just disappointing

when I began monster next door it was instantly a favorite for me. The first four episodes were adorable, I loved how much of a green flag God is, and I found a lot of comfort in Diew because he actually reminds me a lot of myself. I was super excited because this plot seemed new and interesting, but after around episode 5 or 6 things just kind of went downhill. First of all, the acting from a lot of the cast is not good. God's friends all irritated me and did not really have any substance to them. The side couple was very confusing for me as they'd have these huge scenes and then we wouldn't see them again for two episodes. Also, there were a lot of conflicts that just were completely dropped. For example, God having drama with the main singer of the band, then it was suddenly switched and they became friends? There was no huge resolution or anything that I can remember, but maybe I missed it (also the fact he started dating Diew's best friend out of nowhere was pretty random and unnecessary). The other issue with this series is the amount of filler scenes there are in these episodes. I genuinely think that if these were condensed down in to 8 20-minute episodes most of the problems with this drama would be gone. There were multiple parts I wasn't even able to pay attention because I was so bored, but once the actual plot picked up every once in a while I enjoyed it a lot. I think that the hour long episodes were too much, but this is not a new thing for WeTV so I'm not very shocked. Also the OST was awful.
But, there were still good things about this series, which is why I gave it a 6:
-I LOVE Big and Park together. Their chemistry is amazing, they look great together visually, and I see tons of potential for them and their acting careers. They were honestly the reason I stayed for this show as long as I did.
-The storyline about Diew's ex was interesting. I liked how much background they gave, and I wish the series was more revolved around Diew overcoming his trauma and learning to communicate.
-God is a wonderful character and is well written, I love how much of a green flag he was and that this show does not romanticize toxicity like some BLs end up doing
-The first four episodes are just perfect and so funny, especially the mini storyline where they draw on the library desk, that was super cute.
Overall, I dont see myself watching this series again or finishing it. I hope that Bigpark have better opportunities in the future, though, and I will definitely support whatever they are in next.

Funny and Dramatic

I went in to Knock Knock Boys blind with low expectations because I knew absolutely nothing about it or anyone who was watching it. I was very pleasantly surprised!! From the very first episode I could not keep my eyes off of the screen, and couldn't get through one without laughing so hard I needed to rewind the scenes. The cast's acting is absolutely perfect, all of them are able to do the funny scenes without overdoing it while also having the ability to make the emotional scenes feel completely real. In particular I was impressed by Jaonine's portrayal of Latte. He is perfectly suited for Latte's character and I found myself holding my breath every time he was near Almond. I also really really loved the very accurate Pansexual representation in this show and I loved how Lookpeach and Latte provided other characters (specifically Almond) with valuable sex education. I also really enjoyed Jane's character and loved her friendship with Peak. Though I am not usually one for slow burns I really enjoyed this one and would 100% watch it again. If you want a funny, bingeable BL with characters who you will grow very fond of, definitley give Knock Knock Boys a try!

im hooked

I have been excited for this series for months- and after the first episode I can safely say it was absolutely worth every single second I waited.
First of all, the acting is phenomenal. I feel like recently we have seen an increase of mediocre acting in the world of Thai BL, and this is my first YinWar series, so I wasn't completely sure what to expect. I'll start with War who, after watching the first episode, I am completely obsessed with. He has this way of portraying Joker's odd and questionable personality in such a realistic way. He doesn't overdo it or make himself act overly creepy the way I feel that many actors would in this role. He is able to show Joker's charming side (when with jack) but also the more disturbing part of him given the fact he seems to be a compulsive liar. War's acting seems so natural, and I genuinely cannot think of an actor who would be more suited for this role than he is. Especially during the bank robbery, the way War was able to show how effortless these crimes are to Joker is just so well done. I seriously have nothing but good things to say about him. I feel pretty much the exact same way as Yin. This first episode was pretty much an introduction to show Jack's villain origin story (which I loved- and I already adore Jack as a character.) I'm not sure what it is about him, but something about Yin is so perfect for the role of Jack. He is able to show Jack's selfless and fierce personality- but also adds a cute and lovable factor to him. I love how Jack is a character who does not give up on his dream and does absolutely anything to ensure the safety of his grandmother. Once again, Yin's acting is natural and there wasn't one scene I felt like his acting was "cringe" (which is very easy to do with these kinds of characters) On top of all of this, their chemistry is so good and convincing and every scene they were together in was so exciting and had me holding my breath.
The story is also something new and refreshing. I haven't seen a BL with this concept/storyline before which really draws me in. The first episode did a great job of introducing the characters, their motives, and their background. I am VERY excited to see where this show goes, and I'll update my review after I finish watching!
