Skipped the main plot for side characters

This show had a great premise but as the two leads began finding their way to each other, they made me dread watching the show. On the other hand, the webtoon artists Ji wan and John chef caught my eye, a couple that should have been set up from the beginning tbh. I found myself skipping all scenes unrelated to those two and essentially finished the drama happy because I ignored all the bad parts. Yes, the chef and webtoon artists' plot was a very small part of the show, but it was the best and most interesting.
This show overall felt rushed, cheap and low-quality. The production team also aired an entire episode un-edited, with boom mics, green screen, and harnesses all visible, which did not help the drama immersion in any way.
Would I recommend this show to anyway? No.
Would I consider John Jang and Ji wan one of the cutest couples ever? Yeah.

Best of this year!

I rarely rate drama's 10/10 but this was it!
No drawn-out plotlines, characters with clear motives, alliances, and personalities. Queen was truly one of the best characters I have seen on television, the perfect blend of loving and badass. She wasn't a pushover, nor was she a bulldozer in palace affairs. Queen was incredibly true to her character and protected her children with unconditional love- actually, she loved other people's children equally, especially with how well she treated the other princes, her daughters-in-law, and co-wives.
I loved how each son got his own plot line, but none overshadowed the main plot for too long. The plot was clear, protect her family, or who is left of it. and it was delivered.
As any saeguk goes, this one also did not disappoint in terms of costuming, set and visuals. The music aligned well with the story and added more emotion to every scene.
I was hooked from ep 1 till 16, never a dull moment (which is rare nowadays).
1000000/10 recommend for everyone.

P.S. I loved the Transgender plot line so much and it made my heart warm that it was a happy ending!

Disappointing and honestly boring

I've been waiting a year for this drama and it was so boring. The acting was not too bad but the screenplay, music, overall flow of the drama was boring. Nothing about this kept me wanting to keep watching, I was rather forcing myself to continue watching in hopes of it improving. We can only blame the writer in this, sadly. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
