A life-long viewer of Kdramas via exposure due to Korean parents, but a new fan thanks to a shift in female characters and storytelling in recent years.
Drama Preferences:
- I prefer non-romance dramas over romcoms and melos, but I'm finding some of the newer romance dramas might not be that bad.
- For non-romance: I like all types of stories as long as it's well told.
- I would rather no female characters than a poorly written one who adds little to the story, or worse, hinders it.
- But I like women too much that I probably won't watch a show with no good female chars - I only have a finite amount of time for dramas.
- For romance: I like strong FLs and sweet MLs
- Not all FLs have to be fierce badasses, but I need them to be more proactive in their stories.
- A soft lady who knows how to stand up for herself when it's necessary and is shown to have more to her than romance>>>>> a sassy, "strong" woman who always has a guy save her in her lowest moments.
- Not all MLs have to be sweethearts, but I hate domineering macho assholes.
- It's a different story if a "bad boy" meets his match with a "bad girl" who can overwhelm him though ;P <--this is a rare, and pretty new trend though
- But if he crosses the line, he's still out.
- Wrist-grab + dragging isn't attractive, Korea.
- I don't like love-triangles.
