Asato moves to a small run-down town to be closer to his mother, who is in a nearby jail. There he meets Takeo, a troubled guy with a dark past who gets in fights alot. Takeo discovers Asato's powers to be able to transfer pain/scars/wounds from other people unto himself. This is soon the beginning of their friendship as Asato is able to rely on his first friend. Little by little, they start making improvments in their lives.
Takeo past unravels as he tries to deal with the pain. What is it that Takeo can't let go of from his past? And why is Asato's mother in jail?
With power Asato is able to transfer pain from the people around him, but how much pain can he inflict himself?
This focuses mainly on the emotional feelings and the importance of life. This is not a movie for those expecting fast-paced action. Like I said, this is based on feelings and the meaning of friendship.

Kids is a touching and unique story about a young man, Asato, who has supernatural powers. When he meets Takeo his life slowly changes, he gains a precious friend for life. However, the movie isn't all that sweet. When Asato discovers his ability to heal scars/wounds it's the start of the following events.
The rest of the movie is about how Asato slowly learns the value of life and himself while Takeo slowly starts to change as well.
Even though I think the story and the actors are great I should say; It's not a movie for everyone. If you like supernatural powers, don't mind some slow paced moments and drama then I highly recommend this movie. Just don't expect a flashy or horror like movie, it's not for you then. The movie isn't just about a guy with special powers, it's about what made him whom he is now and how he slowly changes while helping and at the same time depending on his first real friend; Takeo.
To make a long story short; It's a movie with some deeper psychological moments in it, the acting is (in my opinion) really well done, the story is original and I simply fell in love with both actors :) A must see for almost everyone :)

KIDS was very emotional. I loved the plot, it was very well written and not predictable (which is a problem I find with most Japanese dramas and movies).
The acting was suburb, you could really believe what was happening even though the story is supernatural. Teppei is now one of my favourite actors!
I didnt really take note of the music (Which is good because i usually only notice it if its really bad!)

The script and story are original in their elements. Personally, I love anything to do with superpowers, so when I heard of this movie, I jotted it down on my list to watch later. Now, it has become one of my favorites. The plot leaves the audience in suspense and wondering what will happen. Finally, the ending leaves you in content, satisfied, but still wishing for more. You're wishing for more not because the story isn't neatly wrapped up, but because you'll fall in the love with the characters that you'll want to see more of them.
I put the music as nine because it wasn't freaking amazing, but it was just quite good, just not amazing. There is one song in the movie that I feel could have been better. In the movie, out of nowhere, an English song with an Irish feel to it plays. Personally, I feel the song was out of place.
Finally, the rewatch value is merely an eight, because it's a movie that you may want to see again, but then again, it could also be a movie that you are content with seeing just once.
Overall, I thouroghly enjoyed the movie and recommend this movie to anyone who likes to watch films questioning human nature, involves supernatural/superpowers, has a heart-warm feel, has a bad boy, and/or deals with character identity crisis.

The actors did a nice job, their pain always looked real. Also the scars and wounds were really well done.
The music (especially the ending song) was nice.
It's not a breathtaking movie, but it's a great one and I think everyone should try it. :)

Watch it, even if it's just a certain bridge scene. Overall excellent with solid acting & very touching!
The music is perfect for it too especially the ending theme by Makihara Noriyuki (Firefly ~ Boku wa Ikite iku)!

This is one of those hidden gems!
A simple though deep story, coupled with a small but fantastic cast prove that you don't need mind blowing special effects or glamorous locations to produce something outstanding.
I would recommend this film to anyone and know that it will be one I will be watching again.

I learned after reading the synopsis that the main male lead has the ability to heal wounds by transferring it to himself. That simple plot made me watched this film because I'm an avid fan of fantasy kind of films and TV series. I don't have any expectations before watching it because it was my first time knowing such plot. Simply knowing how are they going to put it up together already awaken my curiosity.
And here's my opinion regarding the film.
PLOT
I seriously liked it. The idea of creating this film with such kind of storyline was superbly great. Sorry but as what I've said I'm a great fan of fantasy films. The story of friendship was greatly emphasized in this film as well. It was good.
CAST/ACTING
I'm not familiar with the casts because I'm really not good with names and my memory is not that great as well but the main male lead left an outstanding impression to me. He did well maybe because he has this what we call "charm ". The rest of the casts were quite good in their acting in some way :-).
MUSIC
I love the idea of using English song during the first few minutes of the film. That was the only part where I appreciated the background music though. :-)
CINEMATOGRAPHY
Overall this was quite a good movie. The location perfectly suited the story as well. If I were to rate it I would give an 8/10 rating. :-)
Try watching it.

Friendship matters and there’s beautiful pain
I really enjoyed this movie. Both of the actors are handsome, and the lead girl was a great add in. I think what I enjoyed most about the movie is that in the end it taught me that no matter how hopeless things seem, you can find beauty in anything, especially friendship. But I do wonder, did the girl get her scar back in the end? Did she decide to keep it? I’m just curious, because the video wasn’t of the best quality. So, I couldn’t tell.
Anywho, give this movie a watch. For nostalgia sake. And because it has a good message. Very wholesome.
