Seriously, I felt like I enjoyed this as much as I did because the OST really made every single scene. I had heard the DOTS soundtrack before I watched it and already loved all the songs — I only ended up loving it more when I saw them in the context of the scenes.I had a bit of trouble separating the drama from the hype when I was watching it (in 2020). It felt like I should love it because the rest of the world loved it. Ultimately, I did enjoy it, but there are a few things that I think would have bothered me more if they were in any other drama that I'll still talk about.
So many English-speaking actors. I don't have an issue with English in dramas, but it's the side actors that they get — the ones that speak great English but are terrible at acting. It honestly takes me a little bit out of the drama, and for me, immersion is everything no matter what I'm watching.
With that being said, I never felt like the "Agus" plotline or any of the antagonists posed a real threat. I don't know if it was the acting or just the fact that their backstories weren't set-up strong enough, but the only real conflict that stressed me out was the earthquake and its aftermath, which I think was the strongest part of the entire drama and made me cry a river. The amount of tragedy and unpredictability surrounding that drew the most emotion out of me, whereas if it was the good vs. bad guys, I pretty much always knew the good guys would come out on top.
I felt like th time skip at the end was kind of the same issue that a lot of dramas have issue with — a last ditch, huge plot twist at the end that separates the characters. And while I don't think DOTS did it terribly, its set-up was also meh because you also knew that the characters would end up not really being dead.
Even so, I loved both ships equally (a rarity) and the romance on its own was very strong. You don't often see two characters that are so strong and independent on their own, and the way they bounced their conflicting career values against the love they felt for each other — it was really, really, really good., and I really appreciated how upfront, communicative, mature, and understanding they both were. The same could go for the second ship; it was inevitable that their roles and personalities would clash considering how headstrong they both were.
Now two other things that I did love about this drama were the bromance and the humor. Seriously, it has one of the strongest bromance relationships that I've ever seen in any drama, and it made for lots of laugh-out-loud and replayable moments. The humor was very evenly spread throughout the drama which made it a pretty easy watch despite its harsh backdrop.

Reviews don't lie!!!
I saw reviews about this drama and talked about it with people who had watched it so I watched like 10 mins of the first episode and i found it hard to comprehend so i dropped it but for some reason I couldn't stop thinking about it, so I went to try again and I LOVED IT!!!! The previous reviews before me aren't lying this drama is great. It kinda hard to understand at first but don't stop you'll see for yourself too especially for serious drama and movie analyser's (Aspiring Directors/Actor or Actress's) there's a lot to learn from the movie director techniques.

DOTS literally lives up 2 its FAME wid a dramatic, gorgeously-shot story and an even bigger heart!!!
I totally believe de strongest point of Descendants was the ensemble of solid actors & de cinemotography. Song Joong-Ki, who thankfully signed on for this drama after finishing up his army period, brings empathy & warmth 2 de role of Captain Yoo Shi-Jin. DOTS is 1 of those epic series dat pretty much has it all: action, comedy, dire moments, touching moments, heart-breaking moments, suspense, intrigue, romance, and some dynamite plot-twists to satisfy most viewers.//VERDICT// A gripping SJK kdrama cuz @ abt 20 min in2 the first episode, I had fallen head-over-heels in love. De funny thing is, the synopsis is not one I would immediately be drawn to. DOTS is a perfect example of how a melodrama wen done well can make an excellent connect wid de viewers without appearing 2 b over-the-top. It is both grand and subtle, larger-than-life yet grounded.
In de end, all I know is dat I loved these characters so much & I haven’t come across a show dat has made me so unabashedly excited & fangirly (the obsessive tumblr kind) in a very, very long time.
P.S & 2 cap it all, I adore de soundtracks too. My fav one is K. Will’s Talk Love which has been on loop 4 de last few months.

He lit up the screen every time he came on the screen regardless of the situation he was in - comedic, action or romantic. I've become a big fan of his along with the show. He executed each of situations (i.e. the phone flip) with ease and confidence.
The only non-10 score I gave was for the story just because there were some plot holes but they weren't so significant that you can't forgive them. I highly recommend this show if you are looking for great chemistry, confidence and a fabulous romance.

A classic!
Yoo Shi Jin and Kang Mo Yeon's first random encounter and then their love hate relationship, and then finally their adventure together was all very well done and fun to watch. I love Song Joong Ki as a actor and of course their chemistry was so real which made this drama even more interesting to watch. I loved the visuals, I loved the characters and OST! This was a very fun drama to watch! Definitely a classic in the kdrama world! :DWas this review helpful to you?

Watched Vincenzo after this and I forgot I even liked this show before
It’s been three weeks since I watched this, but I don’t remember any significant episode that is unforgettable for me. However, the OST is excellent; the musical director deserves a raise. Anyway, I got hooked on this show because of Song Joong-Ki’s charms. Believe me, I’m not a fan of his, and I was really looking forward to the second lead guy, but Joong-Ki knows how to catch our attention with his charms.I gave it a 7 because the last part felt a bit rushed, and I think his character dying is irrelevant. Like, he died that easily and came back like nothingi happened?? That episode was so meh

A great choice for everyone!
I have seen this drama twice and that says a lot when you are a person who almost never sees things twice or more times. This drama gave me lots of cute moments! It shows how two people fell in love at first sight and their feelings for each other grew when fate brought them back together. Male lead was more or less what you would call a perfect man. He was a human shield for others. His cute face along with his honorable and many times playful behavior made him a perfect character for me. But we really saw how sad it can be to be the partner of such selfless person. Female lead was brave, always responsible for her actions and very knowledgeable at her profession. I loved watching her being good at her job. I thought that she was so cute when she started having feelings for male lead, but she soon understood what his job meant. They faced many difficult times together but they had many funny moments too. I liked all the other supporting characters too.
What I don't understand is why we had to cry for a whole episode before the end. I cried the second time I saw this although I knew what would come! Misunderstandings are to be solved... This was a little too much drama for me. It was like scriptwriters pulled a prank on watchers and they laughed at us on last episode. Not funny I would say.
I think this drama is what you would call a basic one for the k-drama world. I am glad I saw this and I recommend it to everyone interested in romantic k-drama who doesn't wants to see something completely lovey dovey.

I finished this as it came out and completely forgot to review it so... here we go!So, for some reason I love dramas related to the Army and medical field. It excites me! when It is a romance its even better and this one was GREAT! I loved the story line, the music and the actors and actresses! during the filming I felt as thought the main leads had great chemistry and made it look real. The action scenes were well played and thought out! this is only of my top 5 favorites. I have watched it 3 or 4 times and love it every time and for some reason I always find something I missed when rewatching it. I definitely recommend this drama!

Great drama initially as a binge-watch, but it just doesn't hold up as a rewatch
So I originally watched this drama shortly after it was all released (maybe early 2017?) and adored it (I will admit it was one of my first K-dramas soooo). I binge-watched it - I, in particular, remember crying a lot and loving the emotional rollercoaster this drama sent me on. I binge-rewatched maybe a year later with my mom and loved it still. But here we are, 2021, many many MANY Asian-dramas later, and rewatched it with some other family members and just didn't love it as much? Which devastated me. HOW?! WHY?! Well, honestly, I think it's because this third time rewatching it, we watched it slow (maybe 1 or 2 episodes a night over the course of a week).DOTS is a drama you MUST binge watch. By breaking up the episodes, you lose the emotional impact needed to truly be moved by the drama between episodes as the story progresses. To ride the emotional rollercoaster I rode while watching it the first (and second time), you've got to let yourself be complete immersed without interruption to let the impact of the story hit you hard (which, as sadistic as it sounds, is what makes it so good in the end sooo ^-^').
Anyways, what I didn't like about DOTS the third time around was the pacing - I found the boring parts to be extra boring and kind of drag the overall story (it was mainly the slice-of-life moments in between the exciting action stuff). I also found that I really didn't like Dr. Kang - everything about her relationship with the Captain seemed rather self-centered, which made their romance unenjoyable for me.
BUT what I still loved about the drama is extensive:
-- The OST is great! There's one or two songs I'm not a huge fan of, but for the most part, I adore all the songs (even the instrumentals pack a punch!).
-- The romance between the Sergeant and Army Surgeon Yoon was still really sweet and I could totally relate to it.
-- The romance between Dr. Song and Nurse Ha was absolutely adorable and I loved watching it again!
-- The relationship between the Sergeant and Private Kim - I bawled at the end when Private Kim cried (*even* on the third rewatch ^^)
-- The intense action and "bigger-than-you" plot was great! The natural disaster was the perfect vehicle to grip your heart on top of all the other variables and stressors in this drama to keep me watching.
Overall, I don't think I want to rewatch this again. At least not for a really long time. And I've learned my lesson - it will need to be binged for sure. DOTS *is* a good drama, but it does have it's flaws.
