Like:
+ Some scenes are really funny

+ Yanase is such a kind and caring character. His face expressions are top tier and especially in episode 7 I had a lot of fun watching him. Kudos for this inner monologue. It was hilarious.

+ The creditscene was really wholesome. Pay attention! I don't want to spoiler anything, but I was really kinda impressed by it when I realized the little details.

+ At first I was a little annoyed that they include a pair of fujoshis, because I thought it will go in a terrible direction, but actually it was really well done and we get a little important information out of their conversation!

Dislike:
- The beginning (mostly like everything till episode 7 lol) was really hard to watch for me. Some scenes were so awkward and uncomfortable.

- The whole show felt so slow-paced because so little is happening. The flashbacks were way too much, which made it unnecessary repetitive and boring.

- The whole story is..like..just boring. What's the red string here? That Yuki likes him? But doesn't do anything? Geez..

- felt no chemistry at all.. Yanase is carrying the whole show for me, because I like him, but I can't bring myself to like Yuki, although there were a few scenes I didn't cringe that hard about him.

- Imho Yuki is a character who really frustrates me. I don't like overinsecure characters at all. His crush on Yanase was just so awkward for me. Like wtf does he call him god.. x.x

- the ending was so unnecessary dragged. Like.. I already felt like there is no progress at all and than they come up with this. Geez.

I remember a scene with shaky camera and weird angle, but overall I liked the production.

I was often so annoyed, frustrated and awkward with the plot or the characters. For real, Yanase saved it in the last 2 episodes. :'D

I wouldn't recommend the show, but I also wouldn't say "Don't watch it!". It wasn't terrible. If it would be horrible, I would have just dropped it. But there was definitely something that kept me watching. But I also feel like the show gave me nothing but a headache. I think I wouldn't miss something, if I didn't even started the show. ^^'

I can agree that 10 minutes make a huge difference

First of all I want to thank MusicalVeggies for their review on MDL. It was this review which made me watch the show AND the movie, because the changes in the movie do indeed change the feeling I have about this story.

I had a lot of struggles with the show so it was nice to know what changed in the movie. But I don't like rewatches and thanks to the review I mentioned earlier I could just go to the parts that are different. And indeed, they changed my feelings!

I could understand Akira a bit better. And the ending is so much more satisfying and beautiful than in the show! I still struggle with understanding Yuki, because it never got explained why he's hesitating in the beginning with kisses and skinshipping etc. But I guess I just have to accept it as it is. ^^'

I would recommend to just watch the movie instead of the show. :)

This was really something different from what I normally watch, but I enjoyed it a lot!

The production is great and the acting is really really good! Time just flies by while you get sucked into an interesting and exciting story. The chemistry between the leads is phenomenal. The balance between romance and gangster business is really good. :D

Here and there the story could have been a bit more fleshed out, but for the time they had, it was still a good show. Everything was understandable, even if it would be something you could feel more, if there would be more explanation. It's a bit rushed in some scenes.

Overall I didn't expect to like this as much as I do, since I'm actually more into RomComs, but I'm always open for an interesting plot and I didn't got disappointed here.

Like:
+ The story is pretty interesting. I like the plot of childhood friends meeting after a long time period and come closer again. And it's definitely different from the shows I watched before about this topic.
+ The start was really good. I liked the pace in which the story was told.
+ We get enough information to stay interested, but not too much to get bored after revealing everything all at once. It was a pretty exciting show.
+ It's pretty serious. Talks about serious topics and I think it would be important to put a content warning in it, but I guess we are not that progressive that shows have such things like books. ^^'
+ The production is nice. The different color shadings in different kind of scenes were nice to watch.
+ I really like the soundtrack!
+ They choosed child actors who actually fit to the adult version of them!
+ The actors were all good. Imho not absolutely great, but they did an okay job. I was a bit awkward in emotional scenes, but the more intimate scenes were great! Didn't make me uncomfortable at all and weren't overdone. It was sensitive and nice to watch without having to cringe about.

Room for improvement:
- I didn't really feel the chemistry between the actors. The actors were a bit stiff sometimes.. even tough I remember that I liked the actor of Ren more. He was a bit more charming I guess.
- The ending.. I think, after like episode 5 or 6, it was just too dragged with a lot of flashbacks. They should have told more about the story (I still have some open questions..) instead of dragging it for like forever with flashbacks and useless repetitions.
- After a good start it was a bit disappointing that they lost it towards the end. The pace was annoying and the open questions bother me.
- The ending was too rushed.

Overall I liked this drama. It was interesting, exciting, sensual and didn't make me uncomfortable with the scenes with a lot of naked skin. I am a really open person, but shows sometimes tend to make it weird and awkward with intimate scenes. But this one was well done. Although the actors were sometimes too stiff, these scenes were absolutely great (by both actors!)
I even wished for more intimate scenes with some progress in their relationship to show how they come closer and more comfortable with each other.

Normally I am more into fluffy RomComs (at least this is what I watched since I started with asian shows) but I really really liked this show. I didn't expect it, tbh, because I watched a lot of dramas in the last days, which weren't that good. So "Tokyo in April is..." was a great, refreshing surprise, even if it's definitely more serious and not fluffy at all.

Liked:
+ Comedy: especially in the beginning it's really funny. I like this kind of humour and it reminds me of "Oh, my Assistant". There were several scenes where I had to laugh! I love Jae Woo and how random he is. :D
+ Some Soundeffects in the beginning were quite funny
+ The acting is okay, but nothing outstanding for me.

Disliked/Room for improvement:
- These dramas always have the same issue. They are strong in the beginning and then just get quite boring and messy. The romance is meh. I even felt sorry for the third dude in the love triangle!
- The chemistry was underwhelming. :/
- The point where Cheol Soo started to behave different was so tiny, that at some point I was just confused why he suddenly likes Seol Woo and didn't understand why his feelings had changed

Like always with these kind of dramas: the start was good, the idea was good but the writing was poor. T_T I watched so many dramas in the last days and every show has this problem! I can't stand it anymore. :'D it was a bit boring towards the end and they wasted so much time on Ye Min. He would have been better off as a character like Jae Woo. Jae Woo was my favorite thing in this show. u.u

What I like:
+ The acting: It's not phenomenal, but especially Choo Young Woo did a great job imho. The emotional scenes were great. Won Hyung Hoon is a bit stiff sometimes, but (!) I think that's also part of the character he plays. So overall it was totally fine.
+ the music: nice to hear. Doesn't get annoying. Lyrics are beautiful and matching to the story.
+ the humour: not a lot of scenes to laugh, but here and there the little nagging is amusing.
+ short intro.
+ Some dramas repeat a lot of the previous episode in the beginning of the next episode. Here they just repeat a small bit of the scene, that's nice.

What I don't like/Room for improvement:
- the plot has a lot of room to improve. I feel like a lot of KDrama with 8 episodes around 10-15 minutes just lack good writing. The ideas are always great, but the writing is so bad. It doesn't explain the whole story and I am always left with some open questions. It wouldn't take much to just explain this few things! u.u
- the kisses were not that bad. Not totally deadfish. But could be better. Still enjoyable.

I wouldn't rewatch the show, but it's fine for watching it one time. I wasn't bored at all, although I wasn't fully invested in the story either. But if you are through almost every really good KDrama and don't have anything else top tier to watch, it's totally okay go watch this. :D

ShupShupShup

This was so cozy

I didn't expect to like it that lot!

The acting was great! Even with small gestures they transport so many emotions and messages, I am really impressed. They were able to express so much and for me it was totally understandable how they felt and what they thought, even without big words or gestures. I was able to understand each one and why they made the decisions they made. ^^'

Ritsu is just wholesome. He's so cute and looks absolutely like a mischievous fairy. Both lead actors were perfect for their roles! I also liked that there weren't many sidecharacters. The show focuses mainly on Ritsu and Fumiya. That's good! And also Fumiyas actor does a great job! He nailed to express the inner conflict, Fumiya felt, so perfectly.

I also really liked the OST! It was so fitting and the whole atmosphere were kinda cozy. Also there clothes were really nice, haha. I don't comment often on the outfits, but they looked really good and I love Ritsus hair! Because it's set in winter and it's always cold, the atmosphere is just magical and, like I said, cozy, when they wear their pretty oversized pullovers.

It's just so calm, but full of emotions! The locations were great and really helped to transport the whole feeling.

The chemistry got me every time. The tension between them really made my heart flutter.

I also liked the flashbacks' placement. It totally makes sense and gives a lot to the story to understand both sides better (and also understand that Ritsu wasn't the bad guy here! Just watch carefully and you get the little hints here and there).

The little details in this shows are really cute (pay attention to the picture in the ending sequence of every episode :) )

It's a show that shows (lmao) how important healthy communication is. How important it is, to take care of each other and appreciate each other.

Totally recommend this. Probably gonna rewatch it, or at least some scenes of it. They are way too cute with each other and it's just a wholesome show.

That was really not my cup of tea..

I liked the acting. That was great. I also liked the music. And the funny moments! And...that's it.

Unfortunately I can't join the squad which is head over heels for this drama. I didn't like it.. I know that there are also shows about Kido and Kijimas previous relationship (Mood Indigo) and a Sequel for this show, but I can't bring myself to watch these too.. even though I thought Kido was interesting. His voice is definitely a thing! x.x

But..I don't like forcing sexual acts on others and this whole lying, manipulation, not caring about Kuzumis feelings...nah. Just nah.

I liked Kuzumi, but he's naive and..stupid as hell.

I think this drama shouldn't be called a Boy Love, because there is no love at all. ^^'

2/10 for the funny moments, the great acting and "Twilight Dreams".

I am a huge fan of Kikuchi Fuma, so I was reaaaally excited for this drama. And it didn't disappoint!

+ Kikuchi Fuma is an absolute snack, lmao. I love his acting, his voice (Oh boy, how he whispered some words really took my breath away x) ), his glances and I talked multiple times to my tablet, when Maki-chan was melting because of him, because "Same sis, same!"
+ Usually I don't pay too much attention to the female lead. I don't know, but somehow they are often written in a way that annoys me on the long-term. BUT Maki-chan is absolutely great. She is funny and there were a lot of moments where I could totally relate to her. She's truly adorable. Her parents too, by the way. They only had one scene together, but Maki-Chan was worrying about her parents asking for her relationshipstatus, since she lived alone for so long. She totally panicked inside...while her parents and her brother (+ his wife and child) just devour her food, compliment her and ask her if she wants to buy an appartement (which worried her brother, because she would live alone in a certain area and it seemed like he was worrying about her being uncomfortable around there, so it was not in a negative way against her). :'D Supportive parents are, unfortunately, kind of rare in dramas, so I was suuuuper happy to see how chill and supportive they are. It's a short scene, which isn't really important to the plot or give something away, so I don't really consider this a spoiler.
+ Excuse me, but how relateable is Sakura-chan?! She's a huge drama fan and that shows clearly. I felt like her conversations with Maki-chan could be something I would say, too. :'D Every drama-fan should be able to relate to her. She is a supportive friend and I liked her a lot. I definitely appreciate support characters like her. She gave great advices, comforted Maki-chan when needed and was just badass cool and entertaining. :D
+ Shinohara-san was surprisingly likeable. He is a nice guy from her workplace (I forgot which position he has in particular. Chief Manager, or so? :'D) His daughter is annoying as f*ck, but she's 10, so I just let it slide. :'D But Shinohara-san was refreshing and I always enjoyed his conversations with Maki-chan. There is one scene in the last episode that totally cracked me up. He's the type of guy that is unintentionally funny and I can't get enough if this. :D
+ Overall the humour is totally my thing and I enjoyed this show a lot.

There is nothing that I have to criticize in particular. I would have wished for clearer motives in the beginning, because one character was really hard to grasp, but the story wouldn't work that way, so the things need to be like they were done, otherwise the angsty-plot would just vanish. x)

I wasn't bored at all. I binged it (while getting some sleep in between), I laughed a lot, I had totally wild fangirl moments, because Kikuchi Fuma just ate (no pun intended, LOL - but for real, he ate this role, geez) and overall it was a lot of fun to watch him again. AND I really liked the lead actress - I am usually more interested in the guys in a show, lmao, so it was a nice surprise to get that much hooked by Kurashina Kana. And her clothes were always SO SO PRETTY. I feel like the actors were really perfect for their roles.

The angsty episodes were not soo funny anymore and the humour was also toned down (which is normal in this situations, haha) but I also didn't get emotionally that hooked. Plus, although I really liked the intro song ("Cream" by Sexy Zone, of course) the ending song wasn't that much too my liking. But the ending scenes were interesting and sometimes really adorable! And the little change in the last episode was cute - I always feel intelligent when I spot little changes and think I got the intention of those changes. :D

8/10 Would totally recommend the show, especially if you like Kikuchi Fuma.

Dont forget to watch the post credit scene :>

I watched the movie right after finishing the drama, so my review is a little biased and not solely for the movie, but also in comparison to the drama. Ive rated the drama with 7 and the movie 0.5 stars more, because the movie does a lot of things right, which frustrated me in the drama. But..its also a very skimmed version of the story. So if youre looking for a fleshed out story and characters, that add something to the story, i would recommend to watch the drama, because it has a lot of loveable support characters. But its also way more frustrating than the movie. Nonetheless, i dont know if i would have rated the movie so high, if i didnt watch the drama before it, because the story feels very rushed here. Its quite shallow, but still cute and i dont regret watching the movie.

The female actress is way better in the movie. I love her acting and how confident she is. She's absolutely cool and i like her a lot! When it comes to the male lead, i liked both actors. And thank god Nagasawa wasnt such a pain in the ass in the movie. It was actually cool that she told Tsugumi to which things she has to be attentive to, instead of belittling her and just telling her she wont be able to handle Ayukawas disability.

For me, the movie was a nice watch, because i dont have the dragged drama and the whole frustrating experience from the show, but i understand if people find it too shallow, fast paced or messy, without watching the drama first. I always prefer a fast paced romance over draggy, frustrating dramas, but i also cant deny that the drama has a lot of likeable support characters, who made the drama a lot of fun. The movie is kinda a best of of all the most important moments. x)

A beautiful, yet frustrating drama

I was quite hesistant to continue this drama, because at some point, it really gets frustrating. Like, really really frustrating. But at the end, i am glad that i didnt give up.

This drama is not really romantically. I love a good drama with lots of love and romance, but the focus here is more on other things. Of course their relationship is the topic, but its not like we get a lot of cute moments between them. Its more about the obstacles and how they overcome them. Thats also the point why the drama was so frustrating. They get problems from everywhere around them. Her parents, her sister, her childhood friend, his caregiver. Like uff, gimme a break. But that also led to the most beautiful character development ive seen in a long time - her dad is really great at the end. Seeing him together with the others at Ayukawas basketball match was so heartwarming!

The characters are...tricky. I feel like i liked everyone more than the leads. At least more than the FL. She is so annoying and frustrating and with every episode ive got more tired of her facial expressions, because her acting is really not that nice. Its not unbearable bad, but damn, she isnt that good in showing emotions. The ML was more likeable and i definitely did understand him better. And his acting was quite nice. She needs to grow a backbone asap. x) But what's really saving the show are the support characters! There are a bunch of likeable people and oh my god, i was so happy to see them. And no, her sister is definitely not part of this group. I dont approve her ending up with Haruto, because this precious man deserves so much better! He was, along with Mr. Nabe, Sawada and Ayukawa's mom my light at the end of a long, dark and frustrating tunnel aka drama, lmao. Even Miki got so likeable and nice through the show! They were all so much fun to watch, supportive, funny and loveable!

The Ost is also really great and i listened to it often.

All in all, i would recommend this drama, if you can bare with a ton of frustration. It gets dragged from episode 5 to 9, lol. I dont like it much when conflicts get dragged so long, but they spending time together, although the broke up, saved the scenario. So keep this in mind, if youre not sure. It was annoying as hell, but still bearable to watch.

7 out of 10 stars for the OST and the precious support characters, lmao.

This drama makes a bunch of stuff right and only minor things wrong. It is a great mix for people like me, who like stuff that is; funny, serious, a bit emotional, inspiring, fluffy, light and entertaining, with great, likeable, interesting, lovely and supportive characters. On top of this, it also serves: a sizzling chemistry, a ML that melts heart 24/7 and a fun OST.

In detail:

+ I started this show very spontaneously, although it was on my PTW for quite a while. It hooked me immediately. Usually I prefer dramas with shorter episodes, because my concentration is really poor and I often check, how much of an episode is left. I didn't do this here. Not for a single episode. I was so immersed in the drama and it was so much fun to watch, that I was surprised at the end of every episode, when it was already over. I wasn't bored at all.
+ At first I was a bit intimidated by the long castlist, but you get very fast and easily used to all important characters, so it is even more fun to follow their stories.
+ The changing hospital patients keep the show interesting!
+ The OST is really nice! I like the vibe of the song. I had to constantly remind myself that this drama is from 2020 though, because it definitely gave me older vibes - not complaining about it.
+ Not. a. single. annoying. character. I usually roll my eyes when I read stuff like this, but I didn't anyone annoying. Actually, everyone had reasons for their behaviour that probably anyone can understand somehow. The characters are likeable, lovely and veeeery supportive most of the time, which made the drama easy to watch, since I was interested in everyones story.
+ The show serves a pleasent combo of funny and serious moment. I cried my eyes out in Episode 2. T_T and also in other episodes I got a little bit teary.
+ Low angst. I almost hate angst, because nowadays it is always created by unnessecary stupid drama. But this show is long on angst and doesn't serve stupid drama!
+ Eyecandy on every corner. For real. Every episode we get another serving of a hot male popping up out of nowhere. I was very pleased. :') Therefore: Tendo is outrageous attractive. His facial expressions, body language and way of speaking melted my brain several times.
+ The nicknames for the leads are funny and Sakura made me snort several times, when she wore the hero outfit.
+ There are so many cute things hidden in little details. (Did anyone else noticed the rice cooker in episode 8? I was never this sad to see a freaking rice cooker. x))
+ The acting was quite nice. I am a bit hard to please, when it comes to leads, because I like a bit of a complex power dynamic, but I don't like it much, if it comes off as one-sided love, because one lead is just an ass and treats the other part like shit. Or when one of them is just head over heels and stupid asf, at best combined with low self-esteem and we have a character I hate with all my heart. T_T :D Characters like Sakura are often annoying and too dumb, to be likeable for me. But Sakura is very balanced. They don't drag her clumsiness too far, which I really appreciate. :D Tendo had enough subtle moments, that showed, that he cares for her, so he didn't come off as too cold/harsh/desinterested. And I really really liked the fact that he always accepted her the way she is and didn't demand her to change. That was absolutely wholesome!
+ Some people might dislike it, but I am a sucker for "All males like the female lead". I can't get enough of a little jealousy and it was greatly delivered here.

+- While I liked the pacing in general, the pacing for the second and third couple was a bit too slow. Especially with the third one doesn't happen much, but that's not really something I would criticize too much. It's not really disturbing or annoying.
+- And while I know that Tendos character is build on being a Tsundere, I would have wished for a liiiittle more affection and sweet moments between them.
- I also got very annoyed by the constant interruptions all the time. This is something that gets frustrating in the long run.
- We have a good count of kisses, but unfortunately I didn't find them very appealing. Somehow a bit lackluster on the females side. I know she is the type of character for kisses like this, but at least one passionate kiss would have been nice.
- Minor continuity editing mistakes and some weird slomo, which was sometimes a bit awkward.

So all in all, its nothing new, but it uses known tropes in the right way and creates a show that kept me hook through all the 10 episodes, which is very very rare. I LOVE the low angst aspect and that there is no annoying character, who ruins the show. I felt so at ease watching this show and I would definitely recommend it!

While student-teacher relationships are really my least problem, I found it very weird that Toki didn't recognize Sahara from the past.. ? The story failed to feel smooth for me. It was okay to watch one episode each week, but when I imagine to binge this show..I don't know. I would probably have been pretty bored soon. Everything seemed so choppy. As if they just filmed several scenes and tucked them together. ? Like yeah, obviously they did this, but for the viewers it shouldn't felt like it. Although I liked the characters and the acting (I miss Rise already ?) But I have to agree when people say they didn't feel much chemistry. The show isn't really romantic. They have not much tension and the feelings for each other don't seem to be a problem at all. Guess this is more a script problem than an acting problem. I would say the actors did the best with what they've got.

Toki-Kun's personality was quite exciting. He is an interesting character who clearly shows that he is still a teenager, but at the same time also shows nuances of a very mature character. I really liked the communication between the two. Another thing I liked: show was low angst. That's always a plus point if such corrosive tropes are avoided, a la miscommunication for example. I'm still a bit unsure how to rate the show, just because it seemed so choppy. I just miss the feeling of “This is a well-rounded, complete, well-thought-out story,” you know? somehow the show was very superficial. as if it had touched on a lot of little things but not really concluded anything. I would also have liked to see more of the stepbrothers, in order to do without the endless flashbacks. ? There were really a LOT of flashbacks in the last episodes and this was tiring. I also feel like support characters in JBLs are truly not more than support characters. ? Would've love to see more of them!

All in all, it was okay. Nothing that I care much for, to be honest. The OST is catchy, so I will enjoy listen to it, but it's a story you'll forget fast.
