i did not expect to enjoy this as much as i did
when i think of all the negatives about this show in terms of plot and storyline, it *should* be enough to bring my rating of it down but i think i just really liked how low-commitment it was. the plot is not as heavy as other shows because so many things happen, its like theres a new plot every 3 episodes.the relationship between the main leads was kinda repetitive; it wasn't really progressing and i kept expecting something to happen but it was really just cheesy flirting and teasing (which i'm ok w, but i also wanted to see development) there are other things i want to say about them but i think the top review already touched base with everything else loll
my favourite part of this drama was the balance between emotion and lightheartedness. there is a great blend of comedy and drama that i haven't seen in any other drama so far. i think onew and song joongki delivered extremely well; their acting is unmatched.
ESPECIALLY onew during the earthquake arc. his scenes got me right in the heart. he acted out the raw and pain so well, a complete paradox to his usual bubbly and cheerful character. i also want to point out kim minseok's character, kim kibeom. he's one of my favourite characters and it was so fun to see a delinquent become an army man and be almost a younger brother to his superiors.
the main positive for me about this drama is the acting for me honestly. i think all the main actors did their job exceptionally well. episode 15 had me bawling my eyes out LOLZ!!! it did feel a bit long (16 episodes) but i enjoyed it and i didn't feel like i wasted my time yay!

Best rom-com drama ever, for me ❤️✨
When I'm asked, what's the most perfect drama you've watched, I answer Descendants of the sun. What does this drama not have? Action, romance, friendship, comedy, thriller, slice of life, emotion, music etc everything!! The chemistry between the main leads and also the chemistry of other couples are too breathtaking. Song Song are my most favorite couple, though they're no longer together. Still the fact that once they were together makes me happy. And the songs!! DOTS has the best album, change my mind <3 The fact that this drama shows us a slice of doctor and soldier's hard work, gas my respect. This is the only drama I never mind rewatching. Idk why many people find this slow.. Nevertheless, DOTS is the besttttttttt <<<<<<<3Was this review helpful to you?
Story highlights the best emotions which compliments with the acting of the actors.
Second lead is equally praise worthy as the first lead.
Has nice combination of bickering ,romance emotion, jealousy( for short time) and friendship.
Male leads and female leads are equally brave and daring to withold the peer pressure.
The music alone is enough to keep the viewers captivated but the story is also equally good.
Drama highlights the the efforts of the story writer, the director , the actors and the scene setters.
Though the drama production costs alot and is among the most expensive dramas with the most expensive actors in it but all this is worthwhile.
The drama even blossomed love in between the lead actors who ended up getting married despite the age gap of 3 years between them.Female lead is 3 years elder than the male lead.
The actors are good looking and have the cutest romance between them.

This drama for me is like falling in love with a guy you would never expect. It was a drama that wasn't on my radar but I decided to try it-out of the blue-simply because I adore Goblin (Kim Eun Sook writes some witty, amazing dramas!) When I watched it, it got me hooked unexpectedly. Granted it isn't the most perfect drama out there and the ending seemed rushed, but I fell for it nonetheless, making it one of my favorite dramas now.. It's surprising to me that despite Song Hye Kyo being the senior and more experienced actress, Song Joong Ki overshadowed her (I found her acting a bit lacking I guess?). Joong Ki was amazing here, possessing traits that make a truly ideal man. I especially loved that the characters' moral principles, patriotism, duty to country and humanity, and courage formed the very core themes of this drama and that the romantic relationship between the Special Forces Captain a.k.a Big Boss Shi Jin and Dr.Kang Mo Yeon revolved around these ideals. Furthermore, both leads are strong, dedicated and successful in their chosen fields. Isn't it amazing that the writers purposely chose the military and the medical professions to create a rather unique kind of conflict in a relationship? This made the drama gold for me. Not many dramas are like DoTS. No second lead pining after one of the OTP, no birth secrets, no manipulative in laws, no parental opposition, etc. which is refreshing. Not to mention, the cinematography is breathtaking and the production is stunning. I also love the OST. "Always", "Every Time" and "Talk Love" are constantly being replayed on my laptop.

Firstly I don't think I can ever stop rewatching this very sweet drama almost everything seems so perfect the Main leads Song joong ki l love the way he approached love his not a persistent type knows when to strike and that cute baby face of his always turns me on.
The second couple lieutenant Yoon at first that feeling she has towards Seo wasn't love to that's obsession she stepped herself so low, she got no self esteem.
That's for mine from me own point of view .
So if you're thinking weather to give this movie a try please do so and I bet you ,you won't regret it.

Warning! I love love love this drama so my review is going to be long! First of all, I can't believe I kept passing over this drama! I think I was reacting to the plot summaries I saw on Viki which led me to believe this was a drama about war. Yes, there are obviously soldiers and doctors in extreme situations in this drama, and yes I loved the action and suspense as these everyday heroes tackle hard situations. It is clear the director respects these professions and wants to show the challenge and perseverance it takes to tackle this hard work . I can't tell you how many people kept telling me to watch this and I just put it off for a rainy day. I am so glad I finally listened and just turned it on one night when I had nothing else to watch. Next thing I know I am binge watching it for 2 days and into the early morning. I actually was so sad when it ended that I immediately started googling everything about it. I became obsessed with everything about this drama. Apparently, this was a massive hit in Korea and I had no idea... I certainly was also surprised when I found out the 2 leads actually fell in love and got married after filming this. Even though they are divorced now their chemistry was off the charts in this drama.
I can't even began to explain how much I love Song Joong Ki after watching DOTS. He is just brilliant in this! His humor and natural ease in the character make you mesmerized every time you see him on the screen. He is boyishly charming, amazingly handsome and steals every scene he is in. He and Song Hye Kyo play off each other beautifully. He teases her and she is always reactive to him which makes for some of the funniest scenes I have every seen. SPOILER! (mine fields, cars wrecks and cliff confessions) They are so seamless with their dialogue and their timing with each other was perfection. They will have you laughing till you cry or holding your heart in every scene.
This drama has one of the best supporting casts I have seen in any drama. The characters are all well developed which is rare for a 16 episode drama. You will fall in love with the medic crew and become invested in their stories as much as the leads. The secondary leads Jim Goo and Kim Ji Won are a beautiful story line and completely different than the lead couples which makes a nice change of pace during the episodes. They are absolutely gorgeous together and stay true as a couple the entire time. Even in typical K drama fashion when one always is giving up something for the other...They always are thinking only of each other...sigh...
If the amazing acting, great script and wonderful characters (aside from the horrible European actors -which is why 9.5- why can't they hire better western actors in K dramas?) haven't grabbed your attention just wait for the breathtaking cinematography. The amazing locations and direction make this drama stand out from every other drama I have seen ,even Goblin(yes I went there)which I loved as well. I felt I was watching a Hollywood production rather then a 16 episode K drama. The story is great and the ending is just perfect! Oh, and the soundtrack is one of the best I have ever enjoyed...I can't hear "You are my Everything" by Gummy without thinking of this show. The OST is amazing and I would listen to any of these songs again..As I am writing this review I am re-watching it for the 5th time...and for sure not my last...just sayin...

It is a classic for a reason!
This was amongst the first K-dramas I saw. I found it a good mix of romance and action with a bit of humour.Although it did have some clichés and stereotypical plots and characters, I did enjoy the series.
This is the role I’ve seen SJK in that I liked him the most in.
Considering this is such a classic, I should probably write a more detailed review, but instead I will say it like this:
It definitely helped me get hooked on K-dramas.
Watching it today some effects and characters will probably seem a bit outdated.

Cast - I loved the cast! They were so cute, The characters were cute too, though the female lead could be annoying at times.
Music - The music was awesome! One of my favorite parts of the drama, but they soon became repetitive, from being overplayed.
Re-watch Value - I don't know, it was very draggy at some points, entertaining at others. I generally don't re-watch though so that's why the value was low.
Overall - I would give it a 7.5 out of 10, for it being draggy, and annoying at times. The reason I gave it a higher score than it deserves is because of the cat and music.

"We love a good parallel"
Let me start off by saying, I watched it long after the release and so many of the thoughts regarding this show were unknown to me. Before reading the other reviews, I thought it was a great love story between two opposites that find meaning in their work and stand firm in their beliefs. Then I read the reviews and my mind still hasn't changed.I will admit it isn't the greatest piece of art mankind has ever created and the hype was a bit much, but it definitely deserved to blow up the way it did.
Enlisting in the army is a big deal in Korea so it is a wonder why such a unique storyline was not made earlier. Second, we love a good parallel. The dynamic of the characters were great and really went beyond the romance to showcase the meaning of fighting for your country and the weight of a life. Many of us dream of becoming doctors and as we casually recite the oath, I don't think the weight of those words can be comprehended without the experience the character went through. Aside from the romance, you can take away so much more as the show has so many underlying themes and messages.
It was also just an overall good execution of romance and comedy. The bromance was great. There was no twisting love trapezoid and the story never truly strayed off track. The cheesy English jokes and clever pick up lines may have made others cringe but it brought out the personality and the relationship of the character so much more and made them feel real. People say that without this cast, the show wouldn't have been as successful and frankly, I agree (though not for the same reason). I don't think it was just the pretty face that made the show. The actors were good and executed the characters well. If you watch the bts, you will see that they truly understood what it meant to walk in their character's shoes. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing the respective roles. The acting and medical-related scenes were a little iffy and sometimes just complete nonsense but you can't expect them to be well versed in a field that requires years of study.
The ost was something else. Each track, combined with the perfect scenes, made the story so much more engaging. The emotions really came out. I usually only like one or two but the entire OST for this show rocked. If you heard one of the songs, you would automatically think of the show and that's a good thing.
I know the hype really ruined this show for many but if you just watch it with no real expectation or prerequisite then it is not as bad a watch as others will tell you. I say, give it a go, and if you don't like it then no harm, and if you do then great. As genres exist, not everyone is expected to like it. Try the tea and if you don't like it then try another flavor. If you find tea is just not your thing...then drink something else...?
