one point (when the highs were really high), I contemplated giving this a 9 or 8.5.
But the lows were in hell so it’s a 7.5/10
