Haruki Kenji is a 36-year-old manager of the Winter Sports section of a large sporting goods company. He goes on a ski trip to New Zealand with his friend Shintani Goro (who is also his boss) and Shintani's new secretary, 24-year-old Aoi Yuki. Upon returning to Japan, he finds that he has a new neighbor in the apartment next to his. It is Aoi. While watching the movers, he sees a photograph drop from the new girl's luggage. Looking at the photo, he sees it is a picture of a group from a female bicycle gang, and upon looking closer, he sees it is a picture of Aoi. Haruki finds her putting on a facade and fooling everyone at work with her nice girl persona. But at home, she is anything but nice, dating lots of men and using them to get what she wants. This continues until one day, Aoi comes home drunk and without her keys. Kenji lets her into her room via the door connecting their apartments. Aoi accidentally drops a video tape into Haruki's apartment. When he discovers the tape, he watches it. On it, Aoi has recorded a message to herself. Seeing this serious message, Haruki begins to view Aoi in a completely different light. Edit Translation

Reviews
I really liked the choice of actors in this drama, you couldn't pick better ones for the roles they played. Once again, Yada Akiko did a splendid job in this drama showing her true colours as she always does. I was greatly impressed with this drama and would highly recommend anyone and everyone to watch it. In my most humble opinion, there were many lessons to learn throughout this wonderful drama.
An All Time Great J-Drama
I think it's the only drama I've watch more than 5 times. Yet every single time I've rewatched it, it still touches me.The story seems really cliche i.e female lead with life threatening illness but there's just so much more to it. To see how the male lead stood by her despite having his own misgivings about her shady past just never gets old.
To me, this is really a story of tolerance, acceptance and understanding in love. It's also a story about perseverance. For example, there s a quote in the drama that even an illness can be a door to something good..How having to give up your seat to an old person is a bus is not unlucky, it's lucky because you are doing something good. That even if you forgot to bring an umbrella during a rain doesn't mean that you are unlucky, because the rain will eventually stop.
PS: Yada Akiko is such a cutie here. I actually rewatched this more than 10 years after I first watched it and I still find her and this JDrama to be one of the main reasons I'm so into JDrama.
