we will meet again in 109 counting down

everything about this drama left me breathless and in awe. p’boss is a genius. simply put. and to find out that he himself identifies as part of the community makes the project feel so much more meaningful and genuine. i really just want to praise and thank him and everyone else on the team who worked tirelessly to help itsay become something so beautiful. i thought i knew what i was getting myself into emotionally when i first watched the trailer/teaser but god was i clueless. something among the many things that i appreciate/d about the series is that the “main” side characters (tarn & bas) were written in a way that i don’t think we’ve seen a lot .. both wonderful people i was rooting for throughout the episodes even when what i wanted the most was for teh and ohaew to be together i still loved them and cared for them and i hope that maybe in part two we’ll see them with a significant other who wholeheartedly loves them as well because they both deserve it so so much. and p’hoon ... he was there for teh when he felt like he had no one left to lean on and there were so many other scenes where you could tell how deeply he cares for his younger brother. p’hoon is hope. that there will always be at least one person who will understand you accept you support you or at the very least listen to your worries and give you a shoulder to cry on. was i worried that itsay would end up breaking my heart? yes absolutely and it did many many times but in the end what we got was love and a warm hug in front of the sunset and a promise to see each other again during the spring. and honestly what more could anyone have wished for. i know i will be there.

i have thoughts

two issues with this drama one very important to me the other .. well it is what it is but yeah let me elaborate 1 the age gap is not appropriate i know a lot of people don’t mind or don’t care bc “age is just a number” but see the thing is it rly isn’t and i wish power dynamics and predatory behavior were more discussed especially also when it comes to same sex relationships in dramas/tv/etc but i’m not writing this review to lay that all out lol i just really want to point it out and i have to bc it is what it’s in my heart ... the second issue obviously it’s too short i don’t think i have to explain that but what i do want to mention is that even though again it’s quite short it didn’t really feel that way watching it? idk how they managed to do that but props to them cause usually episodes would fly by .. somehow here they didn’t !! but onto the exclusively good stuff !!! everything about this was wonderful the story the acting the settings the production in general regarding the quality it reminded me of where your eyes linger which makes sense knowing the director (?) is the same and they exist in the same universe ... i love and appreciate the way they told the story and how it concluded so so much and both actors did a really good job (woohyeon please answer my calls) and i’m just so glad that even though i wish they had casted it differently (this is nothing against the actors Again i think they did a fantastic job it’s solely about the age gap) this exists! hopefully in the future we can maybe hit the twenty minutes or even thirty minutes *gasps* mark for each episode (they’re releasing a movie version of this one too so look forward to that as well!) in conclusion: #SavePilhyun

AAAAAGHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

When it first aired dailymotion was my second home every week I would wait for the person to upload a new episode (or multiple? I honestly don’t really remember) no subtitles no nothing and I would debate with myself about what was actually going on lmfao but it was fun we (me myself and I) had fun and I loved it then and I still love it now pls imagine the joy I felt when they put it on netflix I never even dared to think that would happen but look at us now I’ve lost count of the amount of times I rewatched this drama and I have 0 regrets it’s one of my favorite cdramas of all time LUO ZHI ??!!!!! THATS MY GIRL (by fifth harmony) I love her so much and I don’t trust anyone who doesn’t.
the drama does absolutely have its faults though like whatever they tried to do with bai li (love her sm) and that old guy ??????? they’re not seeing heaven for that just to be very very clear but yeah you can call me blinded by the main plot bc I absolutely am and was and always will be I just love it too much to really care about the stuff on the side that does obviously bother me otherwise i wouldn’t mention it here but that’s what skipping scenes is for right! Anyway I will never get tired of going back to Unrequited Love it’s a classic in my book.

There’s so much to unpack. and i’m bad at writing reviews.

I obviously had high expectations having watched and loved the first season a year back i anticipated this one for months and months and then it finally came and aired and at first I honestly didn’t really know what to think about the set up of the story or actually the first two episodes I was really just in awe and taken aback by it and I was curious to see where they would take it because it seemed like it was going to go one way but then it went a completely different one and I got confused and I was confused for a while lol like both of the new main characters I wholeheartedly didn’t care about and i’m still not sure if I did in the end but then it didn’t matter because and this is really the essence of this review the last 3-4 episodes really did it for me they’re the reason I’m giving Stranger 2 10 stars because that’s when it all changed and I fell back in love with the entire concept of the series which is also why I want to rewatch it as soon as I can afford Netflix again (it’s hard out here) because now with that knowledge of where it’s going to go I do feel that I’ll be able to appreciate everything in between the beginning and end so so much more so yes is it as good as the first season actually I don’t know right now but I do think it’s good and that again having finished it I can see what the writers and producers were trying to do all that time I was sitting there confused lmfao and ofc the cast is a huge highlight of the entire project and I love my duo to death their scenes are hands down my favorite part of this drama and always have been I love them I love them I love them and most of all I love Simok so so much he has to be one of my favorite characters of all time and I think this season we really got to see him in a different light as well which I’m so grateful for so yeah to wrap this up: fantastic season and I’m sorry for the lack of punctuation

i’m just talking

i think i have to preface this with the fact that i was and still am very much attached to the original from two years ago & when i found out about this at first i felt .. extremely indifferent towards it especially bc of the extended length of the drama but nevertheless i still ended up watching it .... and finishing it today! & i have some thoughts!
starting with the negative and ending it with the positive
one change they made that i strongly disliked is that they turned the girl who in the original was mostly just in the background and kept her crush on huainan a secret into a literal menace .. in the 2019 drama her story even though seemingly insignificant added a nice layer towards the end which i really appreciated but in the remake .. to be frank i wanted to strangle her and i’m honestly glad they completely discarded her at some point bc again ... menace to society but also with that said in general i think they did a lot of the female side characters extremely dirty ... aside from the fact that yes some people are just .. bad people and have no desire to redeem themselves some of it just wasn’t necessary at all especially when it comes to riqing i wish they hadn’t made her embarrass herself over and over again during the first half bc it would’ve been sm easier for me to like her which i really wanted to and actually do now that i’ve finished the drama but thinking back on how she used to be .. it’s just sad that she also had to be the one to make a complete fool of herself bc of huainan .. and speaking of huainan it will forever be a mystery to me how he managed to wrap all of these people around his finger like .. he’s kind of smart well read and good looking ..... ok ..... and .....??????? makes no sense but thats the universe the drama is set in and also kind of the world we live in i guess *shudders* .. one more thing: the treatment of mingrui by huainan especially towards the end really got on my nerves .. again i don’t get why he would do so much for someone who hasn’t rly given him anything in return you’d think mingrui is also in love with huainan (pls watch waiting for you in the future) but i digress ... on that note: MINGRUI
mingrui is ... and i rly don’t believe this can be argued .. The best character and one of if not my favorite part of the drama bc as much as i love luozhi and baili .. mingrui rly has my heart and i wish he had gotten a better more fulfilling ending to his story and growth like the other three (luozhi, baili & huainan) did actually this entire review could’ve just been one sentence “mingrui deserved better” but where’s the fun in that! anyway i think he’s perfect and i love love Love that they didn’t make him fall for luozhi like he did in the original .. i was so sure they would go the same route but they didn’t and for that i’m so grateful bc i genuinely appreciate his and luozhi’s friendship so so much and i really didn’t want it to end .. also speaking of friendships luozhi’s friendship with baili and with mingrui are probably my favorite parts about the drama next to just mingrui’s existence i really really love how through everything luozhi and baili kept supporting each other and never stopped caring for each other i love those two together so much and i’m so glad that they used the added time to explore their relationship and show instances of them being close and being there for each other which is also why in the end i really can’t say my concerns about the additional episodes were confirmed ... i enjoyed most of it ..... like the predatory old guy turning out to be mohan’s uncle who she used to get revenge on baili ????!!!!! talk about a plot twist (i’m so glad they didn’t end up together thank you jesus) and just in general like i already mentioned i really appreciated them exploring luozhi’s relationships with baili and mingrui and not just huainan!
so lastly i have to speak on my girl .. the one and only !! luozhi ... tbh i see a lot of people who give her shit for the way she handles things throughout the drama and i just .. don’t agree i think her character is so refreshing and intriguing she’s smart witty caring NOT a pushover knows what she wants aware of the world around her ... frankly i have no reason to dislike her and neither should you. case closed.
as for my final conclusion .. despite its faults and errors i think it was a good drama and remake and i’m glad i watched it bc it introduced me to similar yet different versions of my favorite characters so if you’re someone who’s seen the original and isn’t sure about watching the 2021 version i’d say definitely give it a chance bc i think you might appreciate the new and different aspects to it and if you’re completely new to the luozhiverse hii and welcome the original is on netflix pls do check it out and once you’re done wait a few weeks maybe even months and give this one a try as well!
