For a limited audience
I'm finally done with this show. The first 10-15 episodes were ok, but I've struggled with the rest. I've watched without FF, but boy was I tempted to skip some of the scenes. In the end, the only thing that I really liked was the music which was somehow fresh and a bit different. A young version of me would probably enjoy this drama more. It reminded me of Naruto that I used to watch in the past.Overall, I think it’s a wasted potential. The cast was ok, but everything else was lacking. I find this show to be very stiff. Fights were choreographed, but other scenes had little direction. The shots were rather static with limited camera movement. I wish they've played more with the camera, so that I could at least enjoy the shots.
The drama should be called the True Meaning of Training, or the Legends of the Dragon Mountain Empire, rather than Snow Eagle Lord. There were many unnecessary plots and side stories that were left unresolved, and many characters that we didn’t have the time to connect with. Maybe if the number of episodes were cut by half, the story would be more focused on the main leads and make more sense.
I’ve watched this show for Xu Kai, and he delivered a good performance, but this is one of his weakest dramas so far. You can watch it if you are really into martial arts and this type of genre, otherwise it’s better to skip it and watch something else.
7, only because I'm XK-biased, but it should be less.
