First Impressions

The story uses music a lot to set the tone as 'mysterious.' The housekeeper is almost robotic..if a command is input, she must comply. Even when she gets hit, she has very little to no response.

The father of the kids, quite honestly, seems like a bit of a creep. It's clear that he was cheating on his wife, has no concept of what it means to parent, and just really needs to grow up (thus the plot...I imagine).

The Housekeeper's satchel, I predict, will be a source of 'magic' producing whatever it is that is needed in the moment, however unlikely. The kids were unable to open it when they tried, and its already produced some miracles.

The kids--the youngest girl is a doll, who takes to the housekeeper in her cold ways almost instantly. The youngest boy is precocious, but seems to have understandably lost direction because of the loss of his mom. The oldest boy seems like a troublemaker--angry & rebellious. The oldest girl was just overwhelmed in this episode by trying to take over for mom--it'll be interesting to see her character develop without these stresses, thanks to the housekeeper.

The first episode did a lot to set up the overall story, introduce characters, and got my interest. I really enjoyed it in all its strange glory.
