Refreshing and unusual.
I decided to post my IMDb review on mdl with some adjustments so here it is. I feel like I must show my appreciation for more people to see.
An intriguing, funny and refreshing story, I got easily invested in the plot and in our leads, extremely funny at times (I enjoy korean humor very much), so weird in the good sense, I couldn't guess what would happen next so I had a great time watching the whole thing and didn't want it to end so I keep delaying it.
Yeobeen and Nana did an amazing job in this drama especially Yeobeen in the last set of episodes, Nana played the cool and refreshing Bora so well, she's so charming and lovable, and if you look at her character closely she will break your heart with the way she loves and is dedicated to Jihyo safety and well being. Their relationship is the heart of the show, honestly. Wish we got more answers regarding the aliens in the finale but I'm still satisfied.
More than anything I was invested in Jihyo's journey as a person who repressed her real self for years while trying to conform to where she lives then she is faced with the disappearance of her boyfriend in unusual circumstances which reminds her of her past and all insecurities she's been carrying since an incident on her childhood, and with all that she meets Bora again, the person who always believed her. Jihyo's transformation through the drama is really good, she's the lead character but I would call her the hero of the show. Seeing the start of our leads relationship was endearing, I must say the flashbacks were really effective and got me even more invested in their relationship, a lot of dramas, especially romance ones constantly make their leads meet as children but I often find it outdated and forced, but with Glitch is all so natural and it connects perfectly with the present time in the sense it helps you understand both Jihyo, Bora and their relationship better.
The alien and cult plot was able to keep me hooked in the show, till the last minutes of the drama, I didn't know what to believe, it was extremely fun story to follow even though I wish we got more answers, but I'm happy with it, Jihyo and Bora are characters tha are going to stay with me for a while, I truly love them.
The cinematography is really beautiful and cool, the lighting, the music fits the aesthetic of the show perfectly and you will see me asking them to release the tracks because I want to listen to it and remember of the show, and can I say I loved the filter used in the flashback scenes? It's really my taste.
I've watched it on the release week and I still very much into it right now on the last days of December 2022. I think rewatch value is irrelevant to the quality of any media but I gave it a 10 because I caught myself on Netflix rewatching my favorite scenes and plan to make a full rewatch next month lol. I feel like it was a show made for me, thank you the cast and crew for your work, Jin Hansae and Roh Deok I want to see you two working together again, Yeobeen and Nana too, it's a given.
Waiting for even more unusual dramas like this one and Inspector Koo.
