I have never seen a live action bl done so well and Tanaka Kei plays our awkward main character to perfection. I love the way he portrays this man suddenly being confessed to by his boss and his best friend. Sure he isn't married and has constantly been rejected by woman, but God (the director) has given him two potential love interests. It's a hilarious comedy and you will find yourself cringing at all the right times. The ending will leave you smitten and happy you watched it. I also find his honesty as a straight male Japanese man, finding out that too men like him refreshing because he's speaking out what society has made him believe male on male relationships are like. So it is even more refreshing when we see his perspective change and truly look at these men who are in love him at face value. But overall this is hilarious and a great watch, and if your'e bored and want to spend 48 minutes and 11 seconds of your life, laughing your heart out, watch it in the link below:

If it wasn't because of one subber that commented how good the drama was, I wouldn't have picked this SP. And I am so glad I did. This was a fun, and surprisingly, very sweet story. I was giggling the whole time. How uncomfortable for Haruta to have his boss in love with him. How awkward Haruta was to have 2 guys in love with him, while he is straight as an arrow (is he?).
I love that Haruta likes both guys, not romantically, but as individuals. He admires his boss and he considers his roommate as his best friend. I love how different both kind of love are: one loves Haruta because of his good traits; the other loves Haruta IN SPITE of his bad traits. One is respectfully rejected; the other is cruelly rejected.
I am sad that Hase's actor is not the same in the drama, because I found him very cute.
The ending was SO CUTE. I am still smiling remembering it.
EDIT: 24hours later I rewatched it. I laughed at the same parts like it was the 1st time I was watching it, and I had again a smile after I finished it. Very cute!

Must Watch
There are concepts meant to be educational that they didn't explain well, such as Hurata's question about who's the girl in a gay relationship, but overall it's a great series. There are a lot of plot devices that are unrealistic and transparent to see but it's comedy. The acting is extremely over the top in some instances but I guess that's Japanese comedy for you and it's effective. Otherwise, the acting is superb. The characters are great because they're not stereotypical at all, which I think is great for mainstream Japanese audiences. They are shown positively. There is variety. The women aren't demonized. While this is a feel-good drama, it still touches on negative gay experiences, such as homophobia. I'd say it strikes a good balance for what it's trying to achieve. In the end there are 4 really capable gay/bisexual men in that company branch. Extremely high rewatch value. Great movie sequel too!Was this review helpful to you?
This drama is… iconic and funny. Although this is only a SP episode, I wished for it to be a series because the story is interesting and I believe that it could still go a little farther than a single episode. Although there's a 7 episode drama for this after two years, I actually looked forward to see more of Ochiai Makoto.
Final thoughts:
That iconic bastard, Tanaka Kei. :P

the one that started it all
Overall: there are parts that I liked more and parts that I liked less from the Ossan's Love 2018 series. 47 minute special/pilot. Watched on GagaOOLala https://www.gagaoolala.com/en/videos/3892/ossans-love-2016Content Warning: non con touching
What I Liked
- his female friend was more supportive and less of a love rival in the pilot
- that a character was already divorced
- some funny parts like outside the shower scene
Room For Improvement
- the fight scene wasn't as epic/hilarious as some of the other ones
- that confession left a lot to be desired
- the almost non con kiss and the non con touching
- missed Maki's sass

Comedial
*outline*I don't know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't what I expected after all. I don't even remember if I read the description but even if I did, Ossan's love is much more funnier than you think. A nice watch if you're in the mood for romance and/ light comedy.
*analysis*
STORY : Sweet and full of comedy, it doesn't keep you tense and you just have an amazing time watching it. There was no unnecessary drama either like a mean boss or a jealous senior co-worker, it was just short and sweet actually. I didn't really like the production, especially for it being released in 2016. Camera tech also wasn't actually that bad back then, but oh well... the quality wasn't amazing either (even when I tried to find it as HD as possible). But, ignoring the production everything else was brilliant. The confessions were also hilarious to watch, with a hint of sweetness too. Ossan's Love also ended on a funny note, and not once did I actually feel something was missing.
ACTING / CAST : Kei Tanaka played Haruta so well. I don't think Ossan's Love would've been as amazing a watch without him. He made his role his very effectively and the comedy was also portrayed very well. At one point he even made it seem like he was filming The Scary Movie or something.
MUSIC : The tracks played during the funny scenes were perfect, they actually made me crack up even more. There weren't many tracks but the ones that were there were decent, with the instrumental being the best.
REWATCH VALUE: It's not as high as I thought it was earlier when I had just finished watching it. Sure, it's a great watch but I really don't see myself coming back to this particular Ossan's Love. Especially because I didn't get many couple scenes, and that's sort of what I came for. All we go was the kiss, really.
