bittersweet slow burn
This has instantly become one of my favorite jmovies. Once I was able to completely grasp the time traveling concept, it became super bittersweet but it was still beautiful. The concept is so creative and well thought out, I think something about it not being a perfect happy ever after is what makes it so perfect. My heart broke after the midway point when Emi revealed to Takotoshi the truth about the future them and how the times are reversed for eachother. honestly a slow burn. Some tears were shed but I honestly knew what I was signing up for, except I didn't know how well thought out and well-executed the plotline was.Nothing surprising from Nana's top tier acting :) Fukushi Sota was also super suited for the role so the casting was 10/10 for me. (he kind of resembled Kai from exo in the beginning lol) OST was really good as well. Overall, really recommend this movie if you're down to watch something incredibly cinematic and beautiful but sad at midnight haha.

strange but calm
The movie didn't leave a huge impact on me nor is it very memorable. I don't recall the small details even right after watching nor do I feel like there was ever a climactic moment of the journey (if there is one). The events that take place within the plot are incredibly subtle, even up till the last few moments. There doesn't seem to be an end resolve either, it just IS. This review probably doesn't make sense however, the film itself has it's own color and it's own vibe that is consistent throughout. I think that's one of it's strengths that kept me watching. Although it's incredibly slow and anticlimactic, there's something about the calmness that draws me in.Was this review helpful to you?
remarkable school thriller
I was pretty hooked after the first few episodes so I ended up binging the entire series in one sitting. This series gave a similar resemblance to Class of Lies where it's about solving the murder of a classmate and rewinding on the backstories of each character. The plot was really intriguing I'd say up until the second to last episode. The scriptwriters did a goodjob of keeping it suspenseful and mysterious however, as I've read some of the other comments. the ending felt way too rushed and cliche in comparison to the level it was at in the beginning. The main characters became almost supplemental at the very end, and the ending wasn't satisfactory because it was way too open-ended.
However, there are a lot of great qualities to the series, the supporting characters all did a really good job, everything seemed convincing and I couldn't really predict what was going to happen next. It kept me on the edge for the most part. The soundtrack went really well with the mood, I appreciated the main theme song. Impressive acting from both leads, Solomon Park is so cute lol.
I'd recommend this series if you're into school thriller and mystery.

calming and realistic
Recently been into the calmer and day-to-day life genre and this drama was exactly that. The plot doesn't have a lot going on, the frame of time takes place within the span of a few months. Overall the drama felt therapeutic for me, it was comforting although I did shed a few tears along the way in some episodes.Plot is mainly about how the ML (who became deaf) reconnects with people of his past and there's a lot of complicated factors and barriers that each character needs to overcome. I liked all the characters, there's no one really to dislike, however, I don't think that Minato's reason in breaking up with Aoba was reasonable ._. they were honestly a pretty good pair already but anyways~ I'd recommend this series. Acting 10/10 and soundtrack 10/10 as well :)

slow paced childhood friend turned to lovers
A pretty wholesome and light series that shows the "best friend" compatibilities of the two main leads. Their relationship is honestly goals and they're always so wholesome towards eachother but they're love is quite literally unrequited all the time. The drama can be pretty frustrating for those who don't like waiting for the relationship developments. They're so obviously suited for one another but there are so many obstacles and the timing is always off. It's a good patience tester lol.I personally enjoy the slower-paced dramas and don't mind the flow. As I found the other side characters and second leads pretty unnecessary and annoying, I really enjoyed the scenes where the main leads are just enjoying eachother's presence and catching up with eachother. The way they cheer for one another is super wholesome *^* I do like the male lead more than the female lead because she's not exactly the smartest character and she's always one step behind (and always chasing her ex smh)
The casting is really on point. Love both actors <3 the soundtrack was also pretty catchy by the end
I'd recommend this drama to anyone who likes the childhood friends turned lovers genre and calmness of middle aged romance

w o w
Such a captivating film, the music, the cinematography, the acting...everything just came together so well and told a story unlike any other. The unique tone of voice Wong Kar-wai embodies never fails to surprise me. I came from watching Fallen Angels and I think that Happy Together has exceeded Fallen Angels. We witness the relationship of the couple and we see how one of them becomes so dependent on the other, all while doing nothing in return. The relationship takes a toxic turn from the beginning and we see how the characters cope with their feelings.
The introduction of a third character into the film was such a brilliant idea and honestly such a breath of fresh air. I really saw no hope and no future for the two mc if they continued staying together, they clearly needed eachother and emotionally relied on the other, but they also clearly clashed and couldn't find happiness in the long term.
The cast was so amazing. Love love love the acting of Tony Leung and Leslie Cheung. I felt empathetic for Tony's character since he was such a great person and easy to soften inside. However, I loved Chang Chen's character the most. He was such a simple guy with a simple mind and good heart. :') the ending was bittersweet but I can't imagine a better one.

a little nostalgic
I have a habit of watching coming of age/nostalgic youth films before going to bed and this was recommended to me since I've watched many other similar films. First off, the plotline is pretty typical, the main girl is uptight and studious while the main guy is rebellious and carefree. The chemistry between the two characters is like innocent, wholesome first love/friendship. It's not really pure romance, but it's definitely more than just friends. Their relationship is pretty subtle and this concept continues all the way even until the very end of the film. The acting was pretty good, it's not super memorable just because the storyline isn't super emotional or deep. The storyline is also your classic, FL and ML turn from frenemies to people who realize last minute how much they've impacted eachothers' lives, only to realize it's too late. The open-endedness of the relationship between the two in the ending is kinda unfulfilling because everyone else got a very clear and straight forward ending while the two aren't seen together at all. Because of the lowkey cliche plotline that was easy to predict and the unsatisfying ending, I'll give this drama a 7.5/10 stars. However, I encourage those who are considering watching this film to give it a try :)Was this review helpful to you?
Must Watch
Not sure where to start since there are so many impressive elements to address for this drama series. Having known Bai Lu was an extremely talented actress already, I came in with high expectations. I wasn't prepared for the amazing cinematography, acting, and storyline the series had to offer. The characters were portrayed so well by the actors, so big big big props to them. I haven't seen a drama that enticed me as much in a while so Arsenal Military Academy really was a breath of fresh air. The set depicted China in the early 1900s extremely well I was pleasantly surprised by the architecture and fashion style. Ngl, I shed a few tears in some scenes but honestly, the audience had it coming...In conclusion, super great and one of a kind film. I've fallen for all of the cast especially Xu Kai and Bai Lu <3Was this review helpful to you?
speechless?
honestly I should've read the description and how it's tagged a mature movie LOL because i watched this drama bc their soundtrack 那些年 is a big hit and has been in my playlist for a while so i decided to watch the movie that it belonged to. I honestly thought this was your basic coming to youth video-wholesome and emotional rollercoaster but dang this was some incredibly dirty and funny content that gave me good laughs. This is certainly not your girl's perspective drama im pretty sure guys can relate more to this one (or at least from a boy's perspective) i remember guy friend laughing his butt off at this movie a few years back and i didn't think it'd suit me so i forgot about it but now that i've watched it, it's certainly funny and nostalgic at the same time. highly recommend! Was this review helpful to you?
your typical nostalgic youth drama
These days I've been reminiscing my high school years so I've been trying to watch dramas focused on youth and just light movies that won't be too heavily sentimental. This one definitely met my expectations though the storyline felt too quick. (what was i expecting this is a movie haha) but i did enjoy watching this remake --i have not watched the original adaptation so this was new for me. The actors are fairly new actors and i think they did a great job depicting their emotions--im impressed by the guy and the girl was cute. I recommend trying out this movieWas this review helpful to you?
