A Very Fun Watch
I found out that this was one of those, "girl turns into a boy" type series right before I started watching. While I was going into this with zero expectations, I was indeed impressed by just how much I enjoyed this series, as well as how much I can say that the plot itself didn't bother me one bit.
Let's Dive In.
Now, I find my opinion on this plot to be a bit split in half. One part of me thinks this was a way to put an imaginary safe net just in case the homophobes found it a problem that two guys were falling in love. I just imagined them shouting out of a window to an imaginary mob saying, "Wait, guys, it's fine, he's actually a girl!" I don't actually believe that their intent was to have a fallback just in case things went south, but, I can see where other people are coming from if that's how they felt. The other part of me sort of looked past it to just really sit back and enjoy the series.
I loved Love. The girl and the boy. I honestly just had a blast watching Love navigate her way into being a boy and discovering her new body and how to "act like a man". It was funny and one of the best aspects of the series.
This BL was new in many different ways. The concept of there being a game that had a magical unicorn at the end was hilarious. We hadn't seen much of that in other series, as well as the academy part. It felt very up notch and secretive. I loved the competition parts of this the most. The VR scenes were the best, and I had a ball while watching.
Tangmo was an incredible character. I immediately pined for him and Love as soon as they met. They went through a lot of trials and tribulations, but in the end, they were able to come together.
Overall, I really recommend this series. I don't know if I would really categorize it as BL, but in any way, it was a fun watch and nice competitiveness that keeps you on your toes.
