As typical as this set up may sound, it's so well done and enjoyable to watch it doesn't matter. I've actually never seen a movie premise like this. Well that's not true. A few years back there was an American movie about a ghost writer helping an author to pen a book but it was done poorly and there is no comparison.
Remember that they are writing an adult comic. There are a lot of sexual references but it's done very tongue in cheek as the female writer is faking 99% of her sexual experience. Most of the graphic sexual images are in fact, in graphic (comic book) form.
Watching Jung Bae get wise to her act...I loved it! Dae Rim is such a character and Jung Bae finds her tough to take at first. But when he begins to draw...it's her face that appears on paper. As the two leads gravitate toward each other and their feelings grow...it's so cute!
Lee Sun Gyun and Choi Gang Hee make a great pair. Able to be comedic and have you believe when they are sincere.
I recommend this movie highly.

If you are looking for a laugh out loud, jump up from your seat because you can't stand the hilarity, this movie is for you. I laughed hard throughout and jumped up and down with glee like a teenager standing in front of her favorite idol.
I have seen the lead male in other dramas and movies, and despite the sense of dryness around him, there is always something about him that compels me to watch him. In this movie I actually found him endearing, because it wasn't his stereotypical cocky character.
Another reason for watching this movie would be the fantastic body of the brother of the female lead. He is definitely something that I want see more of in the future...
Overall, this movie has made it onto my 'All Time Fave Korean Films'. I hope you watch and enjoy it as much as I did.

The laughs kept piling up 'til 2am. I had to force myself away from my Mac screen, and that was only because I had a super important work meeting later that morning. Otherwise I totally would have stayed up and finished it.
I usually approach romcoms with reserved disdain because a lot of times the movies in this genre are neither romantic nor funny OR they're one but not the other. What made Petty Romance great was that it's funny and romantic AT THE SAME TIME, for the entire show.
Furthermore the superb acting & cracking chemistry between the leads was awesome! They both had wonderful comedic timing and played extremely well off each other. Their interaction never felt forced or awkward, but very fluid and natural, which is not an easy feat when doing comedy.
I was never that impressed with Lee Sun Gyun in Coffee Prince, but here he brings a cavalier charm to his character that neither you nor our female lead can resist. Moreover you gotta give nuff respect to a man who has the balls (pun intended) to expose his crotch for a close up. Now don't get all bent outta shape ... he was covered (barely). Still, this is NOT a pose most male actors would jump to do, but one which Lee Sun Gyun delivered with great aplomb!
Choi Kang Hee was sweet and innocent in her role without being Moon Geun Young annoying. They both did a great job!
If I had to complain about anything, it would be what Jung Bæ did when he first met Da Rim. I mean, really? Who does that? You'll know what I mean when you see it. I could not believe him! Jeez. It made me look at him with slightly less adoration...
Anyway, Petty Romance still deserves a solid 9. Fun, fresh story (because it's not a storyline you see often) & great, great chemistry between the leads. My favourite Korean romcom yet! :-)

I felt like I had seen this movie many times before, I watched and fast forwarded through most of it because I was bored. I feel like the fun part is watching 2 characters have a reason to fall in love and get to know each other, but when one character is clearly in love less than 30 minutes in why am I watching it? Aside from that the story was not convincing, I was constantly wondering what purpose the added characters served, and attempted to figure out how the manwha they were creating was interesting.
On a more positive note, there was some chemistry there on screen but I thought the leads had more of a brother/sister vibe. The brother is hot, so watch for him, and the ending was funny and pretty sweet. Someone rated this a 10 so I watched it, now I want my hour back.
This is almost the exact same as the American movie Alex and Emma but with some cartoon porn. (when it says adult it means adult) Try that movie instead it was way better.

STORYLINE: (10 out 0f 10)
The storyline itself is difenetely of the mature nature. The paste is smooth and not rushed and as they relationship changed and her attempt to seduction was by far the best parts (his end comments summarises it all). I could have easily watched this as a drama to see how he breaks it to her ways were just straight weird - funny to watch but totally cringing to be the recipient.
ACTIING: (10 out of 10)
I have no fault to make of the acting for all actors potraited their characters convincingly.

So the main character ground on my nerves every now and then, but Choi Kang Hee as Rim just can't be hateable. Plus, I thought she was a perfect match for Jung Bae. Because despite Rim's pushy annoying character, he stands up for himself. Instead he let's her get away with things because he honestly likes her. Despite the characters' ages this is a growing up story. Bae learning to love someone in front of him, instead of an idea. Rim . . . well she has a lot of growing up to do and maybe not all of it is a achieved her.
The idea behind the plot is genuinely unique, but it's approached like many other rom coms. The cast of side characters, especially Rim's best friend and brother, really liven up the story! The best parts are during the credits when quite a few inside jokes from the movie are used. DON'T MISS THE CREDITS! This is a mature movie with sexual humor, naughty animated scenes, and one of the funniest attempts at trying to turn someone on I have ever seen! Bravo! If I could have loved Rim more and the plot didn't seem like it went through a bunch of check boxes, I could have loved it more.

i kind of dislike i became afraid when i saw the word ROMANCE on Korean movies :(
because it refers to two things
Lame, shallow and boring story OR sexual content without any story :\
i wished the content wasn't sexual it would be so good if they didn't do that
i felt the romance lost in all that un-necessary scenes
i saw it shallow based more on porno cartoon scenes
although they had a very good story to based on between the main leads
it could be more comic & funny if they focus on how the FL was lying about her sexual life
nice but frustrated
