What I felt as I watched this drama.

There are two types of people in the dramaland 1. who likes a drama 2. one who doesn't. I certainly do not fall under any rather I am quite on the fence regarding this drama. I am unable to fully express my feelings on this drama in a couple of sentences but if I had to force some words out for it then it would be I neither am a fan nor a hater of this drama. When this drama started airing I quickly picked up on it, it was good for the first couple of weeks then suddenly with the sixth week of its running ie., with the eleventh episode I started to feel a little bit bored somehow the plot was lacking something, the writers were not able to weave things well. Something was definitely lacking, it is not the actors or acting it is more so the script and the way it is being written. There are too many side stories that the real focus that should be on Jang Gang (father of Jang Uk) and Jang Uk himself and the fact that Jang Uk was the result of his own father's wrong use of the "ice-stone" magic. I won't say that I absolutely hated watching episode 11 as it was not the case I liked it but not completely, it was good halfway but the rest I think I don't have to speak about. This drama certainly has some redeeming facts about it one being the bromance and some of the comedic scenes that can be considered sub-plots. At the moment I feel like I will be dropping this drama, which has never happened before except for a very few ones only though it was not the script but more like the genre. I am an avid drama/ movie watcher and this has never happened to me before. I am feeling regretful and sad in my heart considering the fact that there is going to be a second season, which before watching the first would not make much sense, I cannot speed run through the first then how would I be able to do that with the second. Maybe after the first season stops airing I will try to speed watch it but I am not so sure at the moment. If I do end up watching it I will make sure to update this review.

Worth watching

So I am here after I have finished watching this drama. It took me a long time to watch it after its release but every minute of this drama was worth the wait. I knew this drama was going to be amazing because of the cast. All the actors in this drama did a fabulous job in portraying the character they were portraying. Each actor did complete justice to the character. I knew very well how good this drama was going to be as soon as it was announced. I read some comments here where people criticised the drama but I don't see the reason behind it being called "lame", "not good of a plot" etc. If you enjoy a good comedy series which is not only a comedy but a mixture of various genres I bet that you are going to enjoy watching. Though the number of episodes was very few compared to a traditional 16-episode mini-series it still was not boring. I am going to re-watch it like I usually do a couple of months later.

Why you should or shouldn't watch this drama

Before I begin my review I would like to say that all that I write here is my own opinion and what I felt like when I watched this drama. I love watching dramas and especially reviewing them in my own way. Whatever I write is what I may have felt when I watched this drama. Please don't get offended in any way if your views don't match mine.

I have watched a fair share of drama mostly romance and also have explored other genres as it is good to expand your view range. This drama is totally different from any other drama I have watched so far, even though I have watched many. The lead actors Lee Sun Kyun, IU, Park Ho San, Song Sae Byuk and other supporting actors did a very good job at portraying their characters which makes this drama worth watching. You may wonder why I am writing this review after almost 4 years of its release that's actually I have skipped this drama when it was airing in 2018 because of its heavy topic. But oh! boy oh! boy, if you don't watch this drama you really are missing out.

You probably may have seen IU in Hotel Del Luna, Moon Lovers etc. which received a lot of love from her fans and others. In this drama, she has really played a very difficult character that looks easy on the surface but is definitely not. Her character is full of emotions like depression caused due to various reasons, which you will get to know if you watch this drama there are many other emotions and expressions that Lee Ji Ahn (character that IU is playing) portrays throughout this drama. She is selfish and self-centred a type of person usually people hate, but the way she is because of certain factors that the drama covers. Ji Ahn is unpredictable, in one scene you will feel like she is a good person in the very next scene you may hate her. She really showed commendable acting skills in this drama as Lee Ji Ahn.

Like I said in the beginning this drama is nothing like what you may have watched previously, this drama has a lot of heavy topics that it covers, the title doesn't reflect it that well though. though the title is quite three dimensional if you analyse it after you complete watching this drama. I personally am a binge-watcher but when it came to this drama I surely couldn't binge-watch this, I will definitely not recommend anyone to binge-watch this drama as you need time to analyse each and every single episode, there are very minute details that you need to follow to get along with how the plot will unveil itself. WARNING: You may feel depressed after watching this drama though.

The first few episodes are quite slow which can make one feel like giving up, but I can tell you one thing that is please don't give up the drama yet wait and see how beautifully the narrative arc is. You may think it is boring at first but the moment you reach the part of rising action you will not be able to leave it that is my guarantee to you as someone who has watched this drama. You need to carefully and minutely follow the story it is almost like a treasure hunt, this drama is more like a novel than a film I suppose in that case. This is a different yet well-written plot. Park Hae Young, the screenwriter did an amazing job. She was able to somehow thread the loose bits together very well. A quality of a great writer is someone who is not only a good storyteller but a good weaver as well.
(You need to figure out the rest by watching this drama)

Thank you for reading, I hope that you enjoy this drama.

Things that got me excited and atecipated

"Bad and Crazy", the title of this drama, can not be more perfect, even before the show begins the title is hinting the viewers at the plot and also the events that are going to follow, eventually unveiling the main plot and as to what one should be expecting to watch. The title is not ambiguous in any way it is the most straightforward title I personally have ever come across.

If you are choosing to watch this drama you should be well and ready for what is awaiting you. This drama is addictive in many ways and will keep you up all night thinking of the various possibilities that the plot may or can explore, I would suggest that its best to not watch this drama now when it is running, but once it ends premiering that way you will have at least some peace of mind.

This drama is made to be binge-watched, I am telling you if you don't binge-watch this drama it is definitely not worth it, waiting for a week to watch the next part is not the greatest feeling. I am not a fan of this genre, violence is not my cup of tea but this drama is fun to watch by that I mean like many other k-dramas this drama too is not only focused on one genre but is exploring other genres too.

Now, for why I am writing this review, this may or may not be a spoiler but from my assessment, the plot will be something like so Ryu Soo Yeol (played by Lee Dong Wook) is probably suffering from Dissociative identity disorder (DID), s a mental health condition. People with DID have two or more separate identities. These personalities control their behaviour at different times. Each identity has its own personal history, traits, likes and dislikes. His headaches, loss of memory, no clear evidence of the presence of another person even though he mentions having seen someone, and getting beaten up by that same person are what are given in the first two episodes. The end of the second episode gives us a clue. K (played by Wi Ha Joon) can be one of the other identities that he may have. His sense of guilt, self-righteousness, his survivalist attitude that he needs to have to survive in the rotten environment due to his educational background and other reasons (which may get unveiled to us in future) is what makes him create a second personality. There can be more identities too, who knows may we get shocked in future. But the plot of this drama is so exciting that analysing it is too fun to do as well. (DISCLAIMER, ALL THIS IS MY OWN DEDUCTION, MAY OR MAY NOT HAPPEN, WILL GET TO KNOW MORE AS THE DRAMA PROGRESSES).

We can expect a lot from this drama ie., for sure what a way to end this year.

Why you should watch this drama?

For the first time, I have watched a movie/ drama that has zombiesque, blood-sucking monsters who have been infected due to a virus (called the mad-people disease). This is a perfect drama for those who love fantasy and apocalyptic novels, dramas, books and movies. I won't go into the details of how and what the story is all about the summary available on the website is enough to give some idea as to how the story will unveil, there may be things and events that you cannot deduce from the summary which is why I would say even if you are someone who doesn't like watching genre of this sort.

I too personally am not a fan of horror but still, I wanted to give this drama a shot, mostly because I like Han Hyo Joo. At first, when the drama was airing I only watched a single episode and didn't think much before quitting it, it was a little too much for me especially the fact that it was a drama that had zombies in it. When I started watching this drama again just to kill time and also to try out a different genre than what I usually like I will say I got completely hooked on this drama, the plot, the characters and how well each actor played their role. I wasn't able to stop myself from thinking about the next and next episode I wasn't able to sleep peacefully until I completely watched this drama. Definitely, there are some gory details here but they are way less scary when compared to other zombie movies/ dramas that have been released so far.

You will get to know a little bit more about how humans are by nature after you watch this drama. I personally thought that this drama was a perfect representation of human beings. And I really hope that if you take up this drama and will like it as much as I myself have liked it.

Thank you for reading.
