An antique camera was auctioned off in New York, at the price of 100 million yen. The buyer is none other than Mineoka Shuichi, a young CEO of a promising company, who happens to be a member of the House of Representatives and the darling of the mass media. Mihara Kiichi, who is the Assistant Police Investigator at the MPD (Metropolitan Police Department) starts to suspect that Mineoka is related to a murder that happened in Sagamikomachi, Kanagawa. Reason being, the victim was a reporter for a major newspaper, and he had been sniffing around Mineoka, trying to dig up his dark secrets. Yet, Mineoke was seen at the funeral of the victim, which was strange as their relationship was antagonistic at best. Prior to his death, the victim was seen with a woman at a hotel near Lake Sagami, and they were seen strolling around town together. Although the victim's body was found, the woman has not been seen since. Although Mihara has his suspicions, unfortunate for him, Mineoka has a rock solid alibi. He was actually miles away in the town of Kitakyushu, offering prayers at the Mekari Shrine and the photos of the event were plastered all over the newspapers. Unless there was some sort of camera trick, there is no way the murder could be pinned on Mineoka. Mihara decides to visit Fukuoka, and consult the veteran detective there, Torikai Jutaro. Then, another body of a young man was discovered, and the two murders seem to be related somehow. Edit Translation
