I am pleasantly surprised by how curious this opener made me. What I thought were plot holes were quickly explained a couple of scenes later and flashback segments are well-timed as well, providing only enough information so we can understand the characters’ story and motivation at the given moment. I initially came for Esther, but I can objectively say the plot will be interesting to anyone who likes mystery!
We already knew the consequences if our FL will fail, but now the details to that possible demise is revealed (it will not be pretty!). As for our ML who has been “idle” and has just been doing his own thing, a great responsibility is suddenly thrusted into his hands, and unfortunately, it will forever change his life forever in ways that are probably more bad than good. I’m a sucker for romance but so far romance has only been like 1% (lol) in this. However, the way everything is setup, I honestly love the story and characters enough to continue (Esther or no Esther, romance or no romance). I think it was a great decision to drop all 3 episodes at first because these first 3 really set up the world and characters perfectly. I really hope our girls’ relationship with each other just continue to get stronger and they will never be a time they have to turn on each other’s back! I wish this was more promoted ;( but alas, we get what we get. I’m happy this was aired at least!
Whatever is good from episode 1 (pacing, mystery, stakes) continued in episode 2. What I like even more is that even the secondary characters are intriguing. Special mention to the second assassin. I had to keep guessing what her motivations were and by the end of episode 2, I was pleasantly surprised at how she was positioned in the story in terms of either helping or harming our FL. It was around 12midnight when I finished but I just had to click next to see the next episode!
