i loved it
I watched this drama around a month ago, and didn't plan on putting a review, but it has been sitting in the back of my head for so long I just had to. Firstly, Small & Mighty had caught my eye because I really enjoy law + comedy genre, so I believed I would like it. Turns out, I actually absolutely LOVED this drama, maybe even more than I originally thought.
The story follows a top-star lawyer named Liu Liang, who is a very haughty and arrogant person. He somehow gets involved with rookie lawyer Xiaoyan, who is very righteous and always bent on seeking and serving justice to her clients. Naturally, the two clash upon first meeting, and it gets even worse when Liu Liang ends up getting kicked from his prestigious law firm and ends up joining (you guessed it!!) the same law firm Xiaoyan is working at. Along the way a child also gets involved with the pair, little Liangliang, who claims that Liu Liang is actually his father! Throughout the drama, the trio is constantly up to hijinks while Liang and Xiaoyan also team up professionally to take up cases.
This was my first Taiwanese drama, so I didn't really know what to expect. The cinematography of this particular drama was the first thing that caught my eye, it was very unique, and it definitely grew on me by the end of the show. The cast was great, I loved the main leads' chemistry, and little Liang Liang is so adorable!!! This drama has all the great genres for someone looking for a very lighthearted but warm drama with many great lessons; everything from slice of life, to law, to comedy, to found-family, to workplace to friendship. If you are a fan of law dramas, the law cases in this drama are episodic, every one to two episodes there is a new case, and the nature of the cases are kind of like the ones shown in Extraordinary Attorney Woo; cases with just the right amount of realism and wholesomeness. The comedy and character-dynamics of this drama remind me of May it Please the Court; the leads have really great chemistry while still maintaining the bickering couple energy. For those wondering, romance is very minimal in this drama, but the leads are pretty much soulmates, and I like to imagine they will be romantically-canon at one point in the future (i am actually delusional lmfao). I recommend this drama if you're in the mood for something funny, silly, but still filled with great lessons.
Also I just want to take a moment to talk about this dramas OSTs, because why are both the intro and outro song so GOOD?! Especially Always by J.Sheon like wow!!
If you are interested in starting this drama, I highly recommend it! However, fair warning, you may become extremely attached to this bunch once the drama is over. It's been a month, and I'm still suffering from withdrawal symptoms lol. I really hope they make a season 2 <3
