Her own family ignored her cause her mother wanted it that way. Her so called senpai trapped her in a Stockholm Syndrome and took advantage of her.
No one cared to help her out and she finally started to be strong enough to break free herself.
It's what all abuse victims suffer from, the feeling that they're not enough and no one gives a $hit about them.
I doubt any k-drama would even gave a story like this cause they're all virgins and the hero is their first love.
From what I've seen in reactions about this drama, Koreans are right. No one wants to see the reality of someone who tried to escape an abusive relationship. Really a pity...

After this preamble, I'll tell you that this drama can be a challenge for many lol
The main protagonist has really a weak personality and that can be frustrating most of the time. But it's always nice seeing as a person can turn into a new leaf thanks to one's own effort and love.
As for the villain, he's really psycho lol, but still we shouldn't see everything as black and white. I'll let you be the judge of that.
Why don't you give it a shot?
That's it. Enjoy ^-^
P.S. sorry for any mistakes (English is not my first language)

Change takes one step at a time
This drama is about the FL struggling to get over her past which continues to haunt her in her workplace. With a positive support system in the form of her friends and ML, the female lead eventually learned to stand up on her own. There are times that the dialogues seems out of place but they did little to do a lasting impact of the story. I was really satisfied with how the episodes progress, seeing how the plot going deeper and deeper into the past of the characters and how they overcome it.
The actors did a good job with portraying the characters, especially with the antagonist. He creeps me out as I watched him form my screen. The chemistry was also present with the FL and the ML was also there.
I agree with the commenters and the reviewers saying that the FL did not deserve the hate that she's getting. It was really hard to get to watch the FL suffer from her starting from rock bottom and her dignity barely intact. I had a hard time watching it at first due to the FL's character but once I understood her circumstance, even just a bit, I found myself hooked to the series to see if she can manage to change.
Kimi ga Kokoro ni Sumitsuita may not be everyone's cup of tea but for me, it was and I found the series compelling and interesting due to its boldness to tell a story that's not commonly told but happens a lot in real life.
