Takechi Hanpeita, a samurai of Tosa domain who campaigned for the expulsion of foreigners, unwittingly travels 150 years in time from the last days of the Tokugawa shogunate to present day Japan. He becomes a teacher at a private school run by Saeki Makoto in a village in the remote countryside through an unexpected turn of events, and solves all kinds of problems in the village with methods unique to a samurai. ~~ Adapted from the manga series "Samurai Sensei" (サムライせんせい) by Kuroe Esusuke (黒江S介). The moment Takechi found himself in the modern time Japan was enjoyable. Watching a 150 year old samurai try to go along with this era held me on as day to day things that we take for granted are over expressed in this character. It was even better when we added Ryoma into the mix causing the story to "pop" all the more.

Honestly, all in all Samurai Sensei only peaked my interest cause of the title. But the adorable male roles (mainly two) and the honor, respect and wisdom given to us by Takechi really held me on till the end. Though I would've enjoyed it more if they'd focused mainly on the story of the two wishing to get home and not peaking into story lines that'd never be introduced and is completely irrelevant.

So? Watch or not? You should if you're looking for something to pass your time and inspire you to be a little bit better of a human being than you are now.

I checked this drama bcs I was bored, never knew I find a gem.
The story itself is light, yet deep and meaningful. It has same vibe with drama Jin, but more comical. The narration at the beginning explains this drama very well, about Japan nowadays through the eyes of samurai who lived 150 years ago.
One thing I like from this drama is the main characters are so human. They are potrayed as heroes but not exaggerated. Their passions and life values are what makes them special.
Too bad, this drama ends in 8 eps. It would be great if it has more eps.
As for the ending, it opens possibility for season 2 tho I doubt the main characters would ever go back to their time as it has stated at the beginning that they come from the past after they died.
Something worth watching at weekend with family.

Music : all OSTs are really nice, typical J-dorama ost.
