a slightly biased review

a little disappointed bc even though i also didn't love s2 i expected better from this one.
let me start by saying that I did enjoy this. it was entertaining and there were interesting plot twists. however i really liked s1 and got attached to the characters, and if you've seen this season you know only 3 of them remain by the end.
the characters that were introduced in s2 either died without contributing to the plot or just took a lot of screentime aimlessly (which led to an unfinished ending).
there were also no cute moments at all, which i feel like were what made me love s1 so much. it felt heavier, and the ending less rewarding than if it had happened, say, after a few cute sibling interactions. they tell you they're happy; they don't really show you. still, glad it was a happy ending.
and now we get to my bias: my favorite character (sang wook) died. i already expected him to be dead throughout the series, but then they say he isn't and give me hope, just to kill him off offscreen. i'm so biased towards him that if he had been alive i would have given this 4 stars. they also decided to personally attack me by putting a compilation of his scenes. pure trauma would not recommend

bring back sang-wook pls

most of the characters from s1 were either dead or gone for most of the season, and the incredible amount of new characters they added honestly gets fkn annoying after a while. the main character was not so main but was still in the posters so ok. and my man, my boy, my personal reliable traumatized emo gangster bestie was gone. i don't count any of his scenes bc none of them were actually him, so that was horrible and i hope s3 fixes this (but by the trailer i don't think they will).
i saw 4 whole asses in this season and 3 of them were covered in either alien snot or blood so that was... something.
not a fan of them starting to erase the monsters from the storyline? like i get the cgi is kinda shit and it's easier to just make them humans but the best part about sweet home were the different-looking monsters. it also had less of a horror feel and more of an action one.
overall, i won't lie, this was entertaining and i had a lot of fun watching it. it just didn't feel like sweet home and most of the time i was just extremely confused (and/or missing the og bad bitch sang-wook)

jan di, you got two options!
- the first is rich! (he's also a bully who made your life hell and caused a kid to want to commit suicide and has rage issues and awful hair and tried to forcefully kiss you knowing you hated him and will use his power over the other kids at school to make them try to kill you if you make even the slightest mistake and the only good thing about him is his sister)
- the second is also rich! (he's also stood by as his friends bullied kids brutally and thinks restraining his attraction for a taken girl is a redeeming quality that should be praised and has horrible emo hair and thinks playing the violin with melancholic expression is a personality trait and the only good thing about him is his chilhood crush)
yay! who will you choose?

ripping out my heart and leaving me to bleed out

this was really fun and really fucking depressing at the same time. it's not like i wanted to be alive anyway.
the leads had incredible chemistry and when i say incredible i mean INCREDIBLE. i fully believe that had they chosen anyone else, it wouldn't have worked as well; many of the scenes seemed to me like they were bts they included anyway, so it just looked really natural. also she was so cute and he was so hot and they made an incredible visual feast.
he was kind of a red flag at the beginning (he literally kidnaps her), but luckily for him i'm colorblind

cute

very cute, the cancer plotline made the quality decrease slightly imo but i understand that with 16 episodes something's gotta happen lmao
there were other things that i didn't love as well, mainly the mom. it takes her daughter having cancer for her to realize that she's treated her like crap yall who does the worst mother award go to
also missed oportunity to have a single parent storyline with the secondary couple but this is still a kdrama so what did i expect
the main couple were very very cute but she annoyed tf out of me on the latter half, it just felt like he was doing everything and she didn't care
but yeah the best character was the ml's mom, she was so cute and pretty and stylish and her husband and her were adorable and i just loved her sm
