Story: the story of sotus is different from the stereotypical story where "one guy has a girlfriend and he is now in love with a guy and cheats on her. but its ok cause he never really loved her in the first place and he is cuter with the guy anyways." No sotus is different it twists the aspects of a normal college BL drama by including the SOTUS system. They directors did a great job at scripting because we all have those lines from the series that we remember and fan girl when he hear them and this series has a good amount of them.

Acting/Cast: Krist and Singto have good chemistry. Of course there is always room for improvement but this was their first big series where they had main roles. With that i think they did amazing and their scenes together came to life. I felt their relationship and what they were going through just based on their actions. Where they lose points is M. I'm sorry newwiee but you have been acting for a while and i have seen your other works. Your play different characters but you include a little too much of your own personality in them. That's not entirely a bad thing and i am not blaming the whole thing on him because there are other characters but i am just picking on him. I just can't give a perfect score to this section if all the acting up to expectation.

Music: I can not begin to tell you how many of my friends have the opening song stuck in their head. Half of them haven't even watched the series and listen to the song. Their soundtrack is very good and well balanced between music genres.

Re-watch value: Yet another series i have watched more than twice.  3 times to be exact and i think i might have to make that a fourth just to get me prepared for Sotus S the series.

The story is very cute and will leave your heart in the hands of Kong and Arthit. Acting is not bad at all. There is just room for improvement. Music will have you downloading the soundtrack or butchering Thai around the house. Meanwhile the series will have you watching it an additional time for each friend you share it with.

The series really delivers a totally non-standard BL found there, and by having more mature characters and not teenagers, it is possible to get a deepening of the novel. The first part does not have much romance, but it is important to unroll, from half to front everything gets better, a milder mood, I really enjoyed that part. What I really did not like was the lack of development of secondary characters, although they are "secondary", could have been better used. I hope the second season is even more beautiful and cute than the first.

Good & Logical

Sotus is the 1st BL series where u can see issues other than just love/romance. Seniors-Juniors bonding & budding friendship between the leads. Both leads don't start off with "Love at first sight" note. They both have rough start with ragging & slowly understanding SOTUS meaning. Kongpob loves arthit & waits for him to until he's ready. Arthit at first ignores growing feelings but starts reciprocating. The only thing disturbs me is the one& only line "I don't like men, I like nly arthit." What does that even mean? I'm not gay but I love him & I'm not interested in women...?????? Krist acting as not good compared to singto. It's akways Kong pob pursuing while arthit doesn't show his feelings.

Emotional, Powerful, Full of Heart

SOTUS came out in 2016, long before the recent wave of Thai BL dramas. It was made on a tiny budget and starred complete unknowns. It was before the HUGE ascent of Twitter, tik tok and IG as a platform to promote shows as well as pre-pandemic when BL watching seemed to go insane and some shows were over-hyped (in my opinion).

In short it was a bit of a miracle that it became so popular and that it has withstood the influx of new BL work and continues to garner new fans even 8 years later.

The story is simple enough - a new university student who is put through the hazing process (a real thing at Thai uni - I have many Thai friends who went through it) by the third year students. A love story that unravels despite the two leads facing off again and again, arguing about anything!

And of course, two young men who discover that they like each other, despite their many differences, prejudices and pride.

Kongpob is like a sweet puppy who chases after his P’Arthit. Except when Arthit is in the wrong and then Kongpob bites back!

Arthit is growing up, is behind his peers in doing so, a little lost and constantly searching for the answers. He’s scared and insecure, has never had a partner, feels like he doesn’t deserve to be happy and spends a lot of the series trying to understand why someone might even like him! Poor thing!

They’re both just learning who they are.

They are surrounded by supportive and chaotic friends who have their backs, and Kongpob and Arthit’s romance is given space to develop. They aren’t suddenly in bed together after 3 episodes and nor should they be in a ‘soft’ romance like this. It’s more about their flirting, how Arthit is constantly confused by Kongpob’s actions yet he craves his attention more and more.

The tension builds throughout the series, and by the time they kiss (a very sweet peck by todays standards but totally matching the characters and the situation and also pretty iconic in its location) they have both been through a serious and very emotional learning journey. They know themselves much better and their feelings finally make sense.

Mentioning the supporting roles again- no, they aren’t enormously developed, but they all have personalities and a reason to be there. Plus, they represent many sexual orientations and no one is upset about it!

In a world full of BL’s with 6-10 handsome men playing 3-5 couples, it’s nice to have a show where there is a mix of relationships shown, as well as friendship groups that are not solely gay/pan/bi males.

Reading other reviews, I can see that some people found the start of it hard to watch and certainly the first two episodes contain the worst part of the hazing with quite a bit of shouting, but get past that and you’ll find a series full of heart with characters who truly care for each other and a storyline about first love and everything that’s difficult about it!

Enjoy! I did, and now I rewatch every year at least once..

PS Singto and Krist have such great chemistry and it’s really spine tingling if you watch closely..

Most overrated BL drama I have ever seen. You can barley call it a bl drama. I'm not saying I need guys kissing left and right, but even the moments that were supposed to be cute was underwhelming, and overall story line is slow and boring. Kinda sad cause I was expecting so much more. Also why are they promoting hazing in colleges!!! WTF !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I’m not the type of person to give everything 10 stars, so this kinda gives you a feel on why this is probably one of the best bl dramas ever. I’d just like to start off with that THE OST IS AMAZING!!! I LOVE the theme song. It’s so catchy and fresh, an absolute great workout song. I also love the storyline. I don’t like spoilers, so I’ll just say that it’s definitely not like those love at first sight dramas. The characters actually has development! I’m also a huge fan of the side couple. It’s also awesome that this bl drama wasn’t full of sexual things, but more of the refreshing cute scenes, like fluffy teasing and pick-up lines. My boy Kongpop was FULL of adorable pick-up lines and I am all for it. Although the hazing was a bit too dramatic for my liking, it didn’t really bother me too much.

The First BL that I watched.

Kongpob and Arthit have an amazing chemistry here. I fell in love with their characters and how they build up their relationship. The story is a bit slow though and I think needs more work-up on the execution of scenes. I think it took more than half of the total episodes to reach the climax which I think is not necessary unless they are really prolonging the season. The whole story is timely and relevant though considering that this type of hazing is really happening in real life. Overall I enjoyed this drama as it gave me gitters while watching it. Will definitely recommend to first time watchers of Boy’s Love dramas.

Sotus is one of the best Bl Dramas you could've asked for .. To be honest , I never liked the hierarchy system in colleges / offices or generally anywhere but i still watched this just because i was running out of BL dramas to watch back then . Damn this hit hard tho , however there was no physical relationship , the platonic chemistry and the tension between the leads is just lit .. Kongpob and Arthit , You'll remember them , you'll ship them and you'll love them but the irony is how Singto was a senior to Krist in reversal to the show and yet they pulled it off so well .. the brotherhood , friendship and life lessons we learn here are just precious .. Truly a must watch , even if you'e someone who don't watch / follow Bl , you'll still like it .

Decided to give this series a rewatch and I enjoyed it just as much as I did when it aired. I guess is because I am a sucker for a good Enemies to Lovers trope and this series pulls it off excellent. It also has a great pacing for the slow burn, it doesn't feel rushed when both main characters get together and it also dosen't feel as it drags. The series also has good side characters that are entertaining, but they aren't as engaging as the leads. So in some way when it does not focus on the leads the series suffers. Acting wise I feel at times it could be better, but overall is really good. Is really an enjoyable series really worth the watch.

Sotus and Sotus s are the best BL series. Period!!

At first I think the show will not be great because of the bullying etc. But at the show progress, the story became very interesting. Krist and Singto have a very strong chemistry. Like super strong chemistry!!! They don’t need to do kissing scene or bed scene, just being together makes our heart very full.

The other characters are also commendable, Off and Gunsmile are very funny. Singto’s group of friends have a wonderful chemistry, they seems to know each other for very long time.

You will love the facial expression of Krist!! He’s so cute!!

Overall a pretty balanced story. Arthit and Kongpob had a very good chemistry. But the story was a bit drab in my opinion. Hazing activities were over dramatised. It is for viewers who are into innocent love. Only two kiss scenes and nothing sexual it all. Arthit and Kongpob are always given the limelight, due to this supporting cast did not have great character development. If this is your first BL , just go for it. Wad and Prem was a missed opportunity as they could have pulled of as a couple.
