Many people would say why did they have to do a remake, others thought of it as an irritating act while they haven't even gave it a try !!
I hate judging something without giving it a try so I watched the remake; At first I was confused about the cast, it took me two episodes to get used to it then as the episodes went on I had great feelings for this drama: it's much faithfull to the manga than the original.
There were some personalities that differs from the original one ; some were great and some weren't, I didn't get disappointed while watching plus the ending was a little better than other versions.
Anyway , seeing Hana Kimi's story all over again deserve wasting my timee on it so don't care what people who haven't watched it say just give it a go and make your own conclusion.

Ha! I'm gonna get shot for this but I loved the remake just as much as the original, if not more! I watched both right while they were airing, and personally, I just loved the remake a lot. I think much of that was due to my love for the cast even prior to the drama beginning (knowing many of the guys from Tenimyu and whatnot), but just overall, I feel like it was made really well.

First off, I never liked Maki as Mizuki. She was far too girly and din't play the role well enough. I thought Acchan captured the boyish character way better. Her hair, her appearance, her voice, and just how she portrayed Mizuki was much more like the manga! Yes, I am kind of biased though because I am an AKB fangirl.

Next though, Nakamura Aoi was a far better Sano than Shun was. Although I love Oguri Shun, his Sano had no emotion. Nakamura Aoi's acting had far greater depth of character, which showed that he was a caring person but just unwilling to reveal that side. Shun's, on the other hand, was just completely emotionless. And having read the manga, Aoi definitely was much more like the original manga Sano.

Anyways, I'm going to cut off the comparisons there are just focus on why I liked it now. First, SAITO TAKUMI. Okay I remember when I heard they were making a remake, I immediately thought "OMG if anyone could live up to Kamikawa Takaya's legacy as doctor, it HAS to be Saito Takumi. And I was right. I mean, who else but Takumix could portray a gay guy that well?! This guy is the KING of BL movies!! He was absolutely perfect.

Shohei was sooo funny!!! Of course, Toma will always be everyone's favorite Nakatsu~ But c'mon! Shohei was just as ridiculously hilarious~ Plus, his and Acchan's connection was cute. Honestly, Acchan's connection with ALL the cast was great! But the part that made Shohei's Nakatsu THE BEST? His interactions with Tomo!!!! Okay like actually SHOMO

Story: I want to start off this review by saying, just because this is a remake doesn’t mean that it’s a carbon copy of the original. There is some speculation, myself included, that this remake was made because people felt that the original Sano Izumi was too cold and didn’t really seem to like Mizuki. While I absolutely love the original and have watched it many times, nothing can replace it.

The remake is actually pretty good. I started this drama with hardly any hopes at all, expecting to be disappointed and let down. Remakes are hardly any good, but this drama proved wrong. They took a different path by changing certain aspects. The dorms were the same as were the classes, but instead of the school being brilliant and amazing, it was in ruins, in constant need of repair and always on the verge of being shut down by the board of directors. One of the best things about this drama was that they kept the original Hanayashiki Hibari, because no one can play her better than Iwasa Mayuko.

They kept a lot of key aspects like the original soundtrack, and as I said earlier some of the locations, but added a new flavor to it that was rather pleasing.

I just want you all to remember that this may be a remake but it isn’t really based off the original. Many people think it’s upsetting how similar the two dramas are, with the set, music and actors, but keep in mind this isn’t based off the original drama but the MANGA.

Music: I really would have liked to hear different music but the original sound track was just as good. They did use a new theme song, Flying Get by AKB48, which was okay. Nothing compared to Ai Otsuka who sang Peach for the 2007 version.

Cast/Acting: With this remake I also believe they were trying to give new actors or idols a chance to show their stuff. Quite a few were unhappy with the way Miura Shohei acted, claiming that he was just like Ikuta Toma. Please keep in mind that he wasn’t copying the original actor, but acting as the character does. Sometimes it all seems amateur-ish and other times it was okay. The story was the part I cared about the most, not the actors. In the original Hana Kimi the couple I shipped the most was Mizuki and Sano, go figure. This one though I shipped Nakatsu and Kayashima, as you see a lot more of their friendship here and how close they really are.

However, there was some new eye candy such as Kiriyama Renn who played Nanba Minami and Tokuyama Hidenori who played Oscar. This cast isn’t as good looking as the original, but every one has something good looking about them.

I feel like I'm being lenient with my rating because with only watching two episodes I'm already disappointed, I was cringing while watching it. Of course the story is amazing, but everything else is just..bleh. I've seen the original Japanese one and I absolutely loved it, but this remake is just... T_T *facepalm* smh. It's not even really a remake..it's practically the same, even the set is the same. Also, NO ONE can replace Ikuta Toma (played Nakatsu in the original Japanese Hana Kimi) and the girl playing Mizuki (Maeda Atsuko) just really annoys me for some reason, she has such a high pitch voice. *Sigh* If you haven't seen the original Japanese version then you'll probably think this remake is okay. As for me, since I have seen the original I can't help but compare the acting and stuff. But the one thing I do like is the ending song which is "Flying Get" (フライングゲット) by AKB48 and I don't even like J-pop.

I love this version. I usually give almost all the remakes of my favorite manga/anime/live action a chance. I actually like this drama so.

Story: 10/10 because it's the story we know and love. It stay true to the manga more than the original, but that doesn't mean that I liked the older Japanese version either.

Acting: 8.5/10 because I thought that the leads did a fantastic job. It might be stiff at first because it the first couple of episodes, but the acting gets a lot better. Nakatsu in this one is funny as heck also.

Music: 6/10 the only reason it's lower than the other one(2007) is that they used the same music(it was a while back when I watched it so I don't remember if some of the music changed).

Rewatch value: 10/10 because it the story we know & love, stays true to the manga, has some changes the made me like the story more, & the acting is great to me.

Remember: this is my personal opinion, if you don't like it, then that's fine.

Now I am a firm believer in only writing reviews after seeing the whole drama, but I feel I need to write this. This drama is just a worser version of the Japanese one. The opening, music (minus the opening), and the uniforms are the exact same. It also trys to stay with the same funny feel. I was hoping with this version it would try to stay with the manga more, but this is even farther from the manga than the other version. The cast is also not as good as the first (but don't get me wrong they are good looking). Not anyone in this cast really "fits" into the roles (I mean who can beat Ikuta Toma as Nakatsu?) The Japanese version was soooo good that this version just falls flat. Let's just hope that the Korean version can be as good as the Taiwanese and the original Japanese dramas.

I would not even bother watching this unless you can really seperate this version from the original.

So I love this story as I have watched all versions. I have a certain bias toward the 1st Japanese version b/c it made me laugh like so hard. I am not exactly sure y they remade this drama, but I liked it. I liked the ending to this 1 better than the 1st. There is no reason to bash this drama b/c it was good. I liked the characters & the actors that played them. I wish ppl would just watch the drama for what it is & not compare it to previous dramas. I enjoyed it & hope others will as well if they just take it as it is.

No doubt the story is already well known, practically a must watch storyline for Japanese drama lovers. But, the story although goes by the same way like the original Hana Kimi, it is far stronger and more detailed. Events are better and it involves more about other characters. Hana Kimi remake isn't just contending with the predecessor on the comedy level, its trying to add complexity to relationships especially between Sano and Ashiya. There's definitely better romantic tension here. The relationship between Nanba and Senri(the guy that always tags along). I think bromance is accentuated here, not the sexual kind, the brother, man love. Like how girls can pour their hearts together, guys can too and this drama shows no restraint in that. It doesn't make it feel gay.
The cast will never be like the first for sure. I loved the first cast but I think the second cast has lots of expectation. I think the main cast had better opportunities to show their potential due to the script and how events were laid. So it make up for how they cannot be compared to the first. Maeda as Ashiya cannot win Horikita but she can barely pull it off. Its the feminine charm on her that just doesn't make her feel like a guy hence unreal. Shohei as Nakatsu was good. He pulled off the feelings he had, being comical and desperate, I think he had better chance than Ikuta to show stuff. Sano was okay, more human, less robot and cold.
Flying Get song gets addictive, I warn you! You'll find similar soundtracks from the first.
Overall, Hana Kimi Remake did not disappoint. For me, it managed to be different than the first. Watch it without comparing and you'll find that it's a gem too. I think for a Japanese drama, the emotional value for a comedy, teenage drama here is good so if you rock Nakatsu x Ashiya or Sano x Ashiya, it won't disappoint. Enjoy :) (I'm sorry for such a loong review, haha)

I was weary about watching this because I am a huge fan of the original but this is great.
The first episode is an obvious copy, but after the second and third eps you start to see a few big differences, if anything this remake is ALOT more like the Twain version. Its more faithful to the Manga which I love.
The cast is great, I do prefer the original cast though. Miura Shohei is my favourite from this cast, hes great and very funny.
I preferred the ending to this version more so than the others. Anyone who hasn't seen the original will defiantly enjoy this, if you have seen the original try not to compare the two and you'll love it!

I think everyone who is a fan of Hana Kimi should give this a go. Don't knock it till you've tried it!

So ofcourse the story would have to be given 10. I dont think i need to explain that to you guys.

Acting/Cast: I gave 8 because there were certain characters i loved and others, not so much.
At first, i didn't like Acchan as Mizuki. Maybe its because i'm such a huge Maki fan. I'm not sure. But slowly she grew on me. I think her acting got better.
Most of the cast was pretty cool. Tomo, who plays Kayashima (Aura guy) was able to portray the same character in a completely different light and gave a completely different feeling to Kayashima. I absolutely loved it!
Miura Shohei's Nakatsu was very Similar to Toma's Nakatsu. However, i still think he was able to bring a bit of himself to the character. Plus, Nakatsu was slightly different this time. He was able to accept things about himself :P

Music: 8. Only because Ikenai Taiyou is an absolutely epic song and that Peach song.. lol.. i remember it being stuck in my head for ages. Flying Get is a really good song, but compared to the original.. hmm...

This drama aired 3 seasons ago. And i've only just watched it. When i saw the bad ratings it was getting, i chose not to watch it. I thought it would be terrible. And i'm not going to lie, i didn't really enjoy the first episode. However, i continued to watch it because of Kiriyama Ren and it actually got better.
I feel that this isn't just a re-make. Its more... Its the same story as the original, but they've presented it in a different way. There are many original bits to this drama too. Even the characters personalities aren't the same. Sano is very different in this. He's more open and kinder towards Mizuki.
Also, i think i may have enjoyed the last episode of this one, more than the original. And that's saying something.

So i hope you'll give this drama a chance and watch the first 3 episodes atleast. Honestly, its amazing. You'll be laughing, maybe squeeling and God knows what else... I'm glad i chose to watch it ^^

First I want to ask a question 'Why remake a great drama 4 years after it's production?' I still don't understand the reason.

Next, I would like to ask anybody who discovers in the drama an ikemen to let me know, cause I didn't find one, we~ll Nakatsu was a really cute guy (maybe I'm biased, as I'm crazy about his character), sometimes Sano's actor seemed OK, but...OMG... I didn't find anyone appealing enough to call them ikemen...whatever, that's not the problem.

If they were going to remake the great drama, I thought their goal was to make it closer to the manga, I'd be crazy about it and undoubtedly, they added some features that covered the manga, but...the characters just didn't fit, I still can't believe I was watching Hana Kimi, my favourite manga and drama... the feeling was whole another one... I didn't even feel serious about watching it, just curious...

The director polished Sano's character, which I actually liked, as in the earlier version Sano at first got on my nerves by his always moody expression and not taking part in school activities, this Sano was more sensual...I'm talking about the character, not the actor, as till the last moments I couldn't see him as my fvourite character ever. I just fell in love with him during the last scene with Mizuki, when he came to US to see her, he was gorgeous!

Mizuki... didn't like her... though she had some awesome lines throughout the drama, script writes, gambarimashita!

Nakatsu...great fella...liked his acting (then again, I might be biased :P)... His character was one the closest to the Nakatsu I remember from the last version, Toma Ikuta's genius! I really like this guy!

Whatever you decide 'watch' or 'not to watch', remember, this peace of work, I mean the story, is one of the greatest works in the manga history, please, spare some time, read the manga, you won't regret the time you spent, I promise! When you have read the manga, watch the original version, it has a whole another feeling about it, but it's gorgeous, funny and lovable...after you've done these, you can watch this version and judge for yourself.

the bad points;
so almost everybody who watches asian drama has seen one or the other version of hana kimi.. i have tries seeing them all..and with a very open mind..my favorite as im sure it is for most people is the 2007 japanese version.. i expected the remake to be an improvement or atleat more entertaining than the previous one (why else would the make one??)
but it was EXTREMELY disappointing.. the characters are trying way too hard! u dont see them grow..most of the time ur left wondering if u missed something somewhere...the nakatsu is trying to copy Toma Ikuta to the last eyelash and is sad to watch.. mizuki was decent.. this one definitely look more like a boy than maki (im not sure if thats a good thing coz we know she is female anyway) and now to the BIGGEST disappointment of them all! IZUMI SANO shun oguri did a brilliant job portraying sano u could understand and sympathize with shun oguri"s sano..u could see him open up little by little..see him grow and u came to like the characters more and more as the time passed..namba and sekime too..but here u r left with a fluttery sano who u end up wondering if he really needed help on the first place
the good points;
it manages to be what hana kimi is supposed to be funny light and has its moments. it is not a comeplete copy of the original so thats good, so watch it if u are willing to with an open mind coz even through its not as good as the original its atill a good show..but pleases dont forget what i said about the open mind :D
